Beautiful! Everything was beautiful! This is an intimate
Beautiful! Everything was beautiful! This is an intimate place. Cozy with great lighting and delicious food. Our drinks and desserts and entrees were perfect. The cod was mellow, with kale and chic peas. The flavor with the delicate fish was exceptional. My friend ordered the pizzocheri with mushrooms and thyme. So delicious! The grilled garlic bread was exceptional. Our server Lauren was delightful... the right amount of interaction and attentiveness. Order the olive cake for dessert. So good! We received complimentary champagne for our birthday girl. Honestly, this was an amazing experience from start to finish. GO.
Be the first to ReplyIt was out first time there and unfortunately, the last.
The ambience is nice, wait staff was good. The food, however, was incredibly overpriced for what it was. The portions (we had cod and steak) are laughably small; entrees come in appetizer size.
Be the first to Reply$100 per head for beets, bread, pasta and 2.
5 cubic inches of way overcooked cold cod.My wife likes it but I don't understand why so we've been multiple times so it's not just a one off. Consistently shitty waiters with antagonistic attitude for no reason. This time he spent less than 5 minutes at our table and of course expected a $60 tip. He was rude and arrogant. Just a basic piece of shit waitron. Unbelievable that it's got such a reputation, it's gross food with a bad attitude that takes forever to come out and the waiter's attitude is wack. Don't waste your money or time. It's horrible.

After all these years, this place is still one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food remains delicious but also interesting and creative. The staff are always helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and food and wine in general. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Glad they've lasted this long, and I look forward to returning many times!
Be the first to Replyphenomenal food and service every time i go.

Came to hearth for their thanksgiving experience which was exceptional from all angles. Restaurant had nice feel vibes, wasn't too empty or too full, table was ready immediately when we arrived and courses came well spaced out timing wise. All of the courses were well prepared, unique from a flavor perspective and well paired with the wine tasting menu. Not cheap but well worth it
Be the first to ReplyA friend and I went for dinner last night and were happy
A friend and I went for dinner last night and were happy to get a table after a lot of wandering. And we got it much faster than the initial 30 minutes the hostess had said.Beautifully-laid out space and quite festive. Love the brick walls, that it was busy but not noisy and that the tables are well separated from each other. Also, our waitress was great. We started with the pear and percorino salad. Very flavourful with different textures. Maybe could have been mixed a little better. We couldn't get the garlic bread unfortunately (supply chain issues). Instead we got the hearty bread and butter- delicious and a decent portion for two. Definitely could have eaten more of it. My friend had the beef and ricotta meatballs and was somewhat underwhelmed. She also thought $24 was a lot for just meatballs. I had the Ribollita, a hearty vegetarian soup with tuscan beans and sourdough croutons. Nice and savoury.I'm giving it four stars because the menu is pretty small and the prices are quite steep. I'd love to while away the hours there but only if I'm able to afford an indulgence for a special occasion.
Be the first to ReplySo here we are, at another lower Manhattan restaurant.
I have been to several businesses and have sampled much, but This little old restaurant in lower Manhattan, is a joy. It is not super expensive and the menu doesn't boast the artistry of the Louvre in France. It's just good, basic food... Well, maybe a little more than 'basic'.We, MommaK, baby girl A and boyfriendK, started with veal and Ricotta Meatballs and the grilled Mushrooms (Hen of the Woods Mushrooms) - wow! MommaK and I split a beautiful Pinot Noir....not to be missed...I and BoyfriendK both had Pork Ragu Pasta. MommaK and BabygirlA had Panna Cotta pasta....ka-freakin-chow. The food was good, solid and well prepared. Our server, Lauren, was amazing and well versed. Her homage to Hearth was literally tatoo'd on to her arm....and she was a pleasure! I would recommend her help.Bottom line: DO THIS!
Be the first to ReplyWe went here for Thanksgiving dinner.
They put tables along a narrow corridor in back by the kitchen away from the main dining room - apparently to accommodate as many tables as possible. It was like being relegated to the kids table or something. When you have reservations months in advance, that sucks...kind of criminal. Our server was nice enough. She told my daughter they didn't have hot cider, despite it being listed plainly on the drink menu. I mean, no big deal. But kind of not nice for a kid. Especially when they're already sitting at the kids table. The first course involved a serving of biscuits. We each got one small one. They were scrumptious. But then we waited 20 minutes for the soup. No joke. We watched others around us who were seated after us get served well before us. We started to feel like maybe it was us. Our server was too busy yaking it up with other tables to notice. My kids didn't want me to make a scene. Blah blah blah. Finally she came by. And clearly they had effed up. Just forgot about us. the rest of the meal was good. Mashed potatoes some of the best I've ever had. Loved the Turkey - dark and white. Stuffing was delish. Deserts were lovely; but again, so chintzy on the serving size. Like embarrassingly so - esp the apple tart. And then wine pairing? From the finger lakes...I mean, come on. It was an economically priced pairing, but still. I wouldn't mind trying Hearth again for one of their normal menus. As long as they promised to sit me in the adults room and they weren't charging me an arm and a leg for a mediocre prix fixe. Still mad about that soup.
Be the first to ReplyCame here one night for dinner with three others.
I loved the atmosphere, and even moreso, the seats around the open kitchen, which I didn't see upon entering the restaurant, but saw when I visited the restroom. We started off with some Warm Sourdough, which was super crusty and was delicious slathered with the accompanying grass fed butter. Burrata was also a hit, served alongside roasted autumn squash. Campo Rosso Chicories is a salad composed of shaved watermelon radish, raddicchio, in a beautiful bagna cauda vinaigrette. It was delightful and I couldn't get enough. But the star for me was the Cantabrian Anchovies. Briny and full of umami, it was perfect atop a slice of bread, lightly buttered, and finished with sprigs of dressed parsley. Entrees included Berkshire Pork Chop, which came with wonderful red cabbage and farro hit with a good amount of acid. Perfectly balanced flavors. Next, Wild Tilefish sits in a fennel kissed broth with mussels and shelling beans. We also ordered some sides. My favorites were the Sauteed Escarole and Roasted Hen of the Woods.Service was great too. Our server was an absolute darling!
Be the first to ReplyFood was okay, but service was below average.
There wasn't one specific waiter assigned to each table, they all kept switching out. Water wasn't filled and no one came to check on us. Food took about 50 minutes to come out and it was nothing to write home about - the flavors just were off. We got the fava soup, cacio e pepe polenta, burger, and cod, and everything just tasted kind of "off." Took another 15 minutes to get anyone to bring us the check. Fun ambience, but probably won't return.
Be the first to ReplyTHE RICOTTA TOAST! MUST! Mouthwatering.
My husband and I weren't too hungry (which turned out well since the portions are pretty small) so our dishes were actually the perfect sizes for us! He got the meatballs (comes with just 2 so if you're hungry I would definitely suggest ordering another dish as well. The "cacio e pepe" polenta didn't quite taste how I would have anticipated (thinking "cacio e pepe" pasta) - but it was nonetheless delicious! I ordered the small whipped ricotta toast and it was just the right amount. The candied pepitas and poached apples added just the right amount of sweet and salty.
Be the first to ReplyTasting menu is amazing and great value.
Literally every course was great (squash, radish, three pastas (esp macaroni ragu), meats (duck and meatballs), and bunless burger. Service is so thoughtful and attentive too. Still amazing after all these years.

Be the first to ReplySomething about Hearth just makes you feel like you're home.
The food is wonderful and well-priced for the quality meal you'll receive. The cecina, braised rabbit, and pastas are absolute show stoppers. Like Chef Marco Canora says of their ingredients: better is definitely worth the bother.

Thank you Chef for a wonderful meal! Steak and pork dishes were delicious and the pear salad & oil cake were amazing. Christine thanks for fitting us at the kitchen table top and great wine recommendations! It was a lovely dinner with friends!

The most perfect comfort meal in East Village is @hearthrestaurant . The portions are definitely on the smaller side so sharing is best with a lot of options. I loved the beef and ricotta meatballs with polenta and would eat them again. Only thing id do differently is order more! PS this spot is so cute, they have boxes on the table to put your phone in to be in the moment with your guests #food #meatballs #polenta #italian #comfort #foodblogging #nyccarbs #foodporn #resy #opentable #restaurantweek #eastvillage
Be the first to ReplyLovely meal on a cold winter night.
The space is so inviting and cozy. Our server (slim bubbly young man on evening of Sunday 2/6) was so friendly and fun-loving. Food was delicious, all dishes had a surprising and welcome complexity. We had the Japanese yam, cod, olive oil cake, sautéed greens and polenta. The Moscato d'Asti paired with dessert was yummy! The broth that cod was served in, so good I spooned up every last bit. And cod was cooked perfectly as well.We picked the perfect place to catch up with a friend. A+ for ambience, service and food! On my list of favorites!
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, cozy and warm, menu is original.
Don't leave without trying the polenta or the Japanese sweet potato

Came here for their restaurant week deal and we were definitely not disappointed! We also did the wine pairing, which was a fun add on. Make sure to get the meatballs!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is amazing.
I had the garlic bread which was so incredibly yummy. Still thinking about it. The pear salad was phenomenal. And the pork Ragu was spot on. Drinks are very good also. And the price point was not bad at all. Totally love this place. The ambience is phenomenal and the service was wonderful.

While I can't say I've ever sat down for a full meal at Hearth, I truly appreciate the side street bar for all that it offers: good wine selection, bread and cheese, and always an open seat with friendly service. And of course, the to go bone broth is a life saver.

The space looks gorgeous, but our waiter was a little snotty and even had a little bit of attitude. We didn't have reservations, it was 7:30 and the restaurant was three-quarters empty. I really hate it when they give you an attitude as if walk-ins are somehow not welcomed. We ordered cocktails and one was completely boozy and the other one tasted watered down and came in a teeny glass. I politely asked if I could get a splash of chartreuse added (of course I'll pay for the shot) and I was quickly dismissed with a condescending smile and was informed that it was "pre-made" and he walked away, so guess it wasn't an option. Such odd service for what seemed like a nice restaurant. The olive oil cake was also dry, so maybe it was sitting for a few days. I wouldn't be excited to bring friends here.
Be the first to ReplyPrices are high for what you get but always delicious.
Lots of veggie options. Not a vegetarian but like their veggies!
