There is a repeat
I came to Melbourne from Japan to visit my daughter who is studying abroad. While there, we celebrated her birthday at this restaurant. I wondered if I could find Japanese teppanyaki in Melbourne, but I was right to go. Staff who spoke Japanese guided us around, and the chef explained the dishes to us in Japanese. The meat was delicious, so we were very satisfied.

Wonderful food and staff- great atmosphere. We had a great night- highly recommend. Not so much throwing food at you and more food quality and setting.

Amazing authentic Teppanyaki experience. Food was amazing - especially the wagu beef and Moreton bay bugs. Staff very professional, friendly and attentive. Book ahead! Expensive but worth it.

The experience was really nice with cozy ambience with friendly chef Arabi that was making our food.
Be the first to ReplyNice intimate Teppanyaki place with friendly chefs and service.
Nice little intimate, Teppanyaki place near Westin Melbourne. Served by Chef Arabi and Albert who were both super friendly. Good food too!

Fantastic Japenese dinner with family at my favourite restaurant. Set menu only of which you can choose from a few. Price is on the high side but food, drinks and service are exceptional. Never disappoints, shall return.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful to return
Absolutely wonderful that I can now return to my favourite Japanese restaurant. The food was exquisite as always, never been disappointed. Great to be back at the grill with the slicing, cooking by the chief. The scallops, prawns, meat were cooked to perfection. Decided to try the Sticky Date for dessert and was not disappointed. Will keep returning.
Good food, good vibe, great staffs except for the manager
I had my birthday party with about 15 of my girlfriends last night. Everything was fine, good was fantastic except that there was a man not sure if he was a manager or owner, however he was pretty rude to us. I couldn't feel that he welcomed us nor gave us a bit of smiley face. The way he talked to us I had to say it was pretty rude, looked grumpy and had no sign of respect for example when we turned up 7:30pm which we were told that we could and stayed around the bar area, when I arrived and told him that we booked for BD group party he basically just nodded his head to acknowledge then told us "ok ok sign in and sanitise your hand" NO PLEASE WORD!!! WTH! Not just myself that felt unwelcoming from this man, most of my friends felt that too. Also when I saw he talked to other customers he was very polite and very welcome which was totally opposite. I had to say that my group majority were asian background, we all educated here, lived and worked here like local. I didn't want to say that this man had issue with our races but he really treated us differently from other customers. This was such as shame as I was here before as The food was fantastic, the waitresses and chefs were nice and polite. Seriously only this particular man that ruined my night.
Be the first to ReplyLovely food, waitress spoiled our experience
We had 5 people and the deal was that each person had to have a set dinner which we ordered. Waitress said it wouldn't be enough food and insisted on us ordering from the "extras" menu which we didn't want to do. In the end to get our order through we ordered a side dish of salmon. We had more than enough food without the extra. She became very rude and nearly ruined what was otherwise a very pleasant experience.

Staying in the city for a theatre show, we decided on the spur of the moment to try the Japanese Teppanyaki Inn for dinner. The greeting as soon as we walked in was so warm and welcoming. Our chef was friendly, funny and definitely entertaining.
The food was seriously GOOD. The Sake was even better! I'm hoping restrictions ease again soon so we can stay another night in the city for a show and dinner at this wonderful restaurant!
Our Best Meal In Australia Was An Unintentional Private Dinner
By the time our group of five arrived in Melbourne, we had been traveling for three weeks. Our Melbourne hotel was in Chinatown so naturally our dinner plans turned to teppanyaki. Well, not "naturally" but that ended up being the consensus.
From there we went to TripAdvisor to find a highly rated place and one within easy walking distance of our hotel. There were actually several good choices but this restaurant ended up being our pick.
The entrance is a little tricky to find. It is kinda buried in the middle of the block with no large signage. But it is certainly worth finding.
We were there on March 16, 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic was slowly starting to impact Australia. Even so we were not prepared to find that we were the only ones in the restaurant. Bear in mind we had no reservation. We were told the only reservation they had booked had cancelled so we were it...and they were glad to have us.
Needless to say we had excellent service. Our teppanyaki chef was a gal from Japan who had lived in Australia for ten years. Prior to that she had spent some time in Los Angeles learning English. As she prepared our meal we had a great time talking to her about her experiences living around the world.
With the undivided attention of the rest of the staff, our meal was a delight. As usual more food than we should have eaten but we were there for a while. It was a great night even though we felt bad that there was no one else in the restaurant.
Nice atmosphere and service
You should never go to any Teppanyaki without your wallet and this one is no exception. As frequent visitors to highly rated Teppanyaki restaurants in Sydney and the Gold Coast this one rates up there food wise. Once navigating the rather complicated menu choices, we had the Balmain Bug dinner, Sirloin Steak dinner and Chicken dinner. Rice, Miso soup and veg also accompany the meals which we shared and there was plenty of food for 3. The wait staff were very obliging as was the maitre’d. Two items of feedback I have to improve experience for us. Firstly, we are not used to so much butter and oil in Teppanyaki bbq as we look to it as a comparatively healthy eating option. Secondly, if our Teppanyaki chef is not skilled in the art of performing, we are at least used to a friendly smiling one. Unfortunately our chef was neither - almost bordering on rude. I found myself over thanking him to try to cheer him up as he barked out orders to us about where to put our plates etc. This is where I didn’t award the last star but I would go back again when next in Melbourne.
Be the first to ReplyStylish
Virtually hidden in Collins St, just past the Town Hall, this place oozes style, the staff are stylish and the teppanyaki is to die for. We indicated we were going to the theatre so time was of the essence and everything just happened without obvious rush. Our chef was stylish without the comical drama one often sees in other places, presentation was ideal and flavours were fabulous. This is a special place for special occasions but we cannot wait to go again.

Dont miss the single door entrance to this great Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. Lots of dishes to select from and something for everyone. Go on -walk in and try for yourself
Be the first to ReplyGreat night out for special celebrations
This is a family favourite to celebrate the special occasions. The food and preparation is always top notch. It seems expensive but for the amount of food you get and quality it is worthwhile. We always select one of the banquets which seems to suit everyone's taste and food allergies!
