Katsuei Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent sushi.
This is where I bring non sushi people to appreciate and love sushi for their first time. No soy sauce dipping here. You will eat it the way it is prepared by the chefs and since the fish is so exquisite, you don't need to add soy sauce or anything else. The service is respectful and attentive. The ambiance is a bit cold and really not something to even care about since the fish becomes the main attraction. 5pm on a Thursday evening felt like it was babysitting hour at the sushi joint. Park slope parents living in their bubble allowing their kids to be loud and obnoxious while others are dining around them. I can't blame the restaurant but parents need to take responsibility. No homework, coloring books, or crayons should be on a sushi restaurants table. Besides that... everything was excellent!! And thank you for not participating in the 4% credit card fee scam. Many customers appreciate that!!

Used the website to make a reservation and they emailed me pretty quickly. Got the omakase. $120 for 12 pieces. It tasted good but it wasn't anything amazing. Not amazing but not bad.

Always delicious and so fresh with unique assortment of sushi. And they always have my favorite kind of fish. I don't think the Manhattan branch accepts Apple Pay though.

We haven't visited the place in a while and decided to do a double date night. The food was just average but service was attentive. We didn't try the omakase instead ordered the sushi and sashimi deluxe along with some hand rolls. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
Cute spot buthr service was just eh.
.nothing special. The server was in training funny it was two of us mid afternoon and they asked if we had a reservation , with 1 family in-house. I had to laugh, the sushi was just ok. A lil too old school for me I prob WONT be back.

After spending the day together in Park Slope, my mom and I were hungry, but didn't have a specific place in mind for dinner. I did a quick search and settled on Sushi Katsuei, which had a decent rating and was close by. Upon entering the establishment, I asked the hostess for a table for 2. She asked if we had reservations, I told her we did not. She picked up a menu and insisted that we look at it. I responded saying that we didn't need to look at the menu before being seated. She continued insisting and added "I am not sure if we serve what you are looking for. We serve sushi here, we don't have things like fried rice." It took me a minute to realize what she was actually saying. Essentially, since my mom and I are Black, she couldn't fathom that we would knowingly choose a Japanese restaurant that served Omakase, sushi and sashimi. She ignorantly thought we would step into a Japanese restaurant wanting Asian food like fried rice. Long story short, do not eat here if you are Black or consider yourself an ally.

We ordered the sashimi deluxe and it was appalling - thoughtless leftover slices that is flavorless and bland. They did not even try to put together an interesting platter. The shrimp tempura is a B at best. They have one star as I liked the oysters. Will not be back again.

This is a destination sushi restaurant, the pieces are so fresh and of high quality. We had the "deluxe" sushi and sashimi and found them excellent, though our server said the omokase was even better (we'll try next visit).

Best sushi in Brooklyn and it stands up against some of the top sushi spots in the 5 boroughs. It's that simple.
Some of the better sushi I have had in my life.
The experience of eating here was great - the waiters were very attentive, they explained the dishes they brought out, they made sake recommendations. They went out of their way to make you feel like you were having a fine dining experience. And the quality of the fish and the rolls was fine dining level! The restaurant is rather small, and actually doesn't look that fancy in terms of the vibe. It is a more casual atmosphere to get a top notch meal. I will say - it is VERY expensive. Whenever a menu has items on it where the price is variable...or the price isn't listed...that's how you know you better brace your wallet. I tried to order basically the cheapest thing on the menu and still came away with a pretty hefty bill.

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

Give the best answerNewbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

Give the best answerConcierge change fulfillment time
I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

Give the best answerApp
This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
