We were thrilled to choose Kin Khao, our first Michelin-starred meal to celebrate our engagement! It was packed although we had a late 8:45 PM reservation, and we loved that it was a super casual ambiance. Now, the food:- Mushroom Hor Mok: The Curry Mousse was delicious, and paired well with the rice cakes. However, I felt the rice cakes could have had some room for improvement, as they shattered into pieces after the first bite and weren't very practical.- Khao Kan Jin: This was one of my favorite dishes of the night, which is no surprise given my fondness of blood sausage. So complex, well-balanced, and unique. We could have had a second plate of this, easily!- Plah Pla Muek: Another favorite of the night! The squid was cooked to perfection, and I loved the acidic lime sauce that kept everything oh-so-light and refreshing.- Laab Kua: The waiter warned us that this was 9/10 *Thai Spicy*, but we chose it anyways. I have an absurdly high spice tolerance (hi, I'm Korean), but this KICKED MY BUTT! It was mind-numbingly spicy, although the flavor was good. Personally though, it wasn't my favorite as I found I'm not a huge fan of the wild boar flavor, and thought the dish was a tad dry overall.I think your experience here will wildly vary depending on the dishes you order. For us, it was a unique and very memorable meal because we ordered dishes we haven't seen at other places (except the laab). However, I can see how someone would not quite understand the Michelin distinction if they only ordered things they've seen/tasted before such as khao soi or papaya salad.
