Hunan Slurp New York Reviews from The Last Year
Great food, like super authentic.
Super casual and everyone was nice and friendly. FYI the place is crazy bright, like don't expect to have a sexy date inside, the lights are brighter than the sun. But it's all part of the vibe i guess. The food is so good you won't care.
Loved this spot for a quick but delicious week night dinner.
We ordered the Beef Brisket rice noodles and the fish fillet rice noodles. The only cons were that the fish fillet came without being deboned so it was hard to completely eat a piece without any bones in it along with the beef brisket being a bit too fatty. However both had great flavor and would love to try new dishes here!
Really enjoyed the food.
We ordered stir fried green beans, stir fried cabbage, the pork and tofu lu fen, and the cumin pork ribs. Everything was really yummy and I would definitely return again.
Hunan Review
I always walk by this place, and have made many mental notes on how I need to try it due to the inviting cozy-modern architecture and the crowd who frequents here. They were a Michelin guide recommended restaurant in 2020 and 2021, not sure what happened last year smh. I honestly don't know how that works at all so I could be so ignorant on that. I walked in without a res one evening and was seated immediately. Table for 1 perks. Menu is completely digitized, which has become my major gripe post pandemic but I get it. The menu is a bit confusing on how to navigate and could be improved. I got the Slurp Classic Lu Fen, and it was exactly what I was hoping for. The perfect amount of kick on the spicyness level and just an overall phenomenal combination of flavors. I don't even know how to categorize this noodle dish, but I loved it. There is no broth it is just like a noodle based bowl. I have overdosed on ramen a bit and this was a great switch up.
We went on Halloween night and didn't make a reservation.
However there was no wait, probably since it's a week day. The food was very yummy, it wasn't too spicy in my opinion and the Hunan flavor was perfect, very authentic. We also got a soup and it was gigantic, wasn't able to finish it. The service was also really good. I love the ambience and we had a lot of fun chatting. Will come back again!
Definitely my fav restaurant.
Every dish was just too good!! Service was good and staff was attentive. Definitely reserve before or else you have to wait an hour. Would definitely recommend my fam and friends.
Delicious food, my friends and I call it "GOATnan Slurp".
Open kitchen is cool, the chefs have iconic chef hats. Everything on the menu is spicy though so if you are not into that beware
I had the eggplant and century egg dish and a side of rice
I had the eggplant and century egg dish and a side of rice noodles. It seems the menu on the website does not match the one in the restaurant exactly - unfortunately there were no vegetarian noodle dishes. The eggplant dish was tasty though - spicy, slightly numbing from Sichuan peppercorns, and flavorful. The food took a very long time to come out, they must have mixed up our order somehow.
The food is quite good, as is the service.
The decor is stylish, creating a more refined dining experience than you'll find in Chinatown. As you might expect, prices are higher than C'town, but reasonable.
Different from 3 years ago.
There is no tofu or pork in the rice noodle. Very salty and spicy
We ordered classic Lu fen, eggplant century egg, flaming
We ordered classic Lu fen, eggplant century egg, flaming frog, and fried egg & port. 5 star for everything!

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
