Good ramen, quite salty honestly, and the broth is not as comforting as something like Ichiran. Noodles are good, the egg was a bit overcooked for my preference. It is not expensive here and you get a sort of contemporary cool-kid ramen, so don't expect something traditional. If you like spicy ramens this is a good place to be.

Ippudo, established in Fukuoka, Japan in 1985, has become synonymous with top-tier tonkotsu ramen. Known for its rich, creamy broth that simmers for hours, Ippudo delivers a depth of flavor that has captivated a global audience. As the chain expanded internationally, it preserved its hallmark: a blend of traditional techniques and contemporary flavors served in a sleek, modern setting. Today, Ippudo restaurants around the world continue to draw ramen enthusiasts eager to experience its signature dishes and warm, welcoming atmosphere. The karaka spicy was just mediocre. The noodles were very chewy but the broth was more spicy than flavorful. The takoyaki was one of the worst I tasted. Felt like a ball of flour. What we ordered: Karaka Spicy 3.5/5 Takoyaki 2.5/5
Be the first to ReplyWent to Ippudo with my boyfriend yesterday for a dinner.
We ordered the miso pork ramen, the vegetarian miso ramen, and potatoes. The potatoes were amazingly crispy, some of the best I've had. My vegetarian ramen was fantastic. The service was great, very informative on timing of our dishes coming out. Ambience was dim lit and perfect for a date night. Only note that there is a ton of oil in the broth, so watch out for that! It tastes amazing for a reason.

Ramen was flavorful but VERY salty, I do like the ramen consistency which is firm and chewy. The ramen is fairly spicy. The takoyaki was horrible. The texture was very doughy with only one small piece of octopus inside. It was as if they didn't put in the effort to make it or just heated it up as premade. If you're getting an appetizer def try something else on the menu.

Our entire experience was phenomenal! I do not like ramen, but I tagged along with my husband and our friends because they all love ramen. Our friend ordered an Ippudo Veggie Bun for each of us (we're all vegetarian) which he raved about and boy, was he right!! I'd never had one of these before but now I'm excited to come back to this restaurant, just so I can eat more of these!! I had two of them and some edamame while everyone else enjoyed their ramen. They have 3 vegetarian ramen options for those who want to enjoy ramen without having to worry about meat. Apparently they recently changed their menu as our friend's favorite ramen is no longer on the menu, but all of the ramen eaters at my table really enjoyed what they ordered! The ambience is low lighting with beautiful decor throughout the restaurant. The service was excellent! We were quickly taken care of by the friendly staff. Also, they have a very unique way of greeting guests as they are being seated! I won't spoil it, but will instead tell you to try this place to find out for yourself!
Be the first to ReplyI know Ippudo is a very popular place, but I don't really
I know Ippudo is a very popular place, but I don't really see the major hype. It felt like a pretty typical ramen place, but with slightly more gimmicks. We came on a weekday night with no reservation, and were almost immediately seated. We sat at the bar, so it was nice seeing the chefs prepare the food. Whenever someone walks into the dining room, the entire staff yells to welcome them in. It was fun the first few times, but got old pretty quickly. The service was very good, and I don't really have any comments there. The restaurant is definitely well decorated and has a nice vibe. As far as the food goes, the appetizers were amazing, but the ramen not so much. If the apps were an 8, I'd say the ramen was more like a 5 or 6. It felt like an oddly small portion, but by no means insufficient -- I'm just used to ramen positions usually being huge. Mine was also strangely oily. All in all, I'd say Ippudo would be a nice place to go if you're looking for ambiance, service, and an overall nicer experience, but if you're looking for amazing ramen, I think you'd be better off elsewhere.

Four of us had lunch here today; first visit for three in the crowd. Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service, terrific flavors....always one of my favorites in the city! We had a scheduling issue due to weather & traffic; they were very accommodating....love the place!

Ah, Ippudo--the perennial favorite of ramen enthusiasts and noodle novices alike. With its inviting ambience and hip bar vibes, it's easy to see why this place draws a crowd. But as any seasoned critic knows, looks can be deceiving. As a repeat visitor to Ippudo, I was hoping for redemption after a lackluster first experience. Alas, lightning didn't strike twice, and once again, I found myself in the throes of disappointment. Let's start with the Karaka Spicy--a dish that promised an added kick to Ippudo's signature tonkotsu broth. But alas, the egg on my face wasn't from the spice; it was from the lukewarm reception my taste buds received. The chashu, touted as a highlight, fell flat with its dry and chewy texture, leaving me longing for the tender embrace of a properly cooked pork belly. The Dreaming of You cocktail offered a glimmer of hope--a refreshing blend of IICHIKO SHOCHU and lemon sour that provided a welcome respite from the culinary letdown that preceded it. But alas, even the most tantalizing libations couldn't erase the taste of disappointment lingering on my palate. In the end, Ippudo left me torn. While I'm a big fan of the ambience and friendly service, I can't in good conscience overlook the lackluster performance of the star attraction: the ramen. Perhaps I'm missing something, or maybe I'm just not the target audience. But for now, I'll be taking my noodle cravings elsewhere, in search of a bowl that truly satisfies.

This place is just *mouth waters* Absolute MUST if you're a ramen lover. The vibes are unmatched. The food is amazing! The drinks were fun. And the service was wonderful! My husband and I visit this place each time we are in NY.

This was definitely the spot for a rainy NYC day! The place is intimate. Service was pretty fast too. We didn't wait too long for our ramen which was a plus. I had the Kuraka spicy ramen and it was good. Price range was a little expensive -- you have to pay extra for toppings (e.g. egg, seaweed, naruto). I also had the takoyaki balls which was pretty standard and lychee soda (which I liked a lot!) Overall, if you're craving for ramen in NYC, check this place out for a speedy meal. Prolly a very expensive one too.
Be the first to ReplyWe went to the Japan Fes and it's a madhouse.
Every booth has a massive lines. We only managed to get a boba drinks which is mediocre. After 30 mins, we have given up and start to look for Japanese restaurants nearby and this fits the bill. We also have Ippudo in San Francisco, so I know it's going to be good. We got to the restaurant around 11:30am and we were seated immediately. Since the kids are not too hungry, we ordered two ramens and an order of chicken karage to share. The server is super nice and got us sharing bowls immediately. She said please feel free to let her know if we want more noodles or broth. How nice is that?!?!I LOVE the miso ramen. It's so satisfying!! Chicken karage is very flavorful and juicy as well. Overall, it's 5/5 quick snack/lunch. The restaurant is chic and servers are all very friendly. We left around 12:45pm and the front lobby is packed! Glad we got there early and didn't need to wait at all. You should absolutely go and have some miso ramen!!
Be the first to ReplyWas so looking forward to having the octopus Takoyaki.
What a disappointment!! You need a search warrant to find the promised nuggets of octopus. It's all batter..and flakey rather than somewhat silky. Probably because they were prepped and frozen beforehand, Not here for that wonderful Japanese street food. The place was packed so I presume their other menu choices must be pretty good. And the attentiveness of the waiters is great.

Service: 9/10 Noah was great, but I kept feeling rushed with the bussers. They kept asking if I was done and I wasn't. I wished they waited a bit more but overall very attentive so can't dock them too much. Appetizers:Pork bunFriend #1 10/10Friend #2 10/10Cucumber:Me: 7/10 not as spicy as I usually get them at other locations and some were more salty than others. Not consistent.Friend #1: (7/10) - salty cucumber Friend #2: she didn't enjoy & want to rate it :( sorry.RamenNirvana Karaka spicy: Me: 7.5/10The broth was goood and if you like spicy get the badunkan paste !'!!! WORTH IT. However, If it's a veggie ramen, it should have more veggies, but that's just me. My veggie ramens usually come with either bok Choy, cabbage, spinach, corn or bean sprouts and this ramen had NONE OF THOSE. It had bamboo, noodles, green onions, noodles and tofu. If it's veggie ramen, I usually expect veggies but had to pay extra to get corn. Additionally, I asked Noah if the spicy paste was oniony and he didn't really know. I risked it and it had onions. I don't really like onions so I was able to scrape it off (thank god).AKAMURO ShinajiFriend #1 (9/10) Ramen and pork was delicious ! However, docked it because soft boiled egg was cooked a tad bit too much and the quantity of ramen could've a bit tad bit more. It looked like it was missing food - missing noodles and broth. It got me full but I could've used a bit more. Friend #2: 9.5/10 everything was great but lacking in pork Ambience: LOUD and edm music. waiter kept with the Japanese theme so it was nice.
Be the first to ReplyIt's a solid ramen place and I love their noodles.
I didn't love their miso it was way too salty though. Service is always great and it's nice and ambient/dark inside!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and service, easily one the best ramen
Great food and service, easily one the best ramen restraints in the city and recommend anyone visiting
Be the first to ReplyStellar service, great flavors.
A ramen go-to. Been coming here for years and don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ramen n buns.
Delicious n fresh. Crowded so her there early. Many options for your pleasure
Be the first to ReplyGreat ramen spot, especially if you're looking for more
Great ramen spot, especially if you're looking for more types of ramen than Tonkotsu ramen. This place also has amazing vegetarian ramen options. For this location specifically, the interior is a bit packed. If you're coming in pairs or small groups, you may be seated at the same table as other parties. Interestingly, the tables are also very wide, so if you come in a pair, they actually seat you side-by-side. Overall though, the ambiance is quite nice and the service is fast, even with how busy they get.I've tried their Tonkotsu ramen in other locations (it's also great), so I opted for the seasonal special - the sukiyaki spicy ver. The noodles are top quality, although they are lacking in terms of customization of thickness. The dish itself was quite sweet, but still holds a lot of the hearty savoryness that you'd expect from a ramen dish. Will definitely back to have it again, before they discontinue this.
Be the first to ReplyBest ramen in nyc straight from japan! Omg how lucky we are.
So happy we have it in nyc!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyPork Buns and Tonkotsu Ramen were always my choices
Pork Buns and Tonkotsu Ramen were always my choices whenever I ate at Ippudo and I had been there countless times over the years since they first opened on 4th Avenue. I always looked extensively at the menu but chose the same two dishes because I was very fond of them. However a few weeks ago I had gone with a friend and was told by the server that ribs were a special. Now I love ribs (who doesn't?) and could not resist ordering it. I also requested for a bowl of white rice. Jennifer had what my usual choices were Pork Buns and Tonkotsu Ramen. Her order came quickly but I was told that the ribs would take about twenty to twenty five minutes as they wanted to make sure that they were cooked nicely. Finally the ribs arrived and I started to eat. The flavor was rich but at times the meat seemed chewy when it should have been more tender. Having the rice made the ribs balanced in flavor. Next time though I will stick to the buns and ramen.
Be the first to ReplyIf possible 4.
8, but 5 stars felt better than 4.Maybe top 3 ramen. I really liked the broth. Ordered pork bun & Yokohama Tonkotsu. Also drank a delicious mango cocktail. Not sure where the 1 stars are coming from, I loved the ambiance. The ladies bathroom was a great experience. Arrived around 5 and got seated right away.I loveee bao buns. The dough was beautiful, but mayo in a bao bun. Eh. Not a fan. 3.5The drink was fire. It came with a dried mango which was soo good. Felt a bit tipsy after one tbh.Ramen was good. I really liked the broth because it wasn't very salty. Wish the egg was a bit more runny but the combination of flavors was on point. I've never had pork pastrami before and it was a unique taste for me. I should have gotten the pork belly instead, but overall good ramen. Would definitely come again & recommend.

Walked in around 7 on a weekday and waited 20 min for a table. Ramen was great, buns were only ok. Didn't realize they would be fried but if that's what you are expecting they are probably really good.
Be the first to ReplyFood was great.
But service was very bad, didn't fill water ever and had to ask 2 times for check. Then, a waiter ran after me and called me out in front of my friend about leaving a low tip. So embarrassing. Will never go back.
Be the first to ReplyService is phenomenal.
Ramen is top notch. Can not go wrong with this place. Broth, noodles. Plenty of options to make to this your favorite bowl of ramen. Plus plenty of appetizer choices from dumplings to crispy rice.
