Her Place Supper Club Philadelphia Reviews from The Last Year
Wonderful dinner!
Wonderful place! I had the salmon with a side of marinated cucumbers and it was delicious! My server was Marisa and she was attentive and friendly- this is a great place to get a delicious meal!
We went with another couple we regularly hang with.
Service was fantastic, all of the food was incredible, and the vibe is upscale, but relaxed. Amanda did a great job introducing the meal and delivering on the hype. Add ons were great too!
Her place is definitely worth the hype.
I always love a chef's menu, but this place takes it to another level because everyone gets the chefs menu. There are 2 seatings each night and there's a nice community vibe in the restaurant and they encourage tables to take with each other. Then, the chef explains in detail what each dish is and where the ingredients come from. It is such a unique and special experience. The menu changes every couple of weeks based on what ingredients are in season, etc. the menu when we went did not disappoint. Everything was SO unique and delicious. The service was amazing as well! I can't wait to come back and try another menu of theirs!
I've got a major girl crush on Her Place Supper Club.
WOW, just wow! I'm in absolute awe of the dining experience I had last night. Truly a gem. From the music soundtrack, to the amazingly attentive service and all female staff, to the intimate dining setting, to the passionate chefs who took the time to ring the bell and explain every single dish in detail, to making every single person dining in that room last night feel so welcomed and last but not least, to the thoughtfully curated dishes and empty plates left behind begging to be licked - what an epic dining experience + one that both my husband and I will never forget. So happy Presidents Day (Monday) allowed me the opportunity to make it to a dinner during the week. EVERY SINGLE dish I tried, I absolutely loved. Not one bad item on the menu, not a single one! One Recommendation: Get all of the add-on specials, there is no 'going wrong' at Her Place. Try it ALL. Showstopper Dish: Chitarra w. Clams A big round of applause to Amanda Shulman. Truly impeccable. I'm telling everyone I know that I love her and 'Her Place'.
Totally lived up to the hype.
Worth a trip to Philly just for the experience and cuisine.
Great food, warm and knowledgeable staff.
Menu is posted each week so check it out to make sure what's being served is what you like as there are no substitutions.
Reservations are released every Sunday for the next two
Reservations are released every Sunday for the next two weeks (different in 2024 than in the past) at 3pm PST (6pm EST) and the menu is different every 2 weeks. Amanda has really done something special in Philadelphia. Coming here was such a treat. It's a small restaurant so the atmosphere was very warm and cozy, but the size wasn't what made it cozy, it was the head chef. I have never been to a restaurant where the whole restaurant was silenced so that she could walk through every little detail on the menu. It was so great to hear about every pairing and ingredient and she also presented the add on options that are available for the day. Certain items come in pairs, and it's done like that on purpose so it can complement one another. The first course was an orange salad with fete de moines (funky cow milk cheese) and hazelnuts. It was delicious. If you don't know, oranges and cheese pair very very well together. The crunch of the hazelnuts also added the extra layer that elevated this appetizer. What came with this was the English muffin and a foie gras spread on top with spots of fig jam. The sweetness of the fig jam complemented the foie gras very well. It was delicious. The second pair that came out was the fried skate cheeks (fish) with a tartar sauce and a celery root slaw. This was like the fish in fish and chips. The batter was very light and crispy and the tartar sauce was also full of flavor yet not thick and overpowering. But the star of the show was the celery slaw. It paired so well with the fried fish. You get the taste of celery to know that you're eating celery, but it is soft and easy to eat and feels so refreshing when eating something fried. What came as a pair was a broiled scallop with a trumpet butter gratin. The bed of gratin that was so good. I added the beef tartare and hands down it was the best tartare I've ever had. They fermented/pickled peppers from the summer and that was on top of the tartare as a kind of sauce. It was amazing. The tartare was so flavorful and fresh and tasted like summer because of the pepper sauce. What came after was one of the main courses. It was a potato ravioli and the chef described it as a campbells soup but better and I would have to say it's definitely better. The spinach was so sweet and the tomatoes were so fresh. So yes, I guess campbells but way fresher and better ingredients. Another main was the duck breast with red wine sauce. I actually thought this dish was one of the worst ones of the night (worst of the best). What this was paired with was the star though. It was a duck leg confit salad with nuts, pickled, and shallots. It was so delicious and the ingredients worked so well together. For dessert there was a pavlova dessert with citrus sorbet on the inside. A pavlova is a meringue based dessert. And this one had this as the shell with the sorbet in the middle. I paid extra for a crepe cake and it was definitely worth it. Many delicious layers with a chocolate sauce.
Last night, I took my wife, out to "Her Place" in Philly to
Last night, I took my wife, out to "Her Place" in Philly to celebrate the end of the year. We were excited to try their $100 pre-fixe menu, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to our expectations. Firstly, the chicken oysters were a letdown. They were rubbery and lacked flavor, which was disappointing given the hype. Then came the lamb dish - it was a mere 3 oz slice that was just average in taste. For a place that charges a premium, I expected a bit more in terms of quantity and quality. The appetizers didn't leave a lasting impression either. They were forgettable and did nothing to elevate the dining experience. Overall, I felt the meal was overpriced for what was offered. The inconsistent quality and the underwhelming portions made me feel like I didn't get my money's worth. It's unfortunate, but I don't see us returning to "Her Place". It feels like this experience was more of a miss than a hit.
Hands down one of the best experiences and meals we have
Hands down one of the best experiences and meals we have had since moving to Philly! We had a family member visiting and thought it would be a perfect time to share this experience together. We were treated by a visiting chef for His Place Thai Edition and from start to finish it was incredible. We started with amuse-bouche of cantaloupe with a meatball and greens. Followed up with a noodle dish, a ceviche style dish, a cold clam dish with a chimichurri. For the entrees, a green curry and fried lump crab dish was served. The fried crab was incredible so we had to ask for another one! Before every dish, the chef described the inspiration behind it and it was honestly so educational! Finished off with a Thai inspired flan dish and some of her places famous chocolate chip cookies! Also want to give a big shout out to the som for an INCREDIBLE wine recommendation! We can't wait to come back when the chef is back to have a different experience!
tl;dr this self-described "supper club" achieves a balance
tl;dr this self-described "supper club" achieves a balance of sophisticatedly innovative and comfortably cozy, and it is certainly one of my favorite restaurant experiences in the city In the midst of the pandemic, Amanda Shulman signed a temporary lease in Rittenhouse Square to showcase her "supper club" concept: a rotating, locally sourced menu in an intimate and personal setting. Fast-forward 2 years, and Her Place was a resounding hit: the biweekly reservation drop is a challenge that rivals Zahav, Her Place's sister restaurant My Loupe has opened just blocks away to critical acclaim, and Shulman has garnered back-to-back nominations for Best Emerging Chef from the James Beard Foundation. I've lived just around the corner of Her Place since it opened -- and I'm glad that I finally had the opportunity to give it a try. Even though Her Place is the new kid on the block, it feels infinitely timeless and effortlessly comfortable. Marble tables and mismatched wooden chairs are pressed into the tiny space, and each table has a fresh flower and a live candle. The whitewashed room has forest-green trim and plenty of artsy framed posters. The sizzle from the open kitchen mixes with the low hum of instrumental music and 2000s hits. To kick off the meal, Shulman greets the room from the open kitchen in the back, and she invites the guests to introduce themselves to each other. Then, she gives an in-depth illustration before each course and supplement. My partner and I pounced on a reservation right when they were released on Sunday evening. When we arrived, the staff immediately made us feel at home. We dove into our meal with an amuse-bouche: a crispy cheese sandwich with rhubarb jelly and foie gras mousse. The strong sweetness of rhubarb complemented by the characteristically rich liver well. Next, we received a giant beef bone, sliced in half to easily access the marrow. The herby marrow melted in my mouth, and the springy fava beans perfectly complemented it. The accompanying focaccia was drenched in brown butter and toasted until crisp. Further, the simple side salad offered some acidity to cut through the rich marrow. Next, we received grilled asparagus with ramp-based ranch dressing, which we upgraded with a fried soft-shelled crab. Everything was crisp, and the lemon nicely offset the substantial ranch. The pasta course consisted of pillowy ricotta gnocchi, enveloped in melted cheese and served in a creamy crab sauce. For our main course, we were served buttery, perfectly charred scallops with a sweet-and-salty sweet onion "cream" and crunchy lovage. Across both, the combination of flavors and textures was masterful, and each bite was as mouthwatering as the last. Our meal concluded with an almond shoehorn pastry, schmeared with strawberry whipped cream and lemon curd. It was light and flaky, with occasional crispy sugar crystals mixed throughout. My partner and I were floored by the meal, and we would have been happy if it ended there -- but Shulman herself visited each table to drop off take-home baggies of duck fat "Chex Mix". Dinner for 2 ran just over $200 (after tax, tip, and our crab supplement), and we agreed that it was worth every penny. As my final supper before moving permanently to Los Angeles, Her Place was an outstanding occasion to celebrate my near-decade in Philly. If I were to list the best fine "special occasion" restaurants in Philly, Her Place would no doubt rank among the top -- go ASAP before Shulman moves on to bigger and better things.
I want to preface this review by telling everyone that I
I want to preface this review by telling everyone that I absolutely love food and spend a lot of time in restaurants. We've all had bad experiences in restaurants for one reason or another, but even when I've had them, I never write a bad review. Take a look at my profile...I've had this account since 2017 and haven't written a single review. In any case, I walked into Her Place last night by myself. The hostess or manager walked up to me and I asked if they had any availability that evening. She told me they might have an 8:30 table available and that she would have to check. I said great and politely asked if I could just take a quick look at the menu first (the restaurant changes their menu often, and since there's one or two things I can't eat, I want to make sure the menu works for my particular restrictions. I did not say anything about that to this woman though) and she gave me this odd look, then said "It's a Thai tasting menu for $125.00...that's probably not what you're looking for." I was completely caught off guard and couldn't believe what she had said to me. What a condescending and presumptuous thing to say to someone. Anyone. And that's besides the fact that in all the years I have been passionately eating out in restaurants, I have NEVER...not once...had a restaurant have a problem with asking to look at a menu, let alone saying something like that. How do you treat someone in that manner? And the ironic thing about what she said to me was that I actually love amazing Thai food and have eaten in some of the best Thai restaurants in the country (Pok Pok, Uncle Boons, Lotus Of Siam, Kalaya), and I have done countless tasting menus (Alinea, French Laundry, Vetri, Le Bernardin, etc) as well, so I would have absolutely stayed for that tasting menu had it not been for that inexcusable interaction, because I will never step foot in a place that treats people like that...not now and not ever. To anyone reading this at Her Place. Above all, you are in the hospitality industry. Do better. Treat people better. This is just common sense and common courtesy. I strongly encourage anyone out there reading this to eat elsewhere, and as a public service, let me recommend a number of Philadelphia's incredible restaurants to you, that not only have award-winning, world-class food, but who also treat everyone well. RESTAURANT (neighborhood): A.Kitchen (Rittenhouse Square) River Twice (Passyunk) Lark (Bala Cynwyd) Kalaya (Thai) Zahav (Society Hill) Irwin's (South Philly) Vetri (Center City) Friday Saturday Sunday (Rittenhouse Square)
Nice place for a quick bite
Had a nice chicken salad. Choice is hard! Service is nice and it's really nice to sit here plus I get to charge my phone! Oh, and enjoy some air-conditioning...

I've earned $150 in a transaction and am not able to send this to my account. It's been rejected 3 times because I'm asking for too much?
The customer support function has provided zero responses and there are so many fees on the deposit process. What the heck? Has anyone been able to withdraw $ from earned bids?

You can only deposit $50 at a time until you earn the āSales and Low Refund Medalā I believe. Im new to this as well but the ability to deposit more money at once and increase your amount of listings comes with that medal.

Someone else posted that they were only able to transfer $50 at a time so maybe thatās why it says youāre asking for too much. I havenāt sold anything yet so I have no personal experience but I would try $50.
