Dirty room. Rude and unpleasant general manager
Dirty bath covered in hairs. Did not raise the issue that night as I arrived late and did not discover the state of the bath until late into the evening. Complained the following morning and was treated abysmally by the general manager, who seems to take pleasure in being rude and obstructive. A great shame - this otherwise pleasant hotel is being severely let down by some of its staff. Avoid - instead give your money to a hotel that cleans properly and cares about its customers!
Be the first to ReplyGood location, nice hotel but in need of updating
I’m sure this was once a really great hotel but it is in need of some updating. On arrival it feels a little soulless and could do with a softer feel. The room was small but OK with a decent view we paid extra for. Despite turning off the radiators the room was very hot. Considering the star rating and high price of the room there were a number of observations. The safe failed to work and the duty manager was unable to fix it, there were no USB points, no soft close toilet seat, there was a lot of dust on the desk, no iron or ironing board and, very importantly, no guest directory so we were totally lacking information. It would also be good to have some local artwork rather than generic and two comfortable chairs, although the room is probably not large enough, despite the high price.
Be the first to ReplyGreat hotel for any kind of visit.
Everything was excellent! Hart’s a well-maintained hotel on a quiet street in an upscale neighborhood, and it’s only a few minutes walk to Nottingham’s best attractions and city centre. The room was clean and comfortable with excellent views. What makes Hart’s special enough to get top marks is the staff. Every person we interacted with - front of house, restaurant, housekeeping, etc - was efficient, accommodating, welcoming, professional and very pleasant. It’s not the cheapest hotel in the city, but it is excellent value.

Superb food staff very friendly and efficient, relaxing break. We had booked a theatre package and our seats very good Garden room, light and more spacious than superior room, however all rooms are well equipped and beds very comfortable
Be the first to ReplyLovely, comfortable, exceptional.
Compact excellence. High standards in customer service and design: noticeable care taken in many details and overall service. It was so easy to settle in and enjoy the understated but high level comforts of this hotel. Elegant and quiet, tucked into a corner by the Ropewalk and the green edge of the Park. My room overlooked the garden and a panoramic view across the city. Reception staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Lovely.

What a lovely hotel in a beautiful location a short distance from the city centre. Very friendly staff and a well appointed hotel. Super breakfast and so nice to be able to buy some of the gorgeous sourdough to take home. Will definitely be returning for another visit.
Be the first to ReplyBooking Issue
Tried to book the Harts hotel for the night of our wedding. We went directly through the hotel website which gave us the option of the Superiour Double. One of the booking options was to upgrade to the Gourmet getaway package for £180. All was booked and confirmation email followed. Unfortunately a phone call also followed to tell us of an error on their website. The error meant we would need to cancel as the actual cost of the room was now over £300. I must add the gentleman who dealt with us was incredibly sincere and did his best to help us. Unfortunately management weren't so willing to budge. An upgraded room based on the standard price was offered however, despite this not being our problem, including breakfast each was too big a stretch. We were willing to come to some compromise however, given we had the confirmation emails etc, we felt within our right to hold firm. Ultimately the room is cancelled and we look forward to booking elsewhere.

I booked this as a treat for my 81 year old Mum - after a 10min walk (up the NOT so moderate hill) arrived at the hotel to find the lift out of order - my poor mum! Room seemed ok until sleep time - we were right above the kitchen dumb waiter was clunking all night and “gravy “ smell from 5.30am was awful - if we’d been informed the lift was out of order I would have changed hotels 😡 very disappointing

Stayed here last night & had lunch today to celebrate our daughter’s graduation. From check in to check out everything was just lovely. Such friendly, efficient & well trained staff Lunch was excellent. I had halibut and if really was one of the nicest fish dishes I’ve ever tasted. Polite, unobtrusive service. Our waiter was excellent. The only think I can suggest to improve would be it would have been nice if someone had offered to take our coats rather than eat with them on the backs of our chairs. Also tablecloths would have been a good touch. Will definitely return when back in Nottingham & can thoroughly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyA great find
We made a same day booking last Friday and what a great find it was. We normally stay at another hotel in Nottingham however this place was far better. Very quiet location but close enough to the centre. Comfy bed. Lovely room and nice complimentary coffee.
Be the first to ReplyDire customer service from the management and disregard for customer safety.
My husband and I arrived at the hotel early evening on the hottest day ever in July. We were due to celebrate our son’s graduation which was happening the next day. I had been made aware at reception (nice American receptionist) that there was no air conditioning in the hotel and that a fan had been provided. Although very small, the room was fine with pleasant views of the city, from the communal courtyard garden accessed from the patio doors in the room. We went to dinner within half an hour of arriving at the hotel but found it impossible to sit in the restaurant as the heat was so oppressive. No provisions had been made to cool down the restaurant despite the repeated warnings we had had from the met office; no air conditioning unit, not even a fan. The outside venue of the restaurant, in my opinion, is not particularly attractive, in part due to its proximity to the road, but we felt we had no other choice than to eat outside due to the impossible temperature inside the restaurant, which in hindsight I believe was a real Health and Safety issue. We were joined by our son and his friend and were having a very nice meal served by a very jovial waiter when, just after we had finished our main course, in the corner of my eye I spotted something strange. I tapped my husband and I hadn’t quite had time to process what was happening, when it became apparent that there was a lady about two feet away from my son who must have sat down on the bench next to the table and then collapsed backwards. At this point she was fitting and a mass of yellow fluid was oozing from her mouth (possibly vomit mixed with foam from the fit) and her eyes were rolling. I rushed inside to reception to ask them to call an ambulance and my husband jumped up to stop the woman falling off the bench altogether and landing on her head. She was too heavy, so he was assisted by our son and some other diners and put into the recovery position. I then exited the reception to be met by the husband who informed me that in his opinion his 70 old wife was absolutely fine, having just had a 4 course meal ; she had apparently mentioned she had felt sick and had stepped outside. He insisted she didn’t need an ambulance. I tried to explain what had happened, but the husband wasn’t interested. I returned to the reception and asked to be able to inform the crew on the 999 call as to what I had witnessed. They requested I inform them how she was at that moment, so I returned outside to get an update. By this time the lady in question was sitting upright on the bench next to a younger man who also repeated that she was fine and was just having a glass of water, and who effectively told me to go away. It would transpire that this was the Manager, Mr Adam Worthington. The ambulance arrived and the lady was checked over by the crew in the ambulance where she stayed for quite a long time. The ambulance crew later confirmed to me she had heatstroke, which when it evolves as far as fitting, is a medical emergency. We were all quite shaken by the event, however we attempted to finish our meal. Our son had completely lost his appetite and was still quite upset from the reaction of the husband who had shouted at him “You ain’t a doctor” when he was putting the lady in the recovery position to stop her from choking. This was exacerbated by the fact that he still had a pile of vomit a couple of feet from his chair/our table, which incidentally had still not been cleared up the next morning when we checked out of the hotel. Over the next hour or so I saw the Manger at least another 3 times and on each occasion his head was lowered and all eye contact was avoided. On leaving the restaurant we were happy to have learnt that the lady was ok and had been discharged. We were then approached by a fellow guest who told us he was appalled by the treatment we had received from the hotel. At the time I hadn’t really considered it, but in hindsight agree. We had helped a fellow guest who was in dire need of assistance and had interrupted our own celebratory meal and evening to do so and had not even had so much as a thank you or even acknowledgement from the Manager/Hotel for doing so. No one had thought to offer to move us to another table (there were still empty tables, but we were still so shaken we hadn’t even considered it). The guest who was disgusted by the management was shocked by the fact that we weren’t even offered a drink or free coffee by means of a goodwill gesture to thank us for our intervention or by way of an apology for the interruption. On a side note, I had the worst night sleep ever in the room. I know probably everyone in the country did that night, but the size of the fan provided in the room was far too small. We ended up sleeping with the patio doors wide open with a voile separating us from the communal courtyard; this still wasn’t enough and I for the first time ever had to sleep on a wet towel to get some relief from the heat. In the morning, to add insult to injury I was charged for the newspaper I had been offered on check in, where obviously no mention of the newspaper not being complimentary was made. Having run my own hospitality business for many years, I always judge an establishment by how it reacts when things go wrong and things definitely went wrong on this occasion. The almost £500 spent with the hotel on the room and dinner for four (not quite 3 course for everyone) for the 14 hours we spent at the hotel did leave somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth). In my opinion, this was penny pinching to the extreme with a total disregard for customer service and customer safety.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing and missed the mark
Disappointing. We stayed for one night in the hotel, I was expecting better from the reviews and descriptions. On arriving in the car park, we were told that the lift was broken so we carried our bags to the front door, and then had to carry up two floors to our room. No one from the hotel offered to help. On an admittedly warm night the room was uncomfortable, although it was a superior double, it was very small and the fan provided had such a short extension it could not be used without being on the bedside table. With all the windows wide open we were woken up at 3;30 in the morning by returning revellers. The room itself was tired, for example, the shower control was missing the lever and the tv control missing the cover so the batteries fell out.

I have stayed at Harts hotel 3 times now and every time the stay has been excellent, on my last visit my daughter was unwell and we had to stay an extra night, the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. My favourite hotel in Nottingham.

Its a pleasant place but really the rooms are too small. No where to put suitcases etc. You can live with that for a short stay because among other things they have a nice restaurant. However this time we were told on one night that we could not eat in the restaurant because it had been booked for a function. Then we were told we could eat outside. Then we were told the food would be at least an hour. Then we were advised to go somewhere else, which turned out to be closed for rebuilding. You really cannot run a hotel / restaurant and then tell hotel guests they cant eat there. They also need some staff training. We were told by different staff to park in different places , then admonished by one member of staff who told us in an aggessive manner to move the car. I doubt we will be back.
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in in the UK
Stayed here for one night at the weekend just gone for a gig with my partner. Absolutely loved the stay at this hotel, I actually felt disappointed we were only there for the one night. It feels tucked away in a leafy corner of Nottingham city centre I didn't even know existed, despite being quite familiar with Nottingham. I liked the quirky layout, from where you come in from the car park to the reception and up to our room. A really nice experience compared to most bog standard 'box' hotels. It just had a really nice, warm feel. The garden areas looked great, though we sadly never had time to experience the bigger back one which looked very tidy and pleasant. Our room, albeit quite small, felt cosy and was very comfortable and clean. Great, modern bathroom. However, I think what I loved most was the brilliant views from our window, looking out over to the west as this part of Nottingham where the hotels sits is almost like on top of a hill. A great location too, with only a few minutes walk into the centre. Staff were very friendly too. It just had a lovely feel to it and next time I go to Nottingham I'll be looking to book here again.
Be the first to ReplySmall but comfortable
Overall it was a pleasant stay. Nice powerful shower and comfortable bed meant we slept well. The only downside was the room being small and , if we’re being picky, slightly outdated deco. Would stay again for one night but small room would make a few days tricky .
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel but not suitable twin rooms
The hotel is beautiful, perfectly located and the service was really good. Sadly however, the room we booked was specifically a twin which was not in anyway suitable for our needs and situation. We booked the hotel at an expensive rate due to all of the pre-mentioned factors and were saddened by the room layout, size and the fact that it was not, in my opinion, a true twin. Basically it was two single beds pushed together (with no gap). The room was also too small to address this layout. In addition, when I raised the poor twin room with reception I was advised that it was because they are a 'boutique' hotel. I was a tad taken aback given I was not questioning the style of the hotel or location, but, the practicality of the room. Picture attached so please make your own mind up before you book a twin. Overall, service good, location perfect, decor quite nice, room size and layout extremely poor.

Be the first to ReplyGarden room is ideal for pooches!
We had a wonderful stay with my parents, my daughter and our dog. Staff were very helpful, the room was comfortable and very clean and having a room that backed onto the lovely garden area was perfect for our four legged friend. Decent breakfast offer and a great location right by the castle.

Generally lovely in all regards. Not cheap but suite stylish and comfortable, parking expensive but v convenient and had a lovely evening meal. Reception/bar staff couldn't have been any more polite and attentive and our French waiter deserves a special mention.
Be the first to ReplyComfortable hotel convenient for visiting Nottingham
Positives:
Very comfortable room, excellent bathroom, good views from 1st floor window (hotel is situated on a hill). Staff very friendly and helpful.
Well stocked mini bar in the room. Complementary coffee tea and biscuits and the addition of fresh milk was a nice touch.
Hotel sited in a very quiet area of the city but only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Nottingham.
Negatives:
Lift was temporarily out of order during our visit which was a nuisance, as the car park is accessed by a steep slope. Car park was otherwise convenient, but costs £9.95 for a day.
Lovely but strangely high deposit required for room!
The hotel itself is lovely, food was delicious and our room was perfectly comfortable.
The only down side was that this was a Christmas present for me and my daughter from my husband and the hotel wouldn’t take pre payment from him at any point in the last few months (only able to pay on the phone at checkout apparently which seems very outdated and you’d think a pre authorised card would be appreciated) which rather dampened the idea of this being a gift when I had to pay an almost £300 deposit on check in. This was later refunded when they processed my husbands card details at checkout but did make for a rather unsuccessful Christmas present which is a shame!
Good but could be great
Stayed here before feel it hasn't fully hit the mark post lock down, although it's still very good. A few observations that would get it back to 5 out of 5:
1) Tele in rooms are placed in strange areas
2) The hotel still seems stuck in the minibar era, which clutters the coffee tea making facilities
3) The breakfast lacks pastries
4) the celeb pics on the wall in the restaurant are imo tiresome, who cares if they ate there
5) some common parts could do with a freshen up
Still a very nice hotel.
