If you're looking for a romantic and luxurious escape in
If you're looking for a romantic and luxurious escape in Honolulu, look no further than the Halekulani hotel. The hotel is nestled right on the beach with stunning ocean views, offering an exquisite and unforgettable experience that will take your breath away. My husband and I recently stayed at the Halekulani Hotel during our trip to Oahu, and we loved the experience. From the moment we arrived, we could tell that the hotel's attention to detail was truly exceptional. The elegant decor and tranquil sound of the ocean waves created an intimate and serene atmosphere that made us feel like we were in a fairytale. The Halekulani Hotel is famous for its stunning white drapery and lush greenery, adding to its romantic ambiance. One of our favorite parts of our stay was dining at the Orchids restaurant. The restaurant serves delicious and innovative cuisine, featuring a blend of traditional Hawaiian dishes and contemporary international cuisine, all prepared with the freshest local ingredients. The restaurant's atmosphere was lovely, with breathtaking views of the ocean and the hotel's beautifully landscaped gardens. The heated swimming pool overlooking Waikiki Beach at the Halekulani is also a highlight, featuring a stunning floral design at the bottom. The bottom of the pool is covered in a stunning mosaic of a Cattleya orchid made of 1.2 million pieces of glass tiles. The pool staff was warm and accommodating. We enjoyed relaxing and sunbathing poolside, with immediate access to Waikiki beach.Although our room was cozy, it was still comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We absolutely loved the fresh papaya that was provided as part of the room service, which added a touch of tropical flavor to our mornings. To make our stay even more special, the hotel surprised us with a bottle of Champagne, which we enjoyed while taking in the stunning views of the ocean from our balcony. The attention to detail and personalized service we received at the Halekulani made our stay truly exceptional.Overall, the Halekulani hotel exceeded our expectations. From the stunning location and luxurious amenities to the delicious dining options and exceptional service, the hotel is truly a magical place to stay in Honolulu for a romantic and unforgettable experience. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a sweet and intimate getaway in Hawaii.
Be the first to ReplyStayed here for a few nights while visiting friends in Oahu
Stayed here for a few nights while visiting friends in Oahu and I think my expectations were maybe too high? Very nice hotel, clean, and with the exception of the pool attendant (who was very rude to my son), the service was wonderful. The pool is in the shade for most of the day and was a bit too cold. The hotel is on the beach, but the small bit of beach in front of the hotel always had homeless people on it making it uncomfortable for my family to enjoy (I know it's public property, and I have empathy for those without homes, but that still doesn't want me to allow my 3 year old to post up next to them). The hotel restaurant was wonderful. The restaurant during the day for lunch has the same menu as the pool restaurant, the menu is limited, and we got a bit tired of the food after 3 days (I recommend eating "off campus"). We came as a family after being assured by the hotel and several reviews the hotel was family friendly. It was not. My son was laughing playing with his trucks by the pool and we were told by the pool attendant if he wasn't quiet we would have to leave. My son is 3. And he was laughing. Not screaming or yelling, just giggling with pure joy. How do you tell your kid not to have fun? It was utterly bizarre. When more families showed up and the other kids were yelling Marco Polo, I don't know if they got chastised as well, but it left a very bad taste in our mouths as we felt singled out. Ruined what would have been a mostly good experience. Won't be back. 3 stars because it is a nice hotel, minus 2 due it not being family friendly (which is fine, but make it adults only), and for the sketchy beach situation.

We have been coming to this hotel the last two years. We never get disappointed with the rooms or service. It really feels like a home by the beach. The views are incredible. Great access to the beach and even has a pool. I wish the beach space was more secluded to just the hotel. But I'm assuming there some laws with that. One thing that bugs me though is the catamarans....why do they have to be parked by this hotel?!! I didn't notice this last year. It really disturbs the peace here. They have them at least twice a day??? If I'm paying all this money to stay here, it would be nice to be away from the crowds. Best thing about this hotel besides service; the toilets. You heard me. Every toilet here has a bidet. Love it. Looking forward to next year. Any way those catamarans can go somewhere else?

We Absolutely loved it but it might not be a spot with the kids. And there is not much of a beach. But if u want quiet place to stay. This is it
Be the first to ReplyLet me start by saying this was quite possibly the worst
Let me start by saying this was quite possibly the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel restaurant in my life. I came to House without a Key yesterday for my birthday to celebrate with a reservation booked well in advance. Upon arrival the girl at the reservation desk asked if she could help us and when my fiancรฉ said we had a reservation she looked me up and down and said "oh I see". The guy next to her ran off and the girl proceeded to tell us that he "was getting me a hotel towel to cover up otherwise I couldn't dine with them". They literally asked me to wrap a terry cloth white hotel towel around my body to hide myself if I wanted to dine with them. I obviously refused to wrap a towel around myself so I was refused service and we left. I was unable to get any last minute reservations on a Sunday so my birthday lunch was cancelled. I called the hotel manager who was apologetic and said the restaurant manager would call me to explain. The restaurant manager left me a voicemail suggesting I try a mai tai bar. Let me clarify that the restaurants dress code stated on their website is "casual resort or beach attire. Cover up and footwear required". I'm assuming the cover up piece is for those wearing a bathing suit or bikini since they're right on the beach. I was wearing a $400 floor length dress with Dior heels. I was humiliated and spoken to with sexist rhetoric dating back to the 1950s. I didn't even know women were treated this way anymore. The hotel manager has not only adopted the sexist treatment and blatant humiliation of women in his restaurant rather he has encouraged it. I suggest this restaurant closes its doors and thinks about what time it is right now and how women deserve to be treated. We do not force women to cover their bodies in towels and cloth if their confidence and beauty is distracting to us.I also suggest if it's going to continue to remain open adopting its current policies that they display very clearly on their website an accurate depiction of their dress code policy "No showing of the arms for women. No cutouts allowed on dresses showing any body parts that are generally covered with a high neck, short sleeved, tshirt (preferably long sleeve). Failure to meet our dress code policy will result in us placing a terry cloth towel over your body or removal of you from our restaurant".Also I've included a photo of the dress I wore, the restaurants vague dress code policy listed on their website, as well as the restaurant managers transcribed voicemail telling me to go to a Mai tai bar. Sure maybe the food is good. But any person who reads this and still chooses to book a room or dine here- you are giving your money to support a restaurant and a hotel that mistreats women. To the hotel- do better; if you know this is what is happening at the very restaurant inside your 4 walls and you still allow them to have a space here you are just as guilty them.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel n very historical.
My Aunties n x-mother-in-law use to dance hula there on Sundays back at n the 50's. They were known as The Gracias Ladies of Hula. So much history and beauty at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, the famous pink hotel.

This hotel is as gorgeous as it is expensive; for a high end resort hotel, you probably already know that. The hotel was kinda recently refreshed so the rooms are all super nice and clean. The rooms with better views or higher floors (of course) come at add on cost. When checking in, we asked for a higher floor and the lady at the desk said we had already received a complementary double upgrade to the room we were handed. I pointed out I was handed the room I booked...she still insisted we'd have to pay more to get a higher floor. I get it...but she was kinda rude and dismissive to us through the whole checkin process. Everyone else on staff was lovely. Now, there's also no real spa here (they kinda set up camp in some standard rooms), looking back through the reviews, the spa here seems to be always in flux. But for some good news, as a guest it's easy to get a table at House Without A Key (their Hawaiian music venue) and there's Jazz in the lounge at night. I'd avoid the dinner at La Mar, it was fine but not worth the cost. Also, while not really having any beach access, the pool and pool services are really great. So if you got the dime and the time, this can be a pretty nice spot and it's not really kid friendly so take that as a plus or minus...for a quiet getaway, I'd give it a plus. Kinda still, I feel there's some kinks to be worked out.
Be the first to ReplyI was very excited for my 4 night stay at the Halekulani.
There are so many great things about this resort but a couple things that I felt just slightly let down by. The great: the Aloha spirit is alive and well among every employee we engaged with. Friendly, accommodating but reserved. Our partial ocean view suite was upgraded to a full ocean view. The room has a lot of great amenities and housekeeping did a fabulous job throughout our stay. The so-so: I've stayed at other high end Oahu resorts before, including the Kahala so I was kind of expecting our check in to be a little more "special". When we stayed at the Kahala we were welcomed with fresh juice, a warm hand towel and a lei. Even lesser hotels welcomed us in a fashion close to this. The Halekulani does NONE of this. That made me a little sad, but whatever. Secondly, there is apparently a strict dress code detailed on the website and in our welcome brochure but wasn't really the case. I feel like I rushed to buy the hubby a whole new resort wardrobe for nothing. Orchids was a little underwhelming and vibe felt way too stiff for breakfast. The gift shop is ridiculously overpriced. I wanted a couple of towels. They were $120 each. Even though I could afford them, I opted for the ABC store across the street instead. We loved the pool and the guys working there were phenomenal despite being short staffed. Best Mai Tai's of our trip! Bell staff were fantastic! Once again, our housekeeping staff was on point. We did however, like the Halekulani enough to possibly stay there again. The good definitely outweighed anything negative. For $750/night I just expected just a *little* bit more luxe treatment.

Two stars are for the upgraded rooms and politeness of the front deskVery poor experience so far. We have three more days to go so there's still room for improvement. We have voiced all of our concerns to staff as we have gone along but no contact from any manager at this point to help change our experience. I will update this review if that happens. I booked through Amex finest hotels using my credit card to book and pay for the hotel. When we arrived the front desk asked to see my husbands ID. When we arrived in the room there is a welcome message with my husbands name on the tv. Every time we give them our room number for anything they confirm using my husbands name. I asked the front desk why that is. Standard to add his name and change it to Mr. apparently. They clearly need to update their policies and give their staff diversity and exclusion training although now I'm looking around I can see there is very little diversity in clientele at this hotelThe service is incredibly slow and very little attention given for the prices you are paying. In the Room Without a Key the dinner delivered was stone cold. They replaced it but by then my husband had eaten his so we both ate alone and our idea of sharing sides didn't work out. A table waiter was removing the dirty cutlery and plates and also pouring out drinking water to diners while touching their glasses. Not Covid friendly We asked for new glasses and pointed out the error. This appeared to attract the attention of a guy in a black jacket who took the glasses away but didn't say anything. Our waiter then continued to pour our water but others were still served by the table waiter although he appeared to be wearing one glove by now. Tables were left uncleared for quite some time. They comped our meal entirely. Of course. Breakfast at orchids is so slow. There are no waiters around to ask for anything during your meal. We had to ask for hot food today as yesterday our breakfasts were cold. I just asked where the spa is and was told they don't have one. So for over 200 dollars you can get a massage in a room? The website mentions spa a lot of times. Read the detail. There isn't one. I asked the concierge if he could book me a spa at the ritz Carlton and he said no. Maybe I should try the Westin but couldn't help me book it. Really? As I said the rooms are really nice. Just upgraded. Front desk is very polite. Come on Halekulani I feel you can do better than this.
