Béatrice, our Fine Arts expert, announces a surprise to us, which extends the discovery of jewels and works of art, simply by going to lunch, in a very famous Relais-Châteaux, La Bastide Saint Antoine. A reservation having been made, our tables are reserved for us, at 48, Avenue Henri Dunant, on the heights of Grasse. What a surprise this beautiful ensemble, a prestigious 5-star hotel and gourmet restaurant, in a bastide, an old Provençal residence, from the 17th century, in the center of 10 hectares, of 1200 olive trees, 2 thousand years old, whose fruit is called abomasum. A hotel with sixteen rooms and suites, each with the evocative name of the picturesque villages of the region, and a Michelin-starred restaurant, l'Oliveraie, listed in the Grandes Tables du Monde. Béatrice describes it to us, in her own way, as being a jewel of light in our Provence Côte d'Azur, in a house of character, with its terrace and its landscapes over the Estérel, the bay of Cannes, and the deep blue sea. . We did not have the opportunity to congratulate the great chef, Jacques Chibois, but his representative and assistant, the Chef, Jean-Francois Marre, for his gastronomic journey, full of flavors, perfumes and colors, which rivals boldness and subtlety. As for the wine list, it's abundant with a cellar of 1000 references and according to the Head Sommelier, 25,000 bottles in reserve, from illustrious labels to confidential wines. A kind and warm welcome and a sincere, very professional service, that of the big houses, under the leadership of the Room Director. Three decades after his reign, Maître-Chef Chibois has been relaying flavors for two years with Super-Chef Marre. What more could you ask for than to preserve this high-end tradition. Well, the guests' mouths are still open, but their stomachs are full. The menus are, for our account, that of the Oliveraie at €76.00, which was more than enough for us, and four others are offered, but a little more expensive and also, more extensive, in service. A ratio, high quality-services on the plate/price, well balanced, for a renowned restaurant. Great personalities have passed there, such as the Kennedy family and the Rolling Stones and us, of course.
