Two firsts for me
This was not only my first visit to a Laotian restaurant but also to a Michelin starred restaurant. My husband, daughter, and I all enjoyed our dining experience. Our food was delicious, and our service was amazing.

amazing food, great staff, and a beautiful location! My husband and I enjoyed an amazing night in this restaurant! I can not wait to return and taste the rest of the menu!!

The fried fish dish was amazing and the overall experience at the restaurant was very pleasant. I would recommend 100%

Food was quite good - some dishes better than others. The crispy rockfish was both delicious & had a great presentation. The crispy chicken rice was tasted great, but looked a bit underwhelming. The snakehead curry was nothing to write home about, but was tasty. The ground pork main dish was just marginally okay. Of the appetizers we ordered, the calamari was wonderfully different from the typical fried calamari. The chicken hearts were unique and tasty (but beware the super hot accompanying sauce!) itโs been a while since weโve ordered wine, but a basic screw-top bottle set us back $52 - shockingly high.

The food is good: whether Laotian or not, I cannot judge. Cocktails excellent. Deserts? Weird. We booked for 6, but got only 3 tables for 2 each. Very noisy, not only from many people ( always a good sign) but unnecessarily loud music/noise from loudspeakers somewhere.

A very good experience, the food was exquisite and the service faultless. The minced pork dish I had as a main was very authentic, and took me back to happy days spent in Vientiane, especially as it was washed down with beer Lao on draft
Be the first to Replya great food option
looking for a dinner place and the menu here looked good and never tried laotian food so decided to give it a go. it was easy to order over the phone and ordered the fried tofu appetizer and the crispy chicken with ginger rice. the fried tofu was good - extremely crispy and the flavor underneath was good, a bit spicy but flavorful. the chicken was also good with a nice serving and good flavor overall a great food option
Be the first to ReplyRestaurant week flop
Terrible meal during Restaurant Week. Our group of 3 ordered the Restaurant Week menu and asked our server if main courses were shareable, which she told us they were. We specifically said weโd like one of each dish EXCEPT the soup, so we could easily share, but when the food came out 2 of the 3 dishes were soups, to which she replied โthose are also soups, they just donโt have the word soup in their name on the menu.โ Huh? This made for awkward sharing and, at the end of the meal when we explained this to a manager, she apologized but did nothing to offer a discount or anything else. We wonโt be back.

I wouldn't buy from here again. Poor quality food, badly organised and poor value for money. We had the chicken, spicy pork and shrimp... all 4 shrimp. The noodles were over cooked and sloppy, Chicken was dry and tasteless, Pork was surprisingly ok. Went to the web site, it said 1/2 hour to wait for delivery. After the order was placed it went up to 11/4 hours and we planned accordingly. The food arrived an hour earlier than we exepected and, as mentioned it was over cooked. At $80.00+ there was plenty of tasteless starch and little enough of anything else. Never again.
Be the first to ReplyPricey but questionable on who they accept as guests
Though I and several of my friends have ordered delivery of their delicious food, we actually decided to pay a personal visit to the restaurant. We had maks on and were appropriately dressed, however, to our dismay we were greeted by two women who looked at us like they had never seen POC before in fact it was so glaring we were shocked by the reception we received at the hostess desk upon entry -- it was obvious by there 'glare' that we weren't expected for dinner and then were told all the tables are "reserved" and that the wait is at least one (1) hour. As we eat out regularly at various places around the City I have never heard of a 1-hour wait for a table to clear -- 45 minutes maybe but not an hour. As they continued to stare at us we looked around and notices many empty tables throughout the restaurant. With no people of color at all anywhere in the heart of DC, I am wondering if other brown people have been turned off by this reception. Though their prices are high we thought ordering food from this restaurant meant a welcome -- but now it seems everyone is welcome except people-of-color. Not a good situation. I hope they will adjust their attitude soon -- we won't be back for a while.
