Houston's Pasadena Reviews from The Last Year
Manager, Shawn Martin, did not allow me to dine here
Manager, Shawn Martin, did not allow me to dine here because I smelled like weed. I even offered to go change my clothes and come back but to no avail. Couldn't believe it. I've been coming here for years. The service has been steadily declining over the past year. I'm really disappointed in how this was handled and the disregard of my medical needs.

Can never go wrong with any of the selections from Houston's. Must have the chocolate brownie with nuts as dessert. Two thumbs up
We visit Houston's in pasadena on occasions.
They do great steaks. Pretty nice ambiance. They do a great grilled artichoke appetizer. Highly recommend it

I absolutely love this place!! I came to celebrate me!! I found the first available parking spot as I entered, how lucky could I be?!?! And even though there were many people ahead of me, somehow, I got seated after about 30 or so mins. Lunch was delicious and perfect as ever!! Service was tops and their food is always amazing!!

Came to this restaurant with some ladies to celebrate the 85th birthday of my friend. The table ordered the artichokes with dipping sauce. They loved it. However, I'm not a fan of Artichoke. For lunch I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and it was very good! To me, it was a little pricey at $25, but it was good. My friend loves their Ruby Red Trout, and they raved about it! They also ordered the Spinach & Artichoke Dip, which was quite tasty, I must admit. The waiter was very nice and even pulled out his pocket knife to help open my friends present. We got there at 3 pm and the place was full. So I'm assuming since the one in the Valley closed, everyone is flocking to Pasadena to have their favorite dishes.
I went on a date here.
The artichoke is delicious, we waited maybe thirty minutes on a weekend night so it wasn't too bad. We sat at the bar and they were SOOOOO friendly here. Great food, great service, nice crowd. I would come back.
I am giving this restaurant that our family has loved for
I am giving this restaurant that our family has loved for over 20 years one star strictly because of a horrible experience and lack of response from management. I am adding the email sent below. The email was sent to the three general managers listed on the website. Our service from the server team and the food was great. HOWEVER, service from the general managers was disgusting and repulsive. Especially to someone who has been to Hillstone establishments in Century City, Miami, Rutherford, Pasadena, Yountville, and Irvine (previous El Segundo location as well). Hello Sean: It's been a little over a week since my family and I visited the Pasadena location of Houston's. My family and I (my husband and two of my three daughters) frequent the Hillstone brand, specifically your Pasadena, Yountville, and Rutherford (sometimes Santa Monica) locations. On this occasion (February 10th), we were visiting your Pasadena location for my husband's 53rd birthday. Our lunch experience started great with our server, Katherine. My fish (trout) was placed in front of me. I took a bite, and it was flavorless. I informed Katherine, and she promptly took the fish back. The fish was returned with the bite I took from it. Before I continue, I was told this is your policy, and like I said to Albert, that is a trash policy. I informed Katherine that I wanted a new piece of fish because this fish was returned to me over-seasoned and dry. Katherine respectfully and kindly apologized and took the fish back. Upon Albert returning with a new piece of fish, he confirmed your policy of reheating and returning food that has been eaten off of if it's not to the customer's liking. As mentioned, I informed Albert that the policy is trash for a restaurant of Houston's caliber and price point. We frequent restaurants like The Strand House & Nick's on 2nd and have never experienced anything like this. Honestly, for the 20+ years that we've visited Houston's I've never had to send food back; this was the first time. This is where the story goes south. Albert responds and continues to confirm this is the policy; I share my experiences at establishments like Houston's, why this was weird, and why I stand my ground on this policy being trash. Instead of Albert removing himself from the situation, he continued to put me in a position where I had to defend myself. I had to tell him bye, and I did not want to hear anything else he had to say. He starts to walk away, turns around, and says, "That is not fair, ma'am." I told him, "Bye, Albert, I do not have to listen to you or what you have to say." He says, "Yes you do, this is my establishment," with his R+D Kitchen Yountville chef's coat on. At that moment, my husband glared at him in disgust, and he then turned around and walked off. His statement regarding this restaurant being his establishment was disgusting and gave possessive motives that were unnecessary to display to a customer. Of course, when you read this, the situation does not seem as disgusting as it was, but rest assured, it was disgusting. Not to mention, for our family to be loyalists to the Hillstone Brand and to be treated like this was beyond repulsive. After the encounter with Albert, Katherina and Rosa were very kind, apologetic, and compassionate towards us and our needs. I needed to share this experience with you as the General Manager of "the establishment." I know that Albert is your "co," HOWEVER, horrible behaviors should not die without being exposed. I want to reiterate that his behavior was disgusting, and as I shared with Rosa, I am sure he would not have spoken to his wealthy white clientele that way. Oh, let me make this clear: he should never judge a book by its cover. Please note that "free food" is not what most people seek. Most people want the opportunity to share their experience with leadership without leadership responding the way Albert did. Regards, Alicia
Food is consistently delicious.
Management is really great and professional and so is the wait staff. I dine here regularly for meetings, special occasions, or just randomly drop by during the week when I'm craving something yummy. I usually get their burgers, chicken sandwich, sushi, artichokes and salads. Their food is simply phenomenal and ALWAYS consistent. Great place to bring clients or grab a bite to eat when in the area, the atmosphere is very chill but classy. Bar is usually open seating but if they're busy, they do have a separate wait list for that.

Came here for the first time for our anniversary and was absolutely amazed. The ambiance was perfect, the service was great, and the food was incredible. Every bite was delicious and was sad when I couldn't finished the rest.
Need work in the front of the house
Probably a great restaurant but the person who answered a call for reservations for Sunday was abrupt and rude. Those that recommended Houston’s and dine there regularly were taken back by the treatment and were certain the justification provided was at best incorrect.
Disappointed
Houston’s Restaurant doesn’t accommodate toddlers. We came for my grandmothers birthday lunch & was surprised to find out that they do not have child booster seats or high chairs. I’m posting this as an awareness post for new moms and the lack of support from places on the parenting community. I’d understand if this restaurant had a strict age restriction, but they don’t have one enforced and therefore not having the accommodations for infants, toddlers and you g kids is appalling to me. To my knowledge they have restrictions on their website listed, but the wording is misleading: “Our restaurants are generally not the best environment for young children. We welcome families, but we ask parents to keep children at the table and calm vocal infants or youngsters outside of the dining room. We do not offer child seating nor do we allow strollers in the dining room.” Kids will be kids and yes we can walk them outside as parents, but their dining guidelines are clumsily written. if you don’t want them, just say NO children, we only allow 16 and older or whatever. We mentioned we had a toddler in our party and nothing was mentioned to review their dining restrictions on their website and there was no mention of not having high chairs. The manager was not helpful and our conversation was disappointing. He left me feeling upset and discouraged. He told me about the guidelines on the website but no one said anything beforehand! Also , there were infants in strollers (even though on their website they say no strollers in the dining area) and older kids in chairs, but nothing to accommodate toddlers. My child also couldn’t sit in the booth because he kept standing so his shoes remained in my lap. We had no choice but to get our orders to go or for me to just hold him on my lap while we eat. On top of that we ended up getting to-go but also ordered a few quick bites but was clearly trying to be pushed out because we had ordered our main dish to-go. I’m disappointed and it feels discriminating. They clearly need ti rework their child policy. I understand and respect clearly outlined policies of not wanting kids but just say no we don’t allow kids or make an age range restriction. I’m disappointed by how the manager took my feedback and how he had me leave upset.
Not worth the drive to Pasadena
Houston's has lost its touch and flavor. I will not be returning. The sides were oh so healthy and bland. Not what I expected based on previous visits. They added Sushi to the menu for what? I will give them kudos for a tender steak.
Superb
Fabulous food with fabulous service from Carla. We are huge fans of Houston’s & a return visit to this outlet after many years did not disappoint. We started with cocktails at the bar & followed up with dinner of ribs & Hawaiian ribeye. Both dishes were delicious & the loaded baked potatoes were just the best. Cheese toast too was a great starter to share. Won’t likely be back in the area but would return here in a heartbeat. Just Love Houston’s.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Honest review of AT and advice to new joiners
Forget trying to snipe reservations online by waking up early and booking top restaurants at Carbone or Tatiana or Cote or 4Charles. After 2.5 months of booking reservations by setting up alarms, waking up early to sell appointments. It’s very hard to cash out on this app. During cash out, you have to pay $5 fee +3% transactions fee and max payout per day is $150.
Advice to new users:
- do not mass book reservations
- fill bids only
- don’t try to book reservations online, you need connections and call the restaurant
After putting in about 40 hours of work, I’ve made about $750 sale on this platform but gotten paid $0. Take this with a grain of salt.
Fraud
I believe this site to be a fraud. I paid $158 to get a reservation. Now they want my SS # and other private details in order to supposedly repay me.

Hello All,
I don’t know what else to do as I can’t transfer my cleared funds to my bank account. Customer support is close to non existing and not helpful. How can we keep selling here if we can’t withdraw what we have worked for. They say I have to wait 180 days. This is ridiculous!

Give the best answerPayout limits? Have 1k…
Am confused about the payout restrictions. Have nearly $1k sitting, wanted to withdraw some and am surprised to see I can only withdraw $50. If i have to do this everyday I’ll end up paying over $90 in fees just for withdrawing via ACH which doesn’t make much sense to me. Have opened a ticket regarding this, but any input or advice would be appreciated

Give the best answerAny seller support?
Has anyone found a way to get a question answered? From what I can tell there is no way to get in touch with anyone that works at/for AT. Other than the occasional admin posting a consultation offer here and there they are non existent. A lot of people have the same issue I have where we cannot cash out earnings. I cannot get my warning medal removed even though I am under the threshold. Sad to say but seems like AT is holding up everyone’s funds currently. Very scary and makes me wonder….Please reply if you read this admins and can help. Tried every way possible to get in touch

Give the best answerRestaurant Bought/Canceled Their Own Reservation
I accepted a bid for a popular restaurant in Los Angeles only to receive a phone call shortly thereafter informing me that the reservation had been canceled due to it being listed on AT. I of course need to subsequently cancel the reservation on AT but get this warning that my status will be negatively affected for doing so. I've reached out to customer support about this several times with no response, not sure what to do in this station. Hoping someone can advise.

Give the best answerQuestion about postpaid listings for prepaid bookings
I have a prepaid reservation, but I'm allowed to transfer that reservation to others for a price that I set (up to the total price I paid).
For selling POSTPAID reservations, do I charge the buyer the full amount of the reservation when transferring? And then the buyer pays something on top of that (which is what is listed in the AppointmentTrader listing?)
Major Issue for Seller
My money is being held hostage! Can you please remove my refund medal as I am below the 11% threshold and should be able to withdraw my full daily amount now? I have been teying for a long time to get a reply on this. Major issue for people looking to do good/right like you ask and make positive sales. Being able to access earned revenue is critical and not getting any reply is very concerning for your sellers. Lot of other people having the same issue. Once below the threshold you should auto remove the warning medals.

Give the best answerWell through rate holding money for 180 days
Just wanted to put this out there as I find it quite weird. AT will hold money if your sell through rate is to low. I find this strange as you would think that sell through rate should reflect more on AT not marketing their site well enough to generate sales. It seems weird to punish sellers for listings not selling.
