Service was a 10/10.
Food was delicious. Must try! Closes your going to get to authentic Thai food.
Be the first to ReplyKalaya was one of the best meals I've had in Philly.
Up until this dinner my knowledge of Thai food was limited to pad Thai and drunken noodles. After eating at Kalaya Thai food takes on a whole new meaning! The main word to describe the food was FLAVORFUL. All of the seafood and veggies were SO fresh and all of the dishes were so well executed. I can't recommend Kalaya enough if you're looking for authentic and delicious Thai food. The waitress was great at explaining all of the dishes and even the owner came out to help us pick out some dishes! We had a ton of left overs and everything reheated perfectly. The immediate next thing you should do after reading this is go and book a reservation!!
Be the first to ReplyNot typical Thai food.
Delicious but some dishes are way to hot. Prices seem to have increased substantially in the last 6 months. That said, food is not to be missed.
Be the first to ReplyBest Thai food I've ever had! The service was great too.
Everything is pretty spicy, so talk to your server before ordering if you're not big on spice. It's also BYOB, but you can buy a bottle of wine from the bar next door in case you don't come prepared!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing! Full steam ahead on your way to this gem.
Food is some of the best in the city. Everyone is super nice and helpful in explaining the menu because it may seem overwhelming. Not pictured is the crab curry dish but it's one of my favorite things i've ever eaten!
Be the first to ReplyFood was good, but the place looked messy.
Everything was very pricey. I would expect a better ambiance when you charge so much
Be the first to ReplyI had very high hope for this restaurant but can't say
I had very high hope for this restaurant but can't say wasn't disappointed. For appetizers, we ordered sakoo hed (mushroom and peanut dumpling) and Shaw muang (flower shaped chicken dumpling). They are both very beatific to look at (expected for the price), but I find the sweetness in the stuffing a bit odd..For main dish, we ordered Goong on woonsen, which suppose to be a soupy hot pot dish, but we end up not getting any soup in the pot.The server also strongly recommended to order a veggie dish, so we ordered Pad ma Kua yao, which is stir fry eggplant, that left up with way too much food, and the dish is really oily and blend...Do the final verdict is, there are probably some good dish on the menu, but we didn't get anything too impressive, and it cost us about a hundred for those food.

Kalaya is an authentic Thai eatery featuring some stellar dishes. For an appetizer we ordered the shaw muang, flower-shaped dumplings with ground chicken filling, cucumber and red chili, which were as juicy and delicious as they were beautiful. For mains we went for chu chee hoi shell, a scallop curry, the pu pad pong karee, a crab stir fry, and the pad thai chaiya. The food was great, generously portioned and and spicy enough to leave me sweating.

... You have to try Kalaya. Their food is really really really good. Christina was our waitress. She was really good. Because it was our first time dining there. She explained to us about the food, which one spicy, which one good for 2 people. I love the authenticity, the hospitality, the food , the waitress. The owner did came to our table and asked how was the food . Nice lady. Overall, it was awesome experience. We ordered crab fried rice , the scallop, Thai teas. We were so full . I love it period
Be the first to ReplyEverything was very delicious.
Service was great! They were not kidding about the spice level though, I would stick to non spicy (mild) if you cannot handle heat. I just wished the crab dish had actually crab claws and other parts (while crab) instead of just chunks.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a spice lovers dream! It was the most memorable
This is a spice lovers dream! It was the most memorable Thai we've had in the city. The dumplings are unique and are a must. We LOVED the beef stir fry!! The vegetable sides were a nice accompaniment to the rich and complex curries. The service was fast, and maybe too fast honestly, we felt a little rushed...take the spice level seriously, my girlfriend (who doesn't like spice) became a little overwhelmed by the end of the meal despite us getting relatively mild dishes. Can recommend and will probably return here!
