I'm not one to leave bad reviews but this place demands a price and I think people need to know. We arrived with a reservation and were brought to a booth backing up to the open kitchen promptly. I didn't realize the hostess had an attitude until I asked if a window table was possible. she replied with a lot of attitude,"I didn't know that was a preference ". I looked around at a mostly empty restaurant and saw several booths by windows empty. So I said politely that I hadn't realized that it was possible to make requests like that through their online reservation service. She said that she only had a window table, so since we preferred a booth we sat. But the weird attitude was so unusual and off putting. Our waiter arrived and was very pleasant and remained so throughout. We had the artichokes to start , which were pretty good though not even a close second to Buckeye Roadhouse's, sorry.Salads and Ahi Tartare arrived and were good, too. I ordered the salmon and had specifically asked for it to be cooked medium rare as I can't stand dry salmon. When our entrees arrived, my salmon was over cooked, bummer. But I asked the runner to take it bacit, explained that I ordered it med rare and it was over. My family began enjoying their Hawaiian ribeyes and double cut pork chops and said they were nice but definitely needed salt, which was on the table. Fifteen minutes later my second salmon arrived (pretty quick) and the woman who brought it put it down in front of me while loudly proclaiming that she will wait here while I check to see if it's cooked properly. Such a strange service practice since it was their kitchens fault that my dinner was delayed and now it felt like they were annoyed with me about this. Did the chef not have confidence that they could cook it correctly? Would think that she would be more gracious but none of that was present. I cut the salmon open and even though it was still a tad overcooked, I said it was fine because I didn't want to subject my family to another delay and also, she was so unpleasantly intense. We finished entrees and had the key lime pie, chocolate pot de crème and chocolate sundae for dessert. All were pleasant if not amazing.Overall, this is an expensive restaurant and the service does not correspond. There are lot of places in SF to spend hundreds of dollars on a dinner that makes everyone feel happy and appreciated as a customer, but this restaurant is not one of them. I see from other reviews that good service here can be selective, and I have to say in my time there I saw some people asked to remove their hats and some not. And it did seem to correlate to appearance. To note, we were a white presenting family, although multigenerational so maybe , probably not their ideal customer. They can keep on being really rather awful, but we won't be back.
