The Place was very lively and Tropical feeling.
I loved it! The food was very tasty and Fernanda at the bar was amazing with the Mango and Tropical Punch.*

Love the oxtail flatbread & braised oxtail entree Cocktails are good. Service needs a lot of improvement!!! As someone that work in the service industry in the city, I would not return because the service overall was not welcoming! My bf & I sat & waited at the bar for our friends for a reservation with no acknowledgement from the bartenders for at least 10 mins so we just decided to walk around the block instead . Also as an establishment that charges service gratitude for 2 or more people overall put in some effort into the service to make an individual experience worth it. .

She informative and fun; absolutely helped set the tone for the evening. 10/10 going to come back!
Be the first to ReplyThis place is an immediate hands down zero.
My girlfriend and her close friend went out for drinks and received horrible service. When my girlfriend walks into the establishment, lay down the red carpet for her next time. I expect the same treatment for the rest of her party as well !! Love yall bye
Be the first to ReplyThis restaurant seems more concerned with vibes than food.
They had a DJ and photographer there for Saturday brunch, and the space is clearly designed to be instagrammable. I had the tropical G&T, and the fish sandwich with truffle fries, totally unremarkable. No complaints about the service, although it took a while to get the check.

Kokomos been on my radar for a while now and we finally were able to go while in town and it didn't disappoint. We went for a Saturday brunch. The crowd was mild and luckily we were able to get in without a reservation. Our service was prompt, friendly and he was knowledgeable about his menu. The only different thing about this experience was a photography girl comes around and asks to take a bunch of pictures and then later comes out with many already framed for sale. Although the pictures were nice and we bought one I don't really like the solicitation during my meal hour. Now to the food. I unfortunately was enjoying myself and forgot to take all my visuals with the exception of Kokos Chicken and waffles. They were pretty memorable. The pancake was moist, just the right sweetness and edges were crispy, the chicken was seasoned well. The other item we got was the Yardee Shrimp Flatbread. It was my least favorite. I just felt that it lacked flavor. Overall we enjoyed our experience. It took me a minute to decide what I wanted since there's a lot of delicious sounding items on the menu. This warrants a return back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat vibes, and don't underestimate their flatbreads.
Since their block party last year, I've been wanting to go to Kokomo for a while. They are very strict on making your reservation (they have a 15 minute grace period) so be on time. Their mimosas are okay, and their food is quite unique which I didn't expect; I eat Caribbean brunch often and Kokomo's flavors still set it apart from other places making each dish pretty special. I especially enjoyed their oxtail flatbread + plantain pancakes we got for the table to share. I ordered the pikliz fish sandwich and experienced the best fries I've had in a long time. The next visit, I would stop by for happy hour - the seating downstairs has a different more quiet vibe, and upstairs is more loud, and party-like.
Be the first to ReplyFirst time coming to this restaurant and was not amused.
Staff is not the friendliest and customer service skills seemed forced. Food doesn't taste like authentic Caribbean food at all. The wait for the food was 2 hours long! The waiter also took 45 minutes to even take our order. The food then arrived room temperature. I wanted to enjoy my experience but this place is not only overhyped but overpriced! I would not recommend!
Be the first to ReplyThe atmosphere was nice and food was consistently delicious.
I had the plantain stuffed with callaloo for a starter and Koko's Island Pasta. I also tried some of the Yardie Shrimp Flatbread, which was delicious. The only hiccup was with the hosting service. Despite not having a reservation, I was informed that outdoor seating was the only option available. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't conducive to outdoor dining, and surprisingly, there was no mention of the available seating at the bar, where four open seats awaited. I had to inquire about sitting at the bar myself, rather than it being offered as an alternative. Additionally, the food is served from multiple stations, potentially resulting in staggered meal deliveries. Consequently, there was a notable wait for my meal, during which my companion had already finished eating. Nonetheless, the bartender kindly offered complimentary shots to compensate for the delay. Despite these minor inconveniences, it was an overall pleasant experience, and I would certainly return for another visit.

Arrived here around 6:30 on a Saturday night and was immediately offered a table without reservations. I choose to shit in the swing which was an Amazing experience. Swing eat, swing chat, swing pic lol. I started with the stuffed plantains which was amazing, then did the fish which was enough for two. The waiter is nice and attentive.

I arrived 15 minutes after the grace period so ended up at the bar. I also went from a party of two to a party of 1. I chose the bar over outside. The vibe is definitely very fun and cool with an island vibe. Music was a nice mixtape. Sit at bar, order a beverage and proceed to look at the brunch menu. Go to place my order and the bartender tells me oh it's on the drunch menu! Ok so change order the the Caribbean bowl. It was super bland. It's like it's missing something. Not horrible but definitely not anything memorable. Bartender never brought water or asked if I wanted another drink. He spent time chatting with coworker tho. I asked for check and he proceeded to do other things. I go take some pics. Still no check. I put on my coat and finally he brings a check with 18% added to it for 1 person at the bar. I'm a fair tipper so I abhor this especially for 1 person. Nonetheless while he was nice enough, he wasn't engaging and if I say I want the check and have my coat on and I don't see you even motioning like you are trying to wrap me up I'm definitely looking at your customer service sideways ESPECIALLY if you have the gall to add in your tip!

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. I 100% recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere to have a birthday dinner or if you just want some delicious food. The music was incredible, the place was beautiful and the food was out of this world! I got the Koko's Island pasta and would highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyWent to Kokomo for a birthday dinner.
..the restaurant had an elegant decor and lively ambiance, they played afrobeats the whole time! I had the jerk chicken with sweet potatoes and it was juicy and well seasoned. I also tried oxtail for the first time and it did not disappoint. The meat was very tender and the gravy made it even more flavorful. Their portions were big so I couldn't even finish it.They're pretty strict when it comes to reservations so make sure you arrive on time.
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed my time here.
The ambiance was lit! The music set the vibe and it was perfect. I wish I remembered our server's name! He was attentive and efficient. Now usually, I'm a chicken and waffles girl, but I had to switch it up this time. I went for the Oxtail Flatbread and it was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. The macaroni and cheese was also VERY good. Macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite foods, so I have a high standard lol. Lastly, I had some of my boyfriend's lamb chops and they were delightful, seasoned well and so flavorful. All in all the food was great and I would absolutely come back here again!
Be the first to ReplyFirst of all - the ambience inside is stunning.
It does feel and even smell like you're on vacation. We ordered the curry rock shrimp (4/5), stuffed plantains (3/5), jerk chicken (4/5), and mussels (4/5). The service could have been better! It wasn't super busy when we went but everything just took forever! Overall a really fun and cute place for date night or girls night!

Asking for myself, your oxtail recipe!? The Oxtail flatbread and Oxtail Entree SLAPS and keeps me coming back to Kokomo.

I'm a little late to the party with finally getting to experience Kokomo. For over a year, every time I tried to go, it was booked. Went on a Thursday to celebrate a friends bday dinner. We had 7:30 reservations and arrived promptly. The host was gracious and warm. The decor gives you top tier Caribbean restaurants at a resort. They were careful in making sure that the decor give plenty instagramable spaces guests to memorialize the moment. Even though there were several tables upstairs we were lead downstairs . I'll come back to this. For appetizer, I ordered the roasted stuffed sweet plantain, my friend had the fish tacos and a ginger beer. For entree I had the oxtail flatbread and he had the jerk chicken. The dishes were a sizable portion, enough to share and so we took turns eating from both. The food was definitely the star of the show, a chef's kiss. We ended the date with a dessert bowl in honor of his bday. Overall, it was a good experience. The bill was right under $140 with tip which is about average for NYC. For me it wasn't great because of the seating. Whenever a restaurant has multiple levels they must be careful that all levels provide guests with a similar dinning experience and that wasn't the case. Both my friend and I as well as a table near us with 7 stunning ladies all felt like we'd been sent to the basement as punishment. Most of what had made us what to experience the restaurant outside of the food was upstairs and out of sight. I didn't get dressed and leave my house to sit in a basement. Sorry, not what I was expecting. They'll deny the seat guests based on their implicit biases but I know that's the case. We didn't have kids, or a large party, was dressed to perfection. I won't be revisiting to dine in. If I want the food, I can order that to go.
Be the first to ReplyHeard great things about this place.
Went for Saturday brunch by myself as I happened to be in the area. Love the ambiance of the spot, it was a great vibe once you walked in. Since it was brunch time, I decided to start the day with one of their 'Kokomosas'. I ordered the Pear-Ginger Kokomosa which was good. Nothing particularly stood out about it, don't think I really had any expectations.I went on to order the Sautéed Caribbean Bowl which was definitely good. I've recently got into Ackee & Saltfish as I was definitely interested in experiencing their take on it. I loved that it came with the hard boiled egg, as I tend to always order some type of traditional breakfast dish for brunch. The plantains that came with it were decent. I think I wasn't expecting them to be boiled (overlooked it on the menu) as compared to how they are usually prepared in Caribbean dishes. The callaloo was delicious, as I believe it was my first time having it. All and all, it was a great choice. Then I order the Frozen Rum Punch. Definitely the highlight of my day. Usually pre-made frozen drinks tend to be very "watered down", but not these. Absolutely loved the spiced flavor to it as well.Definitely recommend checking out Kokomo. I try my best to support as many black owned establishments I can. The staff and the service was great. I'm looking forward to heading there for dinner with my wife in the near future.

Oxtail flatbread was amazing! I was skeptical at first because I am used to traditional oxtails with rice and peas...but I loved this flatbread. The food, drinks, service, music, ambiance were all fantastic. I can't wait to go back again and highly recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
That's it that is the review! You know the food is good when you don't mind sitting outside to eat it. First of all, I hate outdoor dining. I am not leaving my house to go outside and eat--I got food at home. However, Kokomo is the exception. To be fair, I was 2 hours late for my reservation and they still accommodated us. Part of the tardiness was the late of parking in the area but that is a whole different issue. The food was great and I would definitely come back for brunch.
Be the first to ReplyWe really enjoyed our time at Kokomo.
The ambience is upbeat and enjoyable. The music was great. The service was top notch. And the food was delicious. I ordered the Caribbean bowl and my friend ordered the Koko's Chicken & Waffle. We both enjoyed our dishes. We also tried the mimosas and they were delicious. The bread pudding was just ok to me. The rum is very very very strong in this. So if you like a very strong rum flavored bread pudding then you'll like it. I did not. We got to sit in the swing seats and that was very enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back. This is a cute spot for a date, brunch or small birthday gathering.
