Jin Ramen Upper West Side New York Reviews from The Last Year
Solid ramen in UWS.
When I came a few years ago and had their seafood ramen, it was the best thing I ever had. Now a few years later, I can confirm that the ramen was not as good as in my memory but it was still delicious nonetheless. I was able to get a table very quickly for 6 on a weekend dinner which I was very happy about. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu and I thought it was delicious. I absolutely loved the broth as it was rich and the thin noodles clung to every part of it. I also loved the soft-boiled egg as the yolk was umami and the whites were beautifully done and flavored as well. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chasu as it was a little dense and chewy. Overall, not a bad place for ramen at all in UWS. I would say that I probably got one of the better dishes of the night however, as I tried the broth of some of my other friend's ramen and it was not as good.
Went here for date night, we had a great time.
Staff was super friendly and attentive and we were looking forward to trying out this place. Chilled tofu app was great, but the dish itself is great in its simplicity so it's hard to mess up. We had both versions of their volcano varieties (shio and tonkotsu). I was not as hungry so I opted for the shio which I've only had shio ramen a handful of times before. It was delicious. Yuzu chicken paitan like broth but super savory and flavorful. Bo had the volcano tonkotsu, really rich and porky and delicious. We both had a side of more volcano paste, and honestly the amount of food was perfect. Portions were generous but this place is definitely a little pricey for it to be a multi day a week spot. Would definitely return again!
great ramen spot! my favorite in the neighborhood.
prompt service, tons of options on the menu, and an authentic experience. i love the miso ramen! also really cute inside, very cozy.

I love this spot, it's an iconic ramen joint on the upper west. The menu is giant so there's a million ramen options to choose from. Our service was super fast and the ramen was delicious!

The John Kouka team compromised for Good--- Members of our team ordered the vegetarian ramen with Shoyu, tofu buns, and mochi for dessert. The ramen was delicious! the tofu buns were mid- they contained a spicy ketchup sauce that made them less desirable, and the mochi was good only because it was mochi, which is a wonderful invention. It was frozen solid and the dough around it extremely thin. Pathetic really. BUT the real show was not the food! The person next to us was showing her friend (and us!!) a zillion photos on her iPhone 15 Pro! How does she meet so many friends? and dogs? and Taylor Swift? This made our eating experience so much more fun, even though we were also jealous before we decided that she must be a dog-walker. The joint was already vibey and cozy (slay!!!!!!) Disclaimer: The woman next to us should not be associated, linked, or connected to anything such as facial recognition through this review. This woman might also not have met Taylor Swift and just has a picture of her because she is so fire (let's go girl). The idea of her liking Taylor Swift should not be used for any legal search uses because: 1) Because of this disclaimer 2) Everyone loves Taylor Swift so it wouldn't help much anyway.
I have been to Jin Ramen a couple times, both at this
I have been to Jin Ramen a couple times, both at this location and the one near Columbia University. They have a pretty extensive ramen menu with some innovative flavors. I have tried the kuro tonkatsu which I thought was ok. This time, I tried the volcano tonkotsu and I thought the spice level was weak considering the name. My friend ordered the spicy tonkotsu and it looked and tasted pretty much the same, except the volcano had a small clump of chili that had to be mixed in before eating for an extra $2. I was also pretty underwhelmed with the broth as it lacked the complexity and umami flavor. Service was fine although we felt pretty rushed to leave even though the restaurant wasn't full.
Wife and I had lunch here.
I have had a lot of ramen from different countries. You will not find ramen noodles that are as tasty and perfectly textured as Jin Ramen. It absolutely deserves the Michelin star. Service was great too. I had the spicy tonkotsu ramen and my wife had the sukiyaki dry ramen. Both were fantastic. Perfect flavor, spice and temperature for my dish. A ton of flavor through a fresh mix of tofu, mushrooms and brisket in my wife's dish. We were so impressed we even purchased a T shirt! We will definitely be back on our next trip!
We went for lunch and had a wonderful time.
The place is relaxing and the service was perfect. I had the katsu ramen with extra pork and noodles and it was scrumptious. One companion had an eggplant soba dish that he couldn't stop talking about while our other companion had a vegetable broth based curry. She was delighted as well. While the prices are a very fair, we were pleasantly surprised that some of our choices were a few dollars off at lunch. Definitely a win for us.
Not a great bowl of ramen unfortunately.
Original location may be better, but this location is not worth it. Broth was just okay and the side items in my bowl were undercooked. Pork buns were good.
The volcano ramen is a must!!! I love spicy food but didn't
The volcano ramen is a must!!! I love spicy food but didn't expect this to be as spicy as it was but it definitely was! I loved it. I also got the bao buns and the dumplings. The pork on the buns was delicious and it came with a tasty sauce. The dumplings had a great crisp and were also delicious. Def try if you're in the area!
