Good but not amazing
Cheung fun was good quality but sauce was thin and watery. Good flavour and super value for money but we get better in Sai Kung so we’re disappointed with the jaunt to SSP. Sadly, overhyped in our view.

There were empty tables with reserved sign yet we were asked to take different sides of a table sitting shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Totally unhygienic place to eat using COVID pandemic.
Be the first to ReplyRice Rolls al-dente style and I like it
The rice rolls here are famous! As I do not like the sesame sauce I asked for it without, when it came the rice rolls were in soy sauce. After trying the soy sauce, the soy sauce tasted like watered down soy sauce that was not salty so I added some chilli sauce, soy sauce and sweet sauce from the table to it. I did not experience the “silkiness” as others described it but it may have been the sesame sauce that gives it this effect. However the texture of the rice rolls were extremely al-dente and I loved it, it gives me a sense of fullness after I have eaten it. When noodles/rice are too soft, it feels like you haven’t really eaten anything. But after a while, the rice rolls get soft after absorbing the soy sauce, so next time I will just ask for PLAIN rice rolls without any sauce so they remain al-dente. The rice rolls have been rolled really taut and the diameter is slightly smaller than the usual ones. I will definitely be back for these rice rolls again.

Hop Yik Tai sells Cheong fun (rice noodle rolls) which are made fresh every day. They are incredibly smooth with the perfect texture and paired so well with their signature toppings; a sweet sauce, sesame sauce, soy and a dusting of sesame seeds. I personally wasn't a fan of the sweet sauce, but the sesame and soy combo was a winner! There are 3 sizes to choose from and makes the perfect 'alley-way eating' snack. It’s no wonder why there are queues all the time and this popular local eatery was also recommended in the Michelin Guide. They have a street-side stall where you can either stand roadside eating your Cheong fun, or do a takeaway. If you choose to eat in the restaurant you can add your own sweet sauce and sesame seeds to the dish.
