Javier's Los Angeles Reviews from The Last Year
One of my favorite Mexican spots.
Their chips and salsa is homemade and always delicious. My hubby had the steak Tampiqueno which came with his steak medium rare, just the way he likes it, a shrimp enchilada, taquito and beans. I ordered the Fideo Del Mar, which is like a seafood pasta with shrimp, prawn, wild scallop and dungenous crab claws in a tomato cream sauce. It was really delicious, and the seafood was fresh. I actually filled up on the delicious chips and salsa before my entree came. I always come for their chips and salsa because it's just so addicting. I have to say my waiter Oscar R was amazing! He was super attentive and very proactive, especially with my chips and salsa, always bringing me extra before I ran out. He always served with a smile and just made the whole eating experience that much better! I've watched him with other tables as well and I could tell he just likes his job!
Ernesto Montes is an ACTUAL monster of a human.
After dealing with months of depression my best friend convinced me to come out tonight and she brought me to Javier's. We asked to be seated outside because we had dogs with us but the hostess refused and sat us inside. Then, the manager comes up to us and tells us we'll be asked to leave if our dogs continue to make noise. I reminded them that I asked to be seated outside and when I went to the manager, ERNESTO MONTES, he refused to hear my concern and KICKED US OUT OF THE RESTAURANT. I had a full blown panic attack after this. Honestly, it is CRAZY to me that there are such horrible people working in the hospitality industry. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. I've already contacted corporate and my attorneys.

Very impressive decor that resembled their signature Newport Beach location. You wouldn't know that you are sitting right next to Santa Monica Blvd. if not for the occasional loud exotic car speeding by outside. Maybe the same could be said about their Newport location with cars zooming by on PCH also. The food is overall delicious as you can taste the refinement of their quality and preparation. The trio de enchiladas del mar is my recommendation, as adding the lobster enchilada as a third is only $6 more than the shrimp and crab enchiladas. The two enchiladas comes with rice and beans, but the trio doesn't. Well worth the $6 tradeoff IMO. I would not recommend the carnitas plate as the pork was very dry and tasteless. It was very bad. They doubled up on my tortillas because the busboy and the waitress both brought tortillas. The waitress came by half way through the meal to apologize for the duplication and took one set of tortillas away. I said she didn't need to waste it, but she took them anyway. Maybe it costs extra for extra tortillas so she didn't want to break the rules? Pick your margarita of choice, you can't go wrong on those.
Love the ambience here.
The food is always great, and the drinks are fun. You can't go wrong with the Mar Y Tierra (Filet and Lobster). Steak quesadillas are also great!
The food was amazing and the service was great.
Definitely 5 star. Our bill was over $400.00 for a party of 4 without drinks which I have no qualms about. The fact that they DO NOT VALIDATE parking BOTHERS me. I give that 0 stars This is a large upscale lively Mexican restaurant. It is part of the huge complex in Century City. Gelson's validates parking so does the AMC theater and other smaller venues located in this massive complex. I paid over $400 for dinner!! I expect to get my parking ticket validated. They do not have valets parking your car! It is self-parking. I wouldn't mind paying a valet $14.00 to park my car and to retrieve it for me. I would even be fine with a partial validation, but that was not the case here. For a night that should have been memorable, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I will not be recommending Javier's until they provide validated parking.
Service is great! Food is okay, fresh but lacks flavor.
Drinks are good! Overall a bit over priced. Atmosphere is nice as well.

It pains me to leave such a negative review, but it's necessary! I had a LONG hair from the food in my mouth & the manager didn't bother to come talk with us. :( Hubby & I pass by this restaurant every time we come to this Westfield Century City Shopping Center. It looks fancy schmancy and the decor is beautiful! This past Sunday (April 7, 2024) we decided to try it out. We made a reservation via Open Table, checked in and were seated promptly. We were brought some chips & salsa. Our server came and asked if we wanted guacamole to go with our chips. We agreed, but he never informed us it wasn't complimentary. We figured it was going to cost us, but he should have told us. The guacamole is $18. The chips, salsa, & guacamole were delicious! We decided to share the Chile Verde ($38). It comes with rice & beans and tortillas, we chose some flour & corn tortillas. We also got an order of Esquites to go with it. Our food arrived and we were ready to create our tacos! Everything went south from here. I started to cough like crazy. I'm not sure if it was related to what happened next, but I think it probably was. And then, boom!!!! I felt something stringy in my mouth that was from a bite of my taco. I reached in my mouth and found something to grab onto and started pulling it out. It was a LONG HAIR and the meat was attached to it because I was mid-chew!! It was a very light brown almost blondish colored hair. (It wasn't mine because mine is black with some white strands.) Ok, things happen. We called the waiter over and he quickly took it to the manager. I didn't have time to take a picture of it. Our waiter came back and then apologized and asked us if we wanted them to remake another plate of [the same] food. Um, no thank you! We declined. He walked away. Then he came back and told us we didn't have a bill and that our meal was taken care of. [I should have ordered a drink to help ease the dissatisfaction! I'm joking.] We waited in hopes that the manager on duty would come talk with us. He looked our way a couple times, but never came to check on us nor apologize. That is so unprofessional!!! That is not the way to resolve a problem. We were trying to be gracious about it although we were very disappointed! Management should have come over! This is no way to treat your guests! We left, but literally, with a bad taste in our mouths! I felt like I was still choking on a hair for quite some time after the incident. *To the restaurant: I left a review on Open Table & Google.*
The ambience and drinks were fantastic, but the food was
The ambience and drinks were fantastic, but the food was overpriced and mediocre. The shells on my tacos were stale and extremely difficult to bite through. The meat was dry, stringy, and pretty flavorless. For $35 for 2 tacos, I definitely expected the quality to be far better. Not a bad place to take a date out for a drink, but would not recommend coming for the food. Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Value: 2/5

Visit this location for the first time, I have been to the Irvine and Newport location and this one doesn't fall short at all. Service of the bat is next level, attentive, professional, and helpfully. Park in the garage or u can valet. Great for a big party but there is a 20% charge for parties over 6. 20$ minimum. Portions are really good for one person. Or shareable if u have a small appetite. You can order food of the bar if u just wanna pull up for a quick bite
Unfortunate Experience at Javier's Century City
I want to share my horrible experience with trying to make a reservation for my birthday. I have been going to Javier's for years. In fact, I had a birthday dinner there a few years back spending a significant amount of money and leaving a hefty tip. This year, I decided to make a reservation for 12 friends for Saturday evening. I called to make the reservation and was told that for a party over 8, that there would be a $1,200 minimum. Keep in mind, I told them that I had a party of 12 and needed a reservation for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. The manager said that he was going to email a contract for the reservation and that I would have to respond with my Identification and Credit Card. I stated that I live in the area and would prefer not to email my information. I said that I would be there in the next 15 minutes. When I arrived, the manager (Luis Perez) changed the amount from $1200 and said that it would be a $1500 required minimum and that I must have misunderstood the previous manager. I assured him that this was not the case and that I had actually talked to the manager and hostess more than once that day with all of the specifics for the reservation. His response to me was that it would be $1500 and that I didn't have to eat there. I was absolutely shocked and told him that I wanted him to honor the amount that I was quoted and that I did not misunderstand anything the original manager (Ernesto Montes) quoted me. I told him that he actually changed the price within 15 minutes of my arrival. I might also add that I am African American and do feel that this impacted the pricing. I do plan on following up and filing a complaint. Unfortunately, my patronage of Javier's has ended and I will discourage anyone that I know to support another establishment. I will also make a recommendation, to those interested in a restaurant that respects customers and would make a person trying to celebrate their birthday, feel welcomed.

Javier's is the spot if you want delicious Mexican food, never disappoint.. great place for a date night and the margarita is on point.. two thumbs up and the chicken enchiladas are to die for!! Always leave full off food and full off drinks!! The best
Javier Century City is a place of pure elegance.
It's kinda like visiting a beautiful tropical cathedral. There's beautiful foliage everywhere in this open concept restaurant. The food and drinks are expensive and good. The service matches its atmosphere, calm, inviting and pleasant. Every nook of-this restaurant is breathtaking. For seating you have the option of something intimate, family style, or being seated in the bar area. They also have a small banquet area for your enjoyment. I love this restaurant.
Food is perfect for an upscale Mexican Restaurant.
A romantic setting with great service.

This restaurant is upscale and modern and definitely has that A-list bouje vibes. Cmon... it's LA. The food however was not my fav and I feel like I would prefer a mom and pop mexican restaurant. This may have been too elevated or expensive for me this time because it was simple dishes I had before, just way more expensive. Service was ok. Nothing to write home about. It was a nice place just not my cup of tea.
I love that this is conveniently located at the mall.
..sadly prices are on the high side here and portions don't compensate. Great salsa...excellent service...delicious drinks....not cheap when there are other locations that offer happy hour at this time . Great ambiance...I'll give them that!
Food was delicious.
Food was great. I'll be on was perfect. Service was good on the counter of it was packed so the service was pretty cool but everything else bomb.

I have been to very few fine dining Mexican restaurants, and I can't believe after all this time I hadn't been here yet! Every last detail was so good, even the white rice had garlic in it. The fish tacos were meaty, the skirt steak was perfectly marinated and braised, the 3 different beans were excellent. The chicken enchiladas were inexplicably extra delicious, the guacamole, salsa, green sauce, thick fries, you name it. Their house margarita uses a special tequila of theirs I forget the name now, but it's the perfect marg made the right way with lime juice and agave! We had an excellent meal & excellent service. Thank you Javier's!

This was my first time visiting and it was amazing! The food was fresh and delicious My mothers plate was flavorful, healthy and delicious! My enchiladas and taco plate was good. We ordered some guacamole. It was good it just wasn't enough. But overall the food was good and the ambiance was nice.

This place is excellent, from service to the food and drinks are amazing. Everyone is very courteous and always happy to help.
Servers seemed to be rushing us since we got there.
Keep in mind it was still 3 hours to close so it is not like we were there at closing. Maybe 10-15 min after our food came , we were already getting asked if we wanted to go boxes . We were not being rude at all and were a group of women that went to celebrate a birthday. Server was not impressive at all. The server was not rude , but to pay $40 for enchilada plates, I would expect at least more of a positive vibe. Maybe it was the mandatory tip that unmotives them because they feel like maybe they dont have to try. Food was ok. 7.5/10 .
NO RESPECT FROM MANAGEMENT (Poor service)
Spent over $2000 here for a group (PAID CASH). Reserved a private room on 11/18/23, Armida the restaurant manager did not have the decency to call after several emails were sent to her for follow up. DO NOT SPEND CASH HERE, so you can make a LEGITIMATE COMPLAINT to your credit card company if you have to. When someone spends this kind of money it is common courtesy to call any guest who has an issue. We paid for servers and issued a large tip. Our waiter's disappeared for long periods of time. We had to go outside of the private room numerous times for them to take the orders. The manager Arminda was not the most responsive when it came to sending over any of the information requested in order to book the room (the first red flag). Luis another person who identified as a manager was very rude and over the top with his attitude (I mean over the top). The bottom line is Mark Post the owner, needs to be aware of the customer service and the reviews on every posting site. He should let go of any performers who bring down the business. We will make certain not to ever come back here again. PLEASE KNOW, there are many other things to be said about this place, but we don't have the time to write a book. Next step here is to connect with the owner regarding these issues. They are getting a 2 from us because of one-person out of the group made an attempt to be respectful and personable.
Terrible, none existent service
Ambiance is nice and transformative. We sat at the bar and received a serving of chips and salsa rather quickly. Thank you the bar back. Unfortunately good things changed soon after. Salsa is very spicy, even for me. I like spicy salsa, but this one made my nose run. The guacamole is tasteless and overly oniony. We must have waited 15 minutes, at the bar, and tried to get someone's attention to get a pair of drinks. Even the manager was standing at the bar getting a drink for himself and did not notice us sitting and looking at his staff to get one of the bartenders attention. I see where the lack of 5 stars comes from - it is well-deserved. We are one and done!
Beware fellow food goers
Okay I have been to Javier’s a dozen times. Maybe an off day. But we had the worse meal ever. Chips were cold and rotten. The shrimp had bad bacteria tThan I ordered chicken toco’s The chicken was hard and stringy. Not sure if I will return for that money. The food USE to be great. Even the woman at the valet parking told me people were complaining Try at your own risk. Drinks good
Nice Dinner
The setting at Javier’s is quite nice, though the restaurant is quite loud. Service was friendly and quick. The food was good, and so too was my margarita.
Very poor attitude
Shocking .. booked for 7pm arrived at 7pm waited until 720pm told still 3 customer ahead of us … rank poor attitude also very dismissive and a real bad atmosphere …

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
