What an amazing night! The service was impeccable.
We felt like celebrities while dining at this beautiful and quaint restaurant. The maître d' was so friendly and nice the bartender, and out of his way to make us a special cocktail. Our food was so delicious and yummy. We wanted to come back the next night. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to an amazing experience.

Old School! If you want to know what it was like to eat at the upscale, white cloth Italian restaurants in New York in the heyday of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and Frankie Valli, you don't need to look in old newspapers or magazines, just head over to Il Tinello on West 56th Street. The waiters still wear white jackets and the recipes are still the same as the day they opened their doors. Their wine list is great, stocked with the classics. Don't think of it as a dining experience, it is more like time travel. If you want an amazing meal and to have a great evening, head over to Bad Roman but if you want to see what dining was like in the old days then give Il Tinello a try.

Went for dinner at the new E 46th street location and both the food and service (special thanks to Ray) was amazing! The pear and arugula salad was fresh, the veal ravioli was a crowd favorite, and the tiramisu was phenomenal. The restaurant has a cozy yet classic vibe with a great bar area. Will absolutely be going back!!

Given the plethora of pricey Italian restaurants in NYC, I was underwhelmed. The service, of course, given the price point, was very good. We were served complimentary cheese and olives and spicy marinated peppers. The cheese did not have the depth of the complimentary cheese served at Il Mulino. We had the cold and hot antipasto appetizer for the whole table. That was a nice assortment and the eggplant stood out. I had the Radicchio and Shrimp pasta. The Spaghetti, which I believe is home made, was well done, and cooked properly to the al dente consistency. There were 2 overcooked shrimps in the entree. The Tiramasu desert was a small serving that did not resemble tiramasu, and cold have been less sweet. The Tartufo seemed good and served with whip cream.

Well, I can say this was a first: the appetizer - SEAFOOD WITH MUSHROOMS ALLA MARGHERITA $24.25 that I planned to share consisted of 1 shrimp and 2 scallops. The servers were wonderful, and lots of theatrics including traveling show and tell trays and table side salads are part of the smoke and mirrors. Truly inflated prices on specials or wine by the glass where there's no menu to share at the time of ordering.. My entree of linguini pescatore was good (I asked for fra diavolo but it was not spicy) but feeling uneasy by the "experience" when leaving a restaurant is not the sign of satisfaction..

Eh, just another Italian restaurant covering up over priced sub par food with old world charm. Positives... all the staff were super friendly and accommodating when asked. Plus the decor, linens, and settings were refined amongst the old world setting. All a great basis for a potentially lovely evening.Critiques... $60 medium rare veal chop was served well done and no one checked in. Bruschetta was quite soggy (but the tomatoes had a great steaky umami, so compliments for that) . Asked for wine but wasn't served for 20 mins. sazerac was (confidently) made with only gin and lime juice. Upon explaining it was made with rye, absinthe, and peychaud's bitters, I was served rye and angostura bitters.I wouldn't go back. So many better options, but I wish them the best.

Came here with my sister for a sibling night out and we had a great time. Some of the kindest staffs and everything we had was amazing. We saw lot of diners with suits on and couples enjoying a romantic night out while at the restaurant. Perfect for any occasion!

Be the first to ReplyWow! The best orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe I've ever had.
From the greeting in Italian by the hostess, to the wine list, to the limoncello at the end. Everything was top notch. A little gem hidden in NYC! The staff was excellent, the food delightful and whole experience a pleasure. Will be coming back next time I'm in New York.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a very special evening at Il Tinello on October 22.
Cocktails were wonderful and the meal was superb. We were there in the early evening and therefore had the opportunity to engage with the staff, who were professional and fun. We cannot wait to go back! Thank you to all at Il Tinello who had our dinner so memorable.
Be the first to ReplyLet's start off by saying this - white table cloth dining
Let's start off by saying this - white table cloth dining with very attentive waitstaff. From the moment you enter - you are treated to exceptional service - coat checking, table side appetizer presentation, an Amuse Bouche, and a plentiful (and tasty) bread basket. Dining here is a treat - a splurge. Excellent and attentive service coupled with a good Wine list (labels presented in a leather bond book) and well prepared food. We had a Shrimp Scampi appetizer to share - 2 very large Shrimp, which meant 1 for each of us. For the price, we would skip this on a return visit. Our entrees were pasta dishes - a Carbonara and a Clam sauce. Both tasty and fresh. Small cleaned Clams and the Prosciutto was "smoky" flavored. We finished our dinner with well made Cappuccino and house presented cookies. Pleased with our choices and a special evening out.
Be the first to ReplyI went here for lunch w/a friend.
I'm gluten-free & lactose intolerant. Had called ahead to see if had gluten-free pasta w/bolognese sauce & was told yes. I ordered it & was probably the worst bolognese sauce-my corner diner is better. Had to ask for my water glass to be filled up 3 times-outrageous for an overpriced expensive restaurant! I would never come back + once got home I got sick as if the pasta wasn't gluten-free or there was onion or garlic in the sauce, which I'd asked about. Sadly I paid cash so I have no recourse. Called them & all they said was it's was gluten-free free-not even an offering of a free meal. I hope this terrible review steers you away from this restaurant if you have any food allergies or if you want to get out in under 2.5 hours. There were only 2 of us & each only ordered a pasta. Let me also say my friend's an accomplished cook, order pasta pesto which was made w/spinach. She hated it, complained but they kept saying it wasn't made w/spinach & made her a new order which was exactly like the 1st which I took home to my husband!! Run away from this place!!
Be the first to ReplyI've been dining my entire life at the most wonderful
I've been dining my entire life at the most wonderful places and I love restaurants more than anything.Last night I've had without any doubts THE WORST EXPERIENCE in a customer service IN MY LIFE.My friend and I have arrived at our 9pm reservation. We booked the table through the OpenTable for 3, but saying that our friend will join us a little bit later on.We have waited for more than 40 MINUTES for the table without any nice word, smile, drink on the house or basically any normal thing in hospitality that goes with their overbooking problem, because we were not the only one waited. At the very end when we couldn't wait any longer, after 40minutes I went to the manager and asked him when are we going to get a table. Just like that he said when your third party comes. I asked him since when is that rule? He replied to me "SINCE TONIGHT".You can't imagine how I felt at that moment.I couldn't believe my own ears. He was the most rude, arrogant manager and such a shame for this place. I promised him that I am going to spread a "good word" about this place. After a crazy argument with him, we immediately left the place and of course none of my friends and I are coming back. Another important thing to say, the same manager gave the table for 4 for 2 people.DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!I am really sorry to say this, maybe the food is nice and other stuff, but if a manager of the place- the main representative of the place doesn't know how to behave and after all that "Customer is always right", then what can I say about this place?! Zero hospitality that have ruined our night.
Be the first to ReplyWish I could put less star.
The worst experience in my entire life. After making reservation we had to wait 40min for the table and we got rude manager who basically kicked us out. We were not offered a drinks or a simple sorry. Hostess, don't get me even started. Strongly recommend NOT to go to this place. There are many other Italian restaurants around the corner that knows how to treat their guests.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous old school (in a good way) Italian restaurant.
Ordered online and pickup was easy. Chatted with the owner(?) while waiting. They've been there for 40 years and have seen it all. Delicious pastas and we went with the classics: (Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Carbonara, Caesar Salad, and Clams Casino). Plenty of unique pastas and other meats and seafoods on the menu too.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful ambiance.
Very polite and formal servers. Quality, outstanding food. Fresh ingredients. Authentic Italian. Tasty olds.
Be the first to ReplyIf you order something not on the menu, beware.
Veal entrees on the menu: $30. Off menu: $55. Are you kidding me? Excellent service, but very poor management.
Be the first to ReplyGreat quality service and food.
Atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable as well. Definitely coming back!
Be the first to ReplyFirst time there yesterday for my 11 wedding anniversary .
The the good was fantastic. The food tasted fresh. I would recommend the Cesar salad because you could learn how to make it. The service makes you feel very special. I love this place
Be the first to ReplyBack again and it was fitting.
Il Tinello was the last restaurant I dined at in NY before the pandemic so the dinner in NYC post pandemic indoors was the first!! And it is so good to be back! The service and attentiveness is the same as is the enthusiastic staff and welcoming atmosphere. The food...oh yeah still terrific! We started with some of the salads and the table appetisers, including the hot peppers which were delicious. Cheeses equally so...The appetiser special was the prosciutto and it was deliciously served with some balsamic and figs. Great combo! The entree was the veal and it was spectacular. Perfectly cooked and on a bed of spinach. The grill and salt were a delicious combo and enhanced the flavor. I highly recommend this place!!!
