The view was spectacular, and the ambiance was great.
Food wasn't the best. Much of it was bland, and the sushi rice and nori were not great quality. But the service was the worst. For spending over $400 on primarily sashimi and tartare for 2 people, we waited 20 minutes before anyone came to take our food order, another 30 minutes for the first 3 entrees, which we finished in less than 10 minutes bc they were small bites. Then we had to wait another 25 for the rest of our food. No apologies, no explanation; just slow and inattentive. I did expect much more for a supposedly fine dining experience. I wouldn't go back, but I might try my luck with Monarch

Very expensive so I didn't leave feeling full but everything we had was delectable:) Also the setting is one of a kind. Great views and it kinda feels like a speakeasy.

We made a reservation at 9:15 and didn't get seated until 9:50ish. It was a Saturday night and the food did take some time to get to us, which is understandable. Everything we ordered was delicious, even the edamame!
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food and ambiance.
I def recommend. The service was also excellent. A very sexy hidden sushi restaurant with beautiful views

Ouch - it pains me to write this because I was SO excited to surprise my bf with craft drinks & a fantastic view of Dallas. It just wasn't what we expected. Made a reservation for Friday @ 9PM, put my credit card on the line for $25/pp -- NBD. Arrived just before the rez and took a seat at the bar to wait for our table. Most of the seating is large booths down the middle of the room, and there are only about 6 or 7 two-top tables along the window (with the clearest views). *There is an observation deck that you can visit/walk around, but no official seating in that section* Anyway, the server came to seat us in the booth/middle section and we just weren't feeling it -- too loud, too crowded, too far from the windows -- so we stayed at the bar and proceeded to have some drinks. The bartender was attentive & friendly. We could KINDA see the views but were craning our necks to do so... and it felt awkward to be staring at other diners who were seated at the window. Without the views, I didn't really understand why we were sitting at a dark & busy bar paying $22 for each cocktail. We proceeded to watch multiple groups of two arrive after us and elect to wait for the two-top tables along the window, which was an option not conveyed by the hostess or bartender. If we had known that were possible, we would've held off and waited because many of those tables turned during the 9PM-10PM hour. I assumed (incorrectly) that the restaurant wouldn't accommodate these requests, as literally everyone walking in wants to sit at the windows. But apparently you CAN tell the server you'll hold off for the two-top with the better view. Overall... The cocktails are decent, though sweet; The atmosphere is loungey but a little loud & quite chaotic; The views are fun, though infinitely better if you're seated AT the window; The hostesses and bartenders are friendly and helpful, but be sure to ask for what you want/need; Didn't try the food... it looked good but the portions are probably a bit small for my taste. Probably won't be back, but I would like to try Monarch downstairs.

We indulged in the chef's tasting menu expertly paired with sake, and to my delight, the standout was the king crab and soba noodles. Despite initial concerns about leaving hungry from a sushi tasting, the experience left my stomach thoroughly satisfied. The Fromage Noir drink was a surprising highlight; while its description may seem unusual, its goat cheese finish was unexpectedly delightful. Despite our table being two courses behind, due to our own tardiness the chef, servers, and sommelier seamlessly ensured we caught up. And can we talk about the vibe of the place? Those dusty rose velvet couches and vintage lamps with dangling beads totally had me mesmerized. It was like stepping into a cozy, bygone era.

Having been here a few times within the past year, I am very impressed with Kessaku. My first visit was following an awesome dinner at Monarch (one floor below); a friend and I stepped up here for post dinner cocktails. Considering it is a lounge, the vibe was energetic without being club-like and the amazing cocktails only added to that vibe. Add to that, are the amazing cityscape views. While there is window seating available, do not fret if those seats are taken as there is a space that wraps around the building which provide excellent views of the downtown and the surrounding areas. On this visit, we noticed they also have a nice selection of sushi and sashmi to accompany the various cocktails but since we had just dined, we skipped that part on this visit. Since my initial visit, I have returned for some of the Saturday afternoon events hosted at Kessaku which have been lots of fun. In addition to the fun times, these events have included an array of cocktails along with small bites; some directly from the Kessaku menu and others customized for the event. The food for the events (usually 3-4 courses) is always fresh and flavorful. The cocktails are tasty and always compliment the entrรฉe. I highly recommend checking out their events! The staff has been phenomenal on all my visits. The servers do an excellent job of clearing plates, refilling water glasses, etc. and they do by being just visible enough. As for the bartenders, they do an awesome job creating some tasty beverages and do it while keeping wait times down. Kudos to them!! Kessaku is located downtown on the 50th floor of The National which also houses Monarch. Parking options included street parking, nearby garages along with valet which is shared with the other businesses in the building (Thompson Hotel, Monarch, etc) I really like Kessaku and look forward to future visits.
Be the first to ReplyFood was incredible.
Sashimi and Nigiri, spicy tuna roll, flourless cake dessert, very very good. Sunset view was amazing.
Be the first to ReplyFor the price, it's overrated.
Had the Tower for $250 - good but nothing that's memorable - there are just as good or better Japanese in Dallas for less. Ambiance could be better as well; it's a bit too dark and the music is a bit too loud. Staff was good but not great. Would have given 4 stars but it's too pricey. I was expecting more.

gemz **** WHAT THEY'RE KNOWN FOR: located on the 50th floor of The National, this place is known for their views. It's marketed as a "pre-dinner/drinks" place but tbh I was very full and satisfied from the meal. THE VIBE: sexy, dark, intimate views! It was pretty slow at Friday dinner but I've been here Saturday after 10pm and they were busy so maybe it's more of a night cap spot. PRICE: $130 + $35 tip WOULD I COME BACK? Yes! **** Overall Rating: 11/10 - I went here for a pre-birthday dinner with my boyfriend and the service to accommodate my birthday was impeccable. The waitress was so sweet and she even gave us free tequila shots . - The whole experience is amazing, after you order drinks and food, they suggest you take a walk around their 360 skyline which is basically like a 2 minute stroll where you can see the whole city from the 50th floor and enjoy the view while you wait for your food. This is where I took those cute photos at the end. - Onto the drinks, THE DRINKS ARE SO STRONG. Even before the tequila shots, I was pretty tipsy from those drinks. The drinks are worth every penny. I really recommend the two drinks we ordered they were fruity and light. - THE FOOD! Omg the king crab roll was SO good. It comes with a side of melted truffle butter you drizzle on top or can dip into (I recommend the drizzle) and WOW it's so rich and filling. I love how the rolls were bite sized. - I love a good sushi roll with steak/beef. The surf & turf roll had its own unique flavor. Instead of steak, it had their beef tartare on top. It was my first time having completely raw beef so it did offset me a little but tbh it was so good I got over it quickly. - The torched nigiri was chefs kiss. It was packed with flavor and I love how they had fresh wasabi on top. - I'm officially obsessed with @kessaku and I can't recommend it enough for a classy night out.

First time at Kessaku and had one of the most amazing experiences. Arriss/our server was most attentive, naturally!!!! She knew her stuff and we bought in 'Hook Line and Sinker. She really made this late night dinner one of our most memorable experiences.

...Took myself on a date to Monarch to celebrate the end of my work trip and was casually directed to head a floor up to this amazing speakeasy-ish establishment for a full view of the city, amazing drinks, and better company. They lied!Because literally everything is above and beyond here, including the bartenders, and most definitely the ambience.I was still full from the lobster pasta at Monarch, so I only had libations. Started with chilled sake, and ended with the One Punch Man. In between we had a couple shots of chilled Hennessy to keep it spicy .This bar has outlets to charge your device. Service: 5/5Prices: $$$$Ambiance: 10/5Taste/Textures: 5/5Value: 5/5Bottom Line :This is a beautiful spot for a date night, a girls' night, even for a solo traveler, like myself ( it's super easy to meet new people here). Drinks are expensive, but worth every penny. Looking around with the sexy ambience and perfect curation of music along with the view of the city is mind blowing. This place is truly a must see for yourself! I can't spoil the rest of it for you...

This was amazing start to finish! The champagne for the elevator ride, the greetings as we arrived, the very attentive waitress making excellent suggestions ...just all phenomenal. To be fair, I wasn't paying though. A corporate dinner out with a client, they shot the works. Even so, judging purely on service, ambiance and most of all taste, I can honestly say this rivaled my favorite restaurant ever: Nobu. We had such a strong reaction to the wagyu beef and the crab topped nigiri, we ordered more rounds. Cocktails were amazing as well. Then, the talk of shots led us to our favorite surprise of the night: the Shot-a-pus! What a presentation!! Just such a great night. Pricey, from what I gather, but what an experience!!!

We were staying at the Thompson so we made reservations for dinner. First always make reservations . It's such a small space and seems to fill up quickly. The food was delicious. We did the king crab roll, spicy salmon roll , and some type of jalapeรฑo roll. My only dislike was the stranger sitting next to me with a cough. It's shared tables but doesn't seem like a good idea for dinner in such a small space . I wouldLike to try it again but I'll definitely ask for a private table .
Be the first to ReplyWent there for my birthday.
We made a detailed reservation in advance for 8:30 on a Thursday. When we got there they made us wait almost an hour to be seated. I had to bug the hostess several times; who knows how long it would have been to get a table otherwise? Food was very pricey and the only dish I thought was worth it was the tuna tartare. The king crab nigiri was ok. Had fancy ingredients but tasted much like any other crab nigiri. Our third dish did not arrive on time. It took 45 minutes to come out and only AFTER we asked to cancel and pay. We had ordered the Hamachi with jalapeรฑo and it was disappointing. Presentation was EXTREMELY sloppy, rice to fish ratio was off, and rice had far too much vinegar. For context, our local revolving sushi place does a better job with this type of roll and charge us $4 for it. Not worth $21. Waitress was rude, no one remembered our occasion, and then to top it all off, the bill came with a mystery $19 added charge, which I believe is automatic gratuity for a party of 2.View is nice but the experience was maddening. This is not the high end place they pretend to be. We went for tacos after this at a local Mexican shop and that food was far better at $3.50 a taco. And they gave me a free churro. My take: go elsewhere.

Really cute sushi bar that top of the Monarch building in Downtown Dallas. There's also a connecting observation deck to walk around get an even better view. There's always a fun vibe, great playlist and delicious drinks. The sushi menu is petite but solid. Good for dates, solo drink and groups.

The food, drinks, and view were well worth the visit. I did not like that the restaurant only had one unisex bathroom. Having to use the bathroom after a male who urinated all over the toilet was disgusting.

Bam and Ashley at Kessaku are awesome!! We always have a great experience here and love the atmosphere. A few upgrades I would suggest is adding edamame to the menu and more dessert options. Each time I come here, I have to go elsewhere for after dinner, because there is only 1 current dessert option with matcha (which I have tried and do NOT enjoy).

Kessaku, and its employees live up to the care that is a principle of Japanese hospitality! Each visit to Kessaku has been preceded by a wholehearted invitation from a staff member, like our wonderful bartender, Matt, Thank You! They all, have always been excited to share, The Masterpiece, which in Japanese translates to, Kessaku. Although designed in the style of a lounge, the floor to ceiling windows, with fabulous views of Dallas, eliminates the feeling of being closed in. The cocktails are served with class, and elegance, and these Japanese whiskey guys feel right at home. They feature a Sushi menu, so assure all in your party, enjoy delicious Sushi, like you! Seating is limited; I would suggest making a reservation, to enjoy the full experience. See you by the windows! Xoxo Lorenzo.

.. look no further! Kessaku was featured in Dallas love list so my hubby and I decided to check it out! This is definitely a "fine dining" experience with a price tag to match. Supposedly the head chef is a Michelin chef or worked at a restaurant that had a Michelin star. The quality of the food is amazing and the lobster roll was to die for! Probably one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had and I've eaten my fair share of rolls in my lifetime. The restaurant is small, so my pro tip: make a reservation online in advance. The setting is intimate and very "date night" feel. It also gives speakeasy vibes due to the location of the restaurant. You have to take the elevator and then go up a flight of stairs. Very unique! However, if you're a baller on a budget like myself, this is one of those one and done type of places for me.
