Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse, Nashville Reviews from The Last Year
Not worth the money
There were 6 of us in our party, celebrating 2 birthdays. The food was good but not worth the money in my opinion. I actually thoroughly enjoyed my wedge salad almost more than my steak. Overall service was extremely slow and not great. Drinks were forgotten, knives were taken away and not replaced in-between courses. For spending $1200 I believe service should be top notch and not just barely mediocre.
Watered down vodka
The steak was great but the pre-dinner drinks were not. Five of the eight of us had martinis and they were watered down. I actually complained and our very nice waitress offered to take mine back and have it redone. The second one was also watered down. Each of the others in my party also felt the same. So stick to beer and wine as they water down the vodka.
We had the most fabulous first visit to Jeff Ruby's this
We had the most fabulous first visit to Jeff Ruby's this past Saturday night. Our party of four was warmly greeted and seated right in line with our reservation. We were quite fortunate sit with Donovan as our server. He was knowledgeable, professional, attentive, and personable. Honestly, service is half of the dining experience for me, it was evident that Donavan understands this and takes his craft well above industry norms. While dining we enjoyed oysters on the half shell, appetizer bacon, multiple steaks, salmon, brussels, mac n cheese, carrot cake, and last but not least peanut butter pie! Each dish was fantastic, our group particularly enjoyed the Bacon, brussels and desserts. I'd also like to mention Donovan's table assistant Connor, he was also very attentive and personable, they made a great team!
Fantastic experience, five star service!

In my march across Nashville steakhouses this one is a gem.
Great steak ( I am speaking fillet) a good appetizer (shrimp cocktail) and the best service I have found so far. Add this one to your list. As with most of these places be prepared to pay a premium cost. However if you have a special occasion or an expense account. You owe it to yourself to dine here.
Overall, great experience but maybe consider self park
Overall, great experience but maybe consider self park instead of valet. I went to Jeff Ruby's for reataraunt week, which was an amazing deal of $55 for a 3 course meal, plus bread! When I first entered the restaurant I had not done much research outside of the restaurant week menu so I was surprised when the inside was very vibey and colorful, unlike a traditional steak house which is often dimly light, a little aged, and very dull colors. This spot has colorful lights and murals, but still looks high end and comfortable. We were seated in the bar area, which featured a piano player - who was wonderful and seemed to have a very fun personality! It was loud, but never too loud I felt like I couldn't hear the person at my table or that I had to yell to talk. The meal started with warm sourdough bread, which had 2 types of butter. One tasted like a standard high end salted butter and the other was a truffle butter which was perfectly earthy and very soft! I really enjoyed both, but the truffle was my favorite. Next this special offered came with a salad, which was well dressed but overall pretty standard - I did like the big pieces of bacon! The second course was a petite fillet with asparagus, potatoes, a sauce, and shrimp. The filet was cooked perfectly to my requested medium, and the waitress even came by to do a temperature check. The shrimp were well seasoned and had a nice texture. The potatoes were great, and so was the asparagus! The last course was the butter pie, which we were told was made in house (like all their desserts). It was fantastic! Great flavor and you could tell it was more freshly prepared instead of frozen, which is great! The pecan topping was a great added texture as well. To drink I did the "It's Britney, Spritz" which 10/10 for the name but also was a fantastic drink! It was vodka based, with bubbles, and featured a house made lavender syrup, it pulled more sweet than floral - which is appreciated by me because too floral taste like a candle or soap to me! The service was great! Many people stopped by to check on us during the meal, clean the table, clear the plates, and refill waters. Everyone was friendly, and seemed to enjoy being there. The only downside to my night was the valet. Where I love and appreciate that complimentary valet, I didn't have the best experience. Handing my car over was simple, and the valet was easy to find. My friend who arrived after me said she saw they parted my car nearby on 4th (valet drop off is on Union). So when I went out I didn't expect it to take long to get my car. However, timing was a little off and we left at the same time as a crowd of people. Luckily most had arrived together. When everyone cleared out I handed over my ticket and the one valet said "I'll go get her car" and the other said "it's right there" I assumed they were talking to each other but then he handed me the keys and said "I'll walk you to your car" which is not standard practice for valet and I didn't really want to walk in heels but I just followed him. The space was really tight so I asked if he could pull it out, and he did - which was nice. However, when he went to get out of the car he put it in reverse instead of park and it the car quickly started rolling backwards. He was able to get fully back in the car and hit the break just before it hit another parked vehicle. I was pretty speechless and a little in shock. I handed over my tip, and finally remembered to breath. He barely apologized for almost crashing my vehicle. An heartfelt apology seemed like a correct response for this type of situation, and I'm disappointed it wasn't offered but I'm also disappointed that valet was offered, but I was asked to walk to my vehicle instead of it being returned to me, which I believe would have put it in a better position to not have the chance to roll into other vehicles. To be noted I have a very standard gearshift. It's from park to drive in a straight line, so I'm not entirely sure how it was put into reverse and I understand accidents happen but more of an apology rather than a "woah I don't know why that happened" would have been appreciated. So, maybe if you chose to visit opt for one of the self park options nearby (I know it sucks most free downtown parking has been eliminated).
Visited with some friends.
They do have a valet, or you can park in a garage close, by for about $35. Great vibe when you walk in. Great seafood and sushi selection. Large drink and wine selection. I got the blackened ribeye steak. Cooked perfectly and lots of seasoning. The sides we got were mashed potatoes, sauted mushrooms, and Brussel sprouts. Absolutely top shelf service and what you would expect from a high end steakhouse.
Jeff Ruby's is a beautiful restaurant with a very defined
Jeff Ruby's is a beautiful restaurant with a very defined sense of style. It has a bit of a mafia movie 1930s era quality to it and it embraces this wholeheartedly. Personally, I like it, though I can see not everyone would. It's outlandish but cool. The food was excellent. This is a great place for a ribeye. Expect to spend some serious money here but it's worth it. I've been to both the Nashville and Cincinnati locations and I'd always be up for a return visit.
Home away from home.
I have been coming to this location for months, I haven't been active on here much so this review is long over due. I won't talk much about food at a high-end restaurant you expected to be awesome and yes everything I've had here has been top-notch. Let's start with when you pull up. The valet, yes that matters. I was greeted by Abe. He has a smile a mile wide and right away I felt like a regular. This was my first visit. The bar. They have bartenders that treat bartending as a craft not a job. Benton was the first who served me the second time I walked in he knew my drink and just how to make it. He also makes the best old fashioned I ever had. Sinclair always has a good story and is always engaged with his customers just like Benton. Ok barback. Who reviews a bar back you ask? Yes me. Jimmy, really cares about his customers and it's obvious he will be moving up the chain They are always in the background. The second time I walked in he told Benton that I was there and what The drink order should be. Benton looked over give me a nod and brought over drinks. Now to the table. Jordan was our server. She has a wonderful personality and is very attentive to her customers I feel like she is serving us food like we are in her home I also have the name the piano player, Jeff. He remembers customers and plays songs for them. On his breaks, he make sure to say hello to people around the bar. And lastly, Max, the general manager. He always makes it a point to talk to his customers and make sure that they are having a great experience. If you made it this far next time I see you I will give you a gold star.
Hands down best place I have had the pleasure of visiting!
Hands down best place I have had the pleasure of visiting! Food was amazing! The dessert jr cigar get it! Don't hesitate! Our waiter Donovan very attentive and a great guy! Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Just go you won't regret it!!!
Everything about this place is great ! We had reservations
Everything about this place is great ! We had reservations and were seated immediately by the friendly hostess. Our server Jacob was extremely knowledgeable and friendly . He was also training a young gal who was also great. They explained the items on the menu, made suggestions and helped guide us from start to finish. My husband's rib eye was cooked perfectly , the wedge salad was amazing , the Brussel sprouts were excellent and the chicken was a very large portion with a delicious sauce. We were so full , we couldn't fit in any desserts. The ambiance is not your typical dark steakhouse . Lots of bright colors, things to look at and a raised piano player. So many employees playing different roles that make this somewhere we will come back to on our next visit . Thank you !
Atmosphere and service were amazing.
I gave it 4 stars because I have had better steaks at this price point. Was at Morton's last week and the ribeye was hands down better. I was not a huge fan of the seasoning they had in the steak. It was a little too much and would prefer to season myself and use the garlic butter I will say the crab soup was amazing as well as the sides our table shared. (Asparagus, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and Mac and cheese). I would totally go back and probably ask for my steak to not be seasoned.
I would highly recommend sitting at the bar at this lovely
I would highly recommend sitting at the bar at this lovely date night spot. With a live performer playing on a baby grand piano seated in the middle of the bar, Jeff Ruby's is an experience. The Mac and Cheese (with bacon) was the best we had on Broadway. From steaks to sushi, there is something for everyone on the menu. The drinks are potently delicious.
Best Birthday Experience
I went to Jeff Ruby's for my birthday and it was my first time. My steak was delicious seasoned and cooked to perfection. Our waiter (Colton, Colby) forgot his name but was outstanding. I have visited several steakhouses around Nashville and Jeff Ruby's is at the top of the list.
Special place for a special night
A perfect place to celebrate your wedding anniversary! Dinner, drinks and service were spot on. The ambiance is magical - like stepping in a high end town. Would not have expected this in Nashville.
Out of Rotation
We dined for my husband’s birthday last night a party of four and have been to Jeff Rubies many times. The service was slow from our main server and we waited ten minutes to get a check. While we were there, the food was good yet this morning three out of four of us are sick. I personally woke up all night extremely nauseous and I’m still nauseous this morning. We spent a total of $800 on four people at dinner. I was expecting much more.
Oh what a Find!
Was in the area visiting another business around dinner time. Stopped in, no reservation and they were able to slide us in. Best wagyu steak I have ever had. Other items were just as good. Impeccable service. Will definitely to again.... but suggest a reservation, it filled up quickly shortly after we got there and that was mid-week
42 year wedding anniversary
Great atmosphere, wait staff, server, food, etc. It was a celebration dinner for my wife and I’s 42nd year anniversary. We were joined by wife’s sister and husband. Everyone had a wonderful time, Bottle of Union Rose Cab and the steaks were completely delicious!
Amazing place
This place is great! The food is delicious. The service is excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We came to celebrate my besties birthday and were not disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful and our table was close to the bar where they had a piano player who was wonderful. My only complaint is that I don’t live in TN and can’t visit this establishment more often.
The way an Old School Steakhouse Should be
What a great evening and the food was phenomenal! Our servers Austin and Bo were exemplary and every aspect of the meal and service was beyond reproach. Cannot more highly recommend. My wife had the Steak Collinsworth and I the Bourbon filet - both medium rare - and they were excellent. Sadly - not enough room for dessert.
Second average experience at a Jeff Ruby’s
I truly don’t know what’s going on - normally these restaurants are spot on!!! Like a Ruth’s Chris or a Capital Grill with excellent, classy, high end food with amazing service - only way cooler! But this is the second time in a row that it’s truly been average. The food quality was average. Our service - sitting at the bar I might add - was horrible. We arrived at 9pm, got our drinks. Appetizer came out at 9:30 which was finished in a flash. At 10:30 we inquired as to why other people who arrived after us were eating and we didn’t have our entrees. They immediately came back and brought lukewarm to cold food. Gross. We had a Gift card so I hate to complain but we won’t go back.

Good Afternoon. It looks like you have requested a name transfer for Carbone NY. Unfortunately, this is one of the restaurants that is almost impossible to do name changes for. They don’t accept phone calls so they are difficult to change the reservations that were booked online.
