Jettie Rae's Oyster House Asheville Reviews from The Last Year
More like 3.5 stars. Underwhelming
Considering all the rave reviews (#2 in Asheville?!) and the prices, this is a pretty underwhelming restaurant. Everything, including the service, was...good. The oysters, actually, were very good. But my friend and I dropped nearly $250 (including tip) on 8 oysters, a starter, two just-fine main courses, and two so-so drinks. (Yeah, in NYC, sure. Asheville? Nah.) Seems tailor-made for the Grove Park Inn set, which it's near, but I've had far better in Asheville and at far less expense. The food and service are more like a 4, but I'm dropping it a star for its pretensions of true excellence.
Fully worth it. Go here stat!
My husband and I were here for the first time tonight for our 28th anniversary. Fantastic experience. Amazing oysters. Super fresh, perfectly shucked, perfectly presented. And our waitress, Jacqueline, went above and beyond to help with my uncommon food allergy (sulfites/preservatives), talking with the Chef multiple times and suggesting safe offerings for me. Part of enjoying a food experience is knowing everyone is able to enjoy it, so it means a lot to my husband if I am able to have a special meal at a restaurant. We had the most wonderful experience at Jettie Rae's. Thank you.
We went last night for dinner, sat at the bar.
Got to watch the very friendly-entertaining bartender. We shared the Kompachi cerveche appetizer. My husband had crab cakes & I had the scallops. Key lime pie for dessert, we each got our own. Wow!! We were pleasantly impressed by everything & the service. 10/10 recommend.
Great oysters, great service, and awesome food!
Had an amazing night with my Boyfriend for my birthday and our anniversary. Ed, our server, made our dinner memorable and surprised me with a dessert I really wanted to try for my birthday - Strawberry and oil shortcake. Loved it and also he just made it so easy to order and very informative! We came from Florida and will visit this restaurant again when we come back to NC. Give a big raise to Ed!!
You like seafood? Yeah, THIS PLACE.
Our server Jacqueline had fantastic recommendations on the oysters and we’re glad we asked. Her timing was perfect and she knew when to check with a warm and welcoming demeanor. We felt at ease. The atmosphere, the service, the seafood, and the drinks were all excellent. Jettie Ray’s has figured it out. We highly recommend!
Excellent meal, friendly & attentive service
We had a great meal while in Asheville for a conference at the GPI. Reservation process was flawless. From checking in to leaving, everything was easy. No rush on a Friday night.
Deliciousness
Heather was a wonderful server. The scallops and shrimp Poboy were delicious. The oysters were amazing. Everything we had was delicious.
Yummy! So delicious!
Oh my gosh! What a wonderful place! We loved everything about our experience! Especially Heather our server! She really made our first time one of the best experiences ever! We got the small seafood tower and it was so fresh and delicious! Every piece was succulent and quite an experience of flavors. I would visit this place over and over!
Great dinner experience
Food was excellent! Drinks great. Service from Ed was the best!! He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was polite and friendly.
A Jettie Raes food club member from Louisiana. I visit Asheville about every two months.
When I come to Asheville Jettie Raes is my go to restaurant. The food is always great and the service exceptional. Jess was our server friend and and as usual excellent taking care of us. The special was a soft shell crab dinner which is good as any in New Orleans. Also got say hello to Jackie another friend and great server as well. Emily Abernathy the general manager greeted me and my friend asking how was our experience. We told her that everything was great and asked us to come back. Last year Jettie Raes had a crayfish boil in April and asked Emily to maybe have one next year. She said she would look into the possibility.
Wonderful dinner at Jettie Rae’s.
We had a wonderful dinner at Jettie Rae’s. Ed was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was excellent! The fish and chips were very good, and the scallops were delicious.
Upscale seafood in a relaxed atmosphere
We came for a nice dinner to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The seafood was fresh and well cooked. Our server, Ed, was fabulous and so friendly and helpful. He made recommendations from the oyster menu that we loved. We live out of state, but will definitely come back when we’re in Asheville.
Delicious food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Tried a few menu options and a couple of mixed drinks it was all very good.
Great food, great service
Our server,Ed, made our visit to Jettie Rae’s so fun. He had great recommendations and was attentive and personable. The food was excellent and the service was stellar.
Very pleasant evening
Food was very good - all around the table. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Volume was a bit much and made it hard to hear.
EXCELLENT SEAFOOD AND GREAT SERVICE
Outstanding seafood and great service- staff was friendly and attentive, outdoor covered patio was well heated on a cool March night- Spanish style Octopus entree and an appetizer of raw clams from Charleston were tasty and filling- we will gladly return to Jettie Rae's on our next visit to Asheville.
Always Great
The staff was friendly, professional and attentive. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server, Heather, made us feel welcome and appreciated.
Great experience
Great food and friendly staff. Jacqueline was our server and she was wonderful! Super helpful, and full of great recommendations. We will be back
Great food, even better service!

Saturday, March 3rd, 2024, My friends and I reserved a table for dinner at the Charlotte Street location. Not only was our food suburb, but our server Ed, was the best server. He's engaging, happy and seems to really enjoy what he does. And, he does it well! We will return to Jettie Rae's and when we do I hope Ed is still around. He made our evening even more delightful. Thank you Ed, Benjamin, George and Rita
Amazing service and very good food
Food was very good, not excellent but very good. I had the ceviche, baked oysters (which was better than the ceviche) and the blackened fish-which was by far the best part. I also ordered a side of grits off the menu which were amazing. The best part of the restaurant was the service. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were amazing. Great attitude and service. Atmosphere was also excellent.
Nashville visits Asheville
This place has delicious oysters and some absolutely yummy bread!! Ed made the experience wonderful with his knowledge, recommendations, and friendly personality!!

WOW! This might be one of my new favorite restaurants in Asheville. Service: Everyone here was so friendly. We had to move our reservation to a different time, and the staff were very accommodating about it. We immediately felt warmly welcomed when we stepped inside. Our server was attentive but let us order at our own pace. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some great suggestions! Food: To start, we had the trout dip and a half dozen oysters. The trout dip was phenomenal and the oysters were fresh and delicious. For our mains, I had the fish and chips and my husband had the gumbo. No complaints here! I also tried their drink special, which was a beet cocktail - very unique and so tasty! Ambiance - we sat in the heated covered patio section, which was super cozy. The inside and bar area looked really trendy too. I definitely want to come back in the summer time and sit outside! Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Jettie Rae's, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
I'm from Louisiana.
Lived in NOLA, grew up in Cajun Country. So good to have some REAL fresh Southern seafood at last
The food here is good.
I had crabcakes, which were small but good, The food here is good. my friend had bouillabaisse which is good if you like fennel. We had a mussels appetizer and drank water. The bill was over $120 which seems very high for food that was good but not great
We were fortunate to get in to Jettie Rae's for the second
We were fortunate to get in to Jettie Rae's for the second time in a month, over the holidays, having been there over the Thanksgiving holiday. It is a special place that remembers you after one month, and we were greeted very pleasantly. Our reservation was for the outer room, but there was space at the bar and we took that. What a great time we had! It was wonderful interacting with the kitchen staff (mainly visually) and with the bar staff, and this really added to our experience. Service was excellent throughout. I enjoyed an appetizer of several different oysters, which were outstanding. Jettie Rae's commands the best quality oysters, and these were again the best of our entire week of eating out. My entree of Outer Banks scallops was excellent, as was my wife's Crab Rice. We knew from our previous experience that the Key Lime pie was to die for, so we shared that again. They have an expansive wine list, but sadly they do not have a good selection of local draft beers. For the price, it's difficult to get a better meal anywhere. We will return to Jettie Rae's whenever we are within a few hundred miles.
I'm am almost 60 years old and I just had the BEST burger
I'm am almost 60 years old and I just had the BEST burger in my life. 7 for dinner. We ordered everything on the menu plus some. From the burger to the seafood tower.... They were spot on! Warning, Thai could be a long review. The burger was like a double cheese mad burger with absolutely NO grease!!! AND.... It was cooked perfectly ( medium rare) AND came out H. O. T. HOT and stayed warm to the last nite. The flavor profile was melt in your mouth goodness. The Fries. AGAIN. they were pure heaven. They take 3 days prepping their hand cut fries My sister and niece had the po boys. They ship the bread in from New Orleans. I am a seafood SNOB. Grew up on the beach and the river of Nee Smyrna Beach. I refuse to eat shrimp from a restaurant because they are always minimally flash frozen and I can taste that chemical a mile away. Can I just say the shrimp was a delightful surprise!!!! The oysters were fresh, clean, cold and they had your briny or milky profile of oysters. I naturally ate the briny oysters and they were SO good My mezcal old fashion was a special treat. The homemade deserts exceeded our expectations. I live in florida and already planning a quick trip back for a few days just to have another meal there again soon.

The experience was the best! From the friendly staff, the decor, the pace, and total ambiance. Our server Ira was a total expert on the offerings and connected with each of us. The menu is concise, and mixed classic Southern dishes with a bit of New England for variety. Each item was carefully presented, gorgeous to look at and magic to taste. Oysters were clean shells, super fresh scent and delivered by the chef, each variety labelled and curated by him. My Gullah crab and rice was pure memory of the islands. The Boston clam strips were also perfect. Cocktails and beers crafted and presented as little works of art. Yeah, I'll be back!

When you Google the best oysters in Asheville, this is the place that comes up first...and there is a very good reason why! Heather, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. As we considered which oysters we were going to begin with, and what entrees we were looking at, she was quick to let us know that there not a lot of servings of there tuna belly special left. We would have been disappointed if she'd not given us that heads up. We started with a dozen oysters of four different varieties. They were EXCEPTIONAL! We followed up with the scallop dinner and the tuna belly special. Both entrees were delicious. They were not large portions, but absolutely wonderful! We sat at a table (versus the bar or out on the patio) and it was delightful. The vibe was quiet, comfortably lit, and a modern, seaside feel. We chose more oysters for "dessert" in lieu of something sweet-the oysters were simply THAT GOOD! Overall, nothing short of a wonderful ex

5 Star Seafood and Service As always, the food was delicious and the wine was perfect. The conversation was so enjoyable we stayed for dessert and that was over the top, each more decadent than the last. But what truly made this dinner experience exceptional was our attentive and personable server, HEATHER. From opening the wine to tempting us to try the baked/grilled oysters and treating us to a dessert so we could sample ALL that was offered, it was a dinner to remember! As recent locals we always go to Jettie Rae's when seafood is what we're craving. From now on, we'll be asking for Heather to be sure every aspect of the evening is five star!

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
