L'Ardente Washington Reviews from The Last Year

All around really enjoyed this place, their food and the general vibe. Service was awesome and management checked in on us!
We love this place.
We started out with the Prosciutto Di Parma and Carciofi. I had the parpadelle, my wife the layered lasagna, and my daughter the ravioli. Our drinks were great (old fashion, pinot grigio, and etc.). Desserts Teramisu Flambe and Ricotta Cheesecake. All items were delicious and most are in the photos already. Service was great, bathrooms clean, ambiance was inviting. We are not used to DC, so I have never seen a 20% added for service workers and then they said an additional tip would be generous. We don't have that even at the nicer restaurants in Nashville, so I didn't know how much to tip with the 20% already added. Usually, that is "baked" in the food cost where we are from.
Amazing food.
Loved the 40 layer lasagna , seafood dish and my cocktail was also delicious ! Ambiance is great for date night / special occasions.
5/5! Highly recommend the Duck Hunt and any of the pastas.
Service was quick and professional
Very underwhelmed by my last visit.
The best items of my meal were the ones that weren't prepared by the human hands: the red wine and oysters. Now as for the meal: 1. I ordered the 48 layers lasagna, I couldn't even eat it halfway. The sodium levels were high, it was almost like I was just eating salt. 2. I had to order a desert to counter all the salt on my tongue and throat that the wine nor water washed away. I ordered the Tiramisu (it was different and I wasn't impressed) 3. Then for my desert drink I ordered an espresso martini and requested they substitute the vodka with tequila. The establishment charged me a shot of patron and the drink. Most establishments just make the liquor substitute which is weird on their part and of course the drink came out tasting like patron. The morning after my throat and tongue still taste like salt. Of the two stars, one is for the oysters the other for the red wine.

Decided I really needed the 40 layer lasagna for my birthday this year -- let me tell you guys, the food did not disappoint! We started off with the Arancini and Margarita pizza, both were delicious! The cheesiness of the arancini with the chili oil was to die for. The pizza was tasteful and cooked perfectly. Let me not get started on the lasagna, it lived up to the hype. The rib meat in the lasagna gave it a different taste but in a good way. One small note - we def thought the portion was going to be a bit bigger. Nevertheless it was good! For dessert we had the Tiramisu Flambé and the soft serve. The presentation was so cute and fun. The service was fine, our waiter was nice but he could've been a little more helpful since it was our first time here. Our drinks were good too! Overall, great experience for my birthday! Would def be coming back :)
Incredible experience.
Such a beautiful restaurant and the staff is amazing! We were indecisive on which wine to choose and their wonderful sommelier, Kendrick, helped us find something we loved. Service was stellar and the manager was absolutely impeccable. Will be returning and I highly recommend.

Quite possibly the best Italian restaurant in DC and certainly among the best places around. I find myself thinking about the pappardelle, lasagna, and the duck soup on par with how often I think about the Roman Empire. The only thing off with the experience is the tacky neon sign referencing cocaine by the bathrooms; otherwise perfect.
Okay okay okay I get the hype now, I really do! We came
Okay okay okay I get the hype now, I really do! We came here with a group of 9 people who were all excited to share lots of things on the menu, which (in my humble opinion) is the best way to try a restaurant for the first time. We got a good selection of the menu and I really think I got a good feel for what L'ardente is all about. First, our server was super attentive and kind. I know with 9 people it can get hectic, especially on a Friday night, but he never forgot anything and kept a smile on the whole time. 10/10. I'll list the items we tried in order of my favorites: Zucca Arancini Bucatini Cacio e Pepe Hamachi Crudo Ravioli Lasagna Americana Pizza Cheesecake Gianduja S'mores Tiramisu Flambe My favorite cocktail was the Arancia Rossa Margarita, which was super gorgeous and also very delicious. The mule was syrupy and barely drinkable imo, but the Frozen Sicilian was also a winner.
Overhyped! It was fine but wouldn't come back.
For first timers, be aware that they tack on a 20% service charge to your bill. Duck ravioli (3.5/5): This was mostly sauce with a tiny piece of ravioli, hardly any duck flavor or filling. Sauce was good but it was about 85% of this appetizer. Zucca (2/5): Lacked in flavor--I had to ask the waiter for black pepper and red pepper flakes. Very bland red sauce and the sausage was good, but had clearly not had time to properly immerse into the sauce. Bland and definitely could be prepared better at home. 40 layer lasagna (4.5/5): This was the best dish of the night! Flavor was fantastic, presentation was great, and it was a sizable portion. Really delicious. Pretty much the only thing I'd get again, carried the entire dinner. Tiramisu flambé (2/5): Presentation was cool so I can't dock it more than the current score but it was truly the most lackluster tiramisu...the flambé was cool but completely unnecessary as the alcohol did not burn off properly. Dessert was not soaked evenly in espresso and alcohol, leaving some pieces tasting very bitter and some with an overpowering coffee flavor. Would not get again. Service was also incredibly slow. Tables around us were waiting for the waiter to take their orders and sitting around. Ambiance is nice and definitely geared toward a younger, hip crowd--not too loud or too dark, which is a plus. Unfortunately, the meal was lackluster--plenty of better Italian in the city and I would not return on my own volition. But if I came with a group, I'd try a couple more apps and get the lasagna again.
Overhyped and underwhelmed
For the price, I suppose I was expecting better ambience and more attentive service. Granted, we were there on a busy night, but two of the toilets were backed up and the bathrooms were pretty gross. Service wasn’t the most attentive and with a $35 surcharge for truffles on top of already pricey entrees, the truffles weren’t even shaved tableside. Large, large restaurant with the vibe of a mid-range casino. Lasagna was tasty but overall not impressed.
Good food but…
Three of us visited in late December. The 40 layer lasagna and the fig dessert were very good. Service could have been more attentive, water glasses were left empty several times and we had to ask to order cocktails. The worst part was being seated next to a family group where the children were seldom in their seats and allowed to jump up and down behind other guests. I feel like the staff should intervene when other diners are that disruptive. Overall it’s a nice restaurant with some very good dishes. Unfortunately, lots of restaurants have staff issues these days.
Super
Really loved the food and the service. Would highly recommend to all. The lasagne was the best I ever had!
One of the best places in DC
Absolutely one of the best places in DC. Great service, ambiance and amazing food. Perfect for a date night or just to get out. Can’t say enough about the food, it’s unique and delicious. An absolute must
Pricey but top notch brunch
While L'Ardente is pricey, we found the Saturday brunch top notch. The caesar salad was excellent and had a different twist with lemon bits and mint; my pasta was quite good, and my friend's wild mushroom pizza may be the best I've ever had. We found the desserts not as good as the main dishes although the cheesecake was quite good. L'Ardente lives up to its creative culinary reputation.
Loud brasserie with decent food
This is pretty good spot if you’re looking for something Italian and lively. It was not what we were expecting. Some dishes are better than others. Arancini and “fresh focaccia” were cold in the middle. Pizza seafood pasta were excellent. Crudo fish just ok. Spiced apple dessert was strange and didn’t seem fresh. Service was warm and very friendly. The guests are an interesting cast of characters
Great food and atmosphere
40 layer lasagna - if you are on the fence about what to order just know the lasagna needs to be ordered because it’s amazing.
Beautiful place, good food, busy
Great ambiance, beautiful place, great location, good food and outstanding service. Our waiter couldn’t have been more professional and nice. Great food is hard to find in DC and this place was great
Luke warm, soggy pasta
Soggy pasta, nowhere near al dente. Very strange sweet and sour sauce with the arancini. Suggest serving it with a traditional tomato sauce. Food was luke warm to cold. Wine list has very little in terms of under 100 dollars for a bottle. Holding a credit card to secure reservation makes sense for a place like the Inn at little washintion, but for a place that is one notch above Carrabbas, it's a bit ridiculous. My suggestion, skip L'ardente and go to RPM instead - leaps and bounds better.

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕

Might depend on what market you're in? Some have not been developed yet and some are still growing. Make some reservations ahead of time and post them for sale and get ahead of the bot bids? IDK.

I totally agree with you. I’ve had the same thought and issues. But there’s no way to stop it as far as I know, unfortunately. I was worried this was going to happen and apparently it has😞
