L'antica Pizzeria da Michele Taverna and Cafe New York Reviews from The Last Year
L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele NYC is an upscale, brick-oven
L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele NYC is an upscale, brick-oven pizzeria and restaurant located in the West Village section of New York City. Ishmael, the host that also doubles as a server greeted me and showed me to my seat quickly and with a huge smile. He passed me off to Katya, the bartender, who made me an amazing old fashion. I am very particular about my old fashions and this one was remarkably delicious, slightly smoky, sweet, but not too sweet, and with a depth that made the drink very interesting. I had two! The pizza is handmade and made to order. I love the margherita pizza but wanted extra garlic, oregano, and mozzarella. My special order was no issue. Along with the pizza I ordered meatballs. I wanted the meatballs to come out first as an appetizer. They were like my mom's! The sauce, to me, is just as important as the meatball and both were delicious. The pizza came out piping hot from their imported from Italy brick oven. It is obvious that they use quality ingredients. The crust was thin and lightly dusted with pizza soot, a sign of an authentic Roman pizza. Every bite was delicious. I had to force myself to leave some to takeaway. The pizza really is large enough for two but can be eaten by one very easily, because it is so good. I will be rating this amazing pizzeria and Italian restaurant with 5 stars and putting them down as one of my new favorite places in New York City.
A friend was in town for the week so I made a reservation
A friend was in town for the week so I made a reservation here on a Friday afternoon. It was easy to get a reservation and we honestly didn't need one as it wasn't busy at all. Our waiter started off attentive but as the meal went on we couldn't even flag him down to get a refill on a drink. Our first drinks took a while to come. We finished our food by the time he finally came back so we didn't bother with a second drink. We had asked for something to take home on a separate check and he combined it all anyway so attention and service was definitely limited despite the place being practically empty. The Pappardelle Genovese was good and a perfect portion to finish for lunch and the wine I ordered was good. The seating is comfortable and food came out in a good amount of time. All in all, it's a decent casual place to grab a bite occasionally.
Wow, wow, wow; best Napolitano pizza in NYC hands-down! We
Wow, wow, wow; best Napolitano pizza in NYC hands-down! We were in Napoli for our honeymoon this past fall and were hoping to relive the magic at home. Da Michele gave us a romantic atmosphere (in their basement wine cellar), exceptional service, and delicious food. We started with arancini balls - yum, yum! For our entrees, we shared the classic margherita pizza - just like in Napoli! - and the cavatelli sausage broccolini pasta - devine! We then took home their cookie plate, which we enjoyed for the next two days. All cookies were fantastic, but the expresso oreo and rainbow cookies particularly stood out. I cannot wait to go back and try more of their tasty options.
Lovely ambience and friendly service.
The food is good, but nothing mind-blowing. The cacio e pepe is nice and cheesy. The gnocco fritto was a good appetizer but could have done with a bit more ricotta. The pesto pizza was overall good, but a tad on the saltier side. The cocktails (alpine spritz and pear-fect time) were very good.
We ordered margherita pizza.
pesto pizza .Both pies were cold. Even the beer wasn't cold enough. Service was terrible. The ambiance is ok but I would never go back again and waste my money.
This is probably as real as it gets.
If you read a bit about their story, its origin is in Naples. I haven't had the opportunity to visit there yet but this will have to do. I've dined here twice and I'm due for another visit. Everything from the pizza to pasta dishes are divine. Not much left to say, but if you're looking for authentic fare-this is it.
Great time in the Taverna
We recently hosted a party for 40 people in the Taverna and everyone had a great time. The food was outstanding- their pizza was as good as its reputation and we loved the Arancini, meatballs and cavatelli. The private space has a great energy with its own bar and large tables for parties. Service was first class so happy we decided to have our party with them.
L'Antics Pizzeria da Michele NY version pays a good homage
L'Antics Pizzeria da Michele NY version pays a good homage to the original - the service is friendly, the location is very village, and the food is really good. The pizza is as neapolitan as wished, perfectly cooked with the dough on point and very good quality toppings. The cacio e pepe pasta equally delicious, so overall a real must. Not lack of good pizza options in New York but nothing, at least for me, beats a quality neapolitan pizza.
I ate at the original da Michele in Naples, and I respect
I ate at the original da Michele in Naples, and I respect how they're trying to bring this pizza style to the US. The texture of the pizza definitely reminded me of the original. The quality of the ingredients are also there. The only gripe I had was the execution. It needed just slightly more sauce and the biggest thing was the burnt crust on the bottom. It completely overwhelmed the taste unfortunately, and even when we asked for a second pizza less burnt, it still had burnt spots that were very noticeable. If they fixed the burnt crust issue it would be a solid 4-4.5. Pasta was pretty good.
This place was on my list for a while.
Finally came here for dinner and wasn't disappointed. We had a Caesar salad, a pasta dish and their oldest pizza. Apparently it's been made the same way since 1870. The salad was good, the pasta dish was underwhelming and the pizza was delicious. The pasta was fresh, but sadly under seasoned. For an Italian restaurant this is a bit of an issue for me. The pizza pie on the other hand was delicious. Now this is NOT your typical NY pizza. The crust was paper thin and the slices a bit floppy. The combination of cheese and sauce was perfection. The seasoning was spot on. The price point was also very reasonable. The pies are your regular size pies not the little individual circles that cost triple the amount. Overall, this is a top notch pizza place with amazing pizza that won't break the bank. Finally I ordered a double espresso which tasted a bit watered down. Not what you'd expect from a top rated Italian restaurant. If you're in the mood to try a really good pizza, this place is hands down one of the best. For Italian food, there are better options. Definitely will be back to try their other pizza.
A bit disappointed from the pasta.
The server said the pasta can serve around 2 people. When we got it, I felt like it can serve only half a person. Overpriced for pasta was an overstatement. There were a few pieces of clams and few pasta, pasta was definitely fresh, but that can never justify the amount being served. The pizza and the scallops were great. Overall, the pasta was super disappointing.
Worst pizza in NyC
Worst pizza in NY and possibly in the world. Soggy bad sauce terrible mozzarella badly cooked. Maybe good for American but don’t say 100 years old Italian. That’s not Italian and not even a decent American- Italian

It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!
