Normally, I don't post reviews but i cannot let this pass.
.. we were there last night for dinner..our first time ever in this place...we were.party of 4. As we start ordering, the server suggested couple things on the menu as a great to try for the first time.. we tried couple stuff was not bad at all but the Crab Galette tested horrible joicy......we never touched it and let the server know about it however, he did not comp it nor replace it with anything else...As we moved to the dessert menu, Byron B suggested Foiecolate bar to try it, not knowing what are the ingredients in this so called dessert??? we tried it and right after we tested it we all felt nauseated... and about to through up. We told him about it and I suggested to the server that they should alert their guest if they are allergic to this food combination ( chocolate, Curry sauce, Goose Liver) the test is horrible....it did not take more than 2 minutes, my wife strat sneezing uncontrollably and had allergy attack where she almost stop breathing as we left the place.. We went straight to walgreen to calm her allergy down. servers are not trained on the food ingredients combination and whether guest might be allergic to this foodour bill was outrageously expensive for what we ordered and walking out with very bad experience..

Service was excellent. One of the better tasting menu experiences I have had in Florida

Let me start by saying that my fiancรฉ and I have had omakase 6 times in the last two months. We LOVE sushi and are admittedly spoiled to traditional Japanese style. This was our first "Hybrid" experience and frankly, we weren't impressed. We made our reservation with Koya in early May about a month prior. Koya makes you pre-pay for the meal, tip, and taxes. We paid $1,004 for the two of us. We then added a bottle of sake (read below) which added $100 to the tab.Natsu (Summer) Tasting: $550 (2 people)Premium Sake & Wine Paring: $250 (2 people)Service Charge: $144 (18%)Taxes: $60Sake: $77 + tax + tipTotal: $1,104This meal was the most expensive of all of our sushi experiences. Even more than Nobu in Atlantis Bahamas. Needless to say, we came with empty bellies and the highest of expectations. Let's start with the food. There was an inconsistency to the quality of each course. A few were paired to perfection for the most experienced pallet. Flavors were brought together that blew my mind and matched my expectations. Then there were some big misses. One course for example was prepared as a roll and then cut into slices to be delivered to each guest. It was of such poor quality that my Instagram loving fiancรฉ didn't even want to take a picture of it. The seaweed was chewy and the rice was undercooked with some noticeable hard bits. That said, most the dishes were presented beautifully. Aside from the quality of what was there, it was what wasn't there that was most shocking. We weren't given a single piece of traditional nigiri style fish. You know, when the fish is so fresh you grab it with your hands and plop it in your mouth. Not here. Not a single bite of it. Shockingly more than half of the dishes we were delivered we were advised to use fork and knife to enjoy. Traditional omakase is always chopsticks/ fingers. This was a very Americanized experience from start to finish and the fun cultural experience you typically get with omakase simply wasn't there. Also, the quantity provided really needs to be addressed. Never in my life have I left an omakase style meal hungry. Readers, we stopped for pizza on the way home. Yea...On to the chefs/ customer experience. They were as friendly as can be. Warm smiles and genuine great people. It was our anniversary and they not only wished us a happy anniversary but they also added it to the top of our menu. A great customized touch. As you watch them prepare each dish you can see in their eyes the care they have as they piece it together. Dirty dishes were removed promptly and the restaurant was kept very clean. That said, avoid the sake & wine pairing. We weren't given a single refill. We were still sober half way through the menu and opted to buy a bottle on top of the tasting just to enjoy ourselves. Back to the traditional omakase style, usually the pairing is all sake, not sake + wine. It was mostly wine here. We attached several photos from our experience. All in all it was a good time. The food was enjoyable and it was a unique experience. The issue for us was our own high expectations & larger appetites. Have you ever heard the phrase, just because it's the most expensive doesn't mean it's the best? Well...

Definitely recommend for special occasions, for me my special occasion was just enjoying my brother's presence before he flew back to LA.The price is steep, I must say but the quality and effort that goes into the meal (in my opinion) calls for it. It is $250 per person and $125 to add a wine pairing or $125 to add caviar with your meals that go with caviar. We added the wine pairing, there was a wine/sake for every dish (I read in a review that they didn't get a wine every dish, we did- I am not sure if that changes). Luckily for us, one of "wine" / "sake" pairing was a Japanese Whisky... so good and smooth and happy to start my meals off with a shot.Don't worry if you don't want the pairing they have a wine, beer list and sodas for the nonalcoholic drinkers. This place gives you an experience, you will learn and savor. Otoro was my absolute fave. The tempura shrimp, bamboo, and shishito was a bit disappointing... because it was basic and nothing stood out to me. They have auction fish, so they literally bid for their product and have produce shipped in from it's native place. Please note: Small portions, 8 courses...I left satisfied, not full but not hungry. If they would've asked if I wanted another plate of something, I most definitely would've said yes lolThere was a rice bowl in the courses, so that was pretty filling!

If you're thinking of booking here, but you're wondering if the price is worth it: yes - absolutely! Not only is the food incredible, but the owners are wonderful. They create an overall one-of-a-kind experience for you! I would absolutely recommend. I will be back!

I have been to Michelin starred restaurants all over the world. For $475 for dinner and the saki/wine pairing this was just eh. Fun place, decent dinner, not worth it

Why 5 stars? We did the tasting menu at Koya for a special occasion. The price was a little scary when booking but the food was fresh and out of this world. I love the intimate feel, love the Chef and his wife and the meal was top of the line with quality and taste. From the Uni, Toro and even Fried Eel (that was out of this world good). I will be hard pressed to do it again as it is not budget friendly but for quality and service you cannot ask for more!
Be the first to ReplyI love this restaurant! Definition of a hole-in-the-wall.
Wow, so good. I daydream about the Kamo Crostini and the Sashimi bowl about 4 times a week. Experience is very enjoyable. Big fan of the ambiance (jazz music & Haruki Murakami quotes in the menus). This is my anniversary spot. However, I ate the Hokkaido Uni and Yuzo Gelato dessert in one bite... it cost $40... sad. As a college student, I cannot afford to splurge on a single bite, never mind how scrumptious and mind-blowing it is. That is the only complaint I had so good job! I will continue to come back every 6 months or so!!

I came to Noble Rice on a whim since I was in the area and was craving Japanese food (what's new?). I arrived at around 5:30pm and there were plenty of tables so I was seated immediately. After perusing the menu for a bit, I ordered the Premium Selection Chirashi which is supposed to include the "best of the best" sashimi. I also ordered the kamo crostini and king salmon sashimi small plates as an appetizer. The king salmon sashimi came first and I was very impressed with the freshness of the salmon sashimi. The persian lime and garlic sesame brittle on the dish was a tangy surprise. The garlic and sesame brittle was sweet in flavor and it was almost candy-like. The kamo crostini arrived soon after, and when they said "small plate", they meant it. It was three small bite sized crostinis, topped with duck (duh), pistachio butter, onion jam and shiso leaf. They also included a white flower on top for garnish which added some extra pizzazz to the dish. From the crunchiness of the crostini to the tender duck breast to the sweet jam, everything married together perfectly. It was definitely an interesting dish and something I haven't had before. Now for the star of the show: the chirashi bowl. I can not rave enough about the bowl. They weren't fooling around when they said that the sashimi would be the "best of the best". It was a bowl of toro heaven with a few slices of salmon and uni. Everything in the bowl was so fresh and buttery. Truly a melt in your mouth sensation. The wasabi was also very fresh - not your average wasabi that comes in a tube. If you're looking for some quality Japanese food, look no further!
Be the first to ReplyI came here for the omakase table.
I had high hopes because of the reviews. However, I'm very disappointed that many pieces were overseasoned and it got difficult for me to taste the fish. I'm also very shocked how small of a portion they serve given how much they charge. I was explained that it gets expensive to ship fish over from Japan, which I understand but charging $125 for seven regular pieces is just ridiculous. Just to be fair, fish was very fresh. I'll never come back or recommend anybody to dine here.
