I love the food but pricey but worth it.
I love coming to San Francisco when we have our VMWorld conference, and this is one of my favorite spot to eat and relax. When i need a reminder of mom's cooking, it's is here. Best Nicaraguan food, love the cafeteria setup.

First time eating at a Nicaraguan restaurant! Food was okay! No complaints. Food came out quick and the people checking on the guests were amazing!

Went here with my wife, and oh my goodness what amazing food they serve - the portions are massive. Go hungry and you will leave happy!

Terrible! I have been going there for years and have loved the food. Today, I took guests and was terrible. The meat in the Antojitos and the Churrasco was dry. The rest of the food was so bland! The person who ordered the Churrasco asked for French fries to come with the churrasco. They arrived when he had already finished the meat. I asked for Vigoron con yuca and the salad of cabbage and tomato was so dry. It supposed to have some vinegar in it, but nothing. I will no longer recommend it Norma

You do get absolute piles of food - far too much for one meal and almost off-putting. It wasn't too bad, but I didn't love it. The service is a bit strange - halfway between counter ordering and table service so you don't know whether to tip or not - already a difficult problem for non-Americans! Not many of the staff have good English so be clear when ordering.

San Francisco offers a veritable cornucopia of places to see and experience that include many dining options (Oriental, Asian, European, Latin American, Middle Eastern, etc.) throughout this city by the bay. On a recent return visit to the city my wife and I decided to seek out the lesser known dining venues focusing on Central American fare. Following the trusted advice of family members we decided to focus on the Mission District (Located in east-central San Francisco). We started our journey from the top of Daly City and ending up at the Embarcadero (about 9 miles driving distance) staying on Mission Street from beginning to end. After crossing over Cesar Chavez Street, the neighborhoods, shops, and general appearance of business buildings, apartments, and residential homes began to take on a different appearance as well as the locals, signaling we were in the Mission District. Local (primarily Latin American and Mexican) restaurants are practically on both sides of every block along with the ubiquitous liquor stores, low end nightclubs, neighborhood clothing stores, fast food chains, grocery stores, and clusters of people and students waiting the catch public transportation. We decided to try a Nicaraguan restaurant called โLas Tinajasโ. Local ratings for this establishment were good and aside from the lack of available parking (took several trips around the block until we found a spot) it was easy to find. Entering this cafeteria style restaurant we found ourselves at the tail end of a long line. The clientele was predominantly Hispanic (as one would expect) as were the ladies behind the serving line taking food and drink orders. The menus were in plain view, posted on the walls with the Nicaraguan dish names (and an English translation to the right). Brushing off my conversational Spanish, we ordered โNacatamalesโ (Nicaraguan tamales โ unique and nothing in common with the Mexican version) and drinks (Horchata โ jicaro seed and milk and Granadilla โ Passion Fruit). Once we paid, we were given a number, led to a table and with drinks in hand sat down. Took a little while before our meals arrived but once they did, it was amazing. Simply delicious and combined with the flavors of our drinks, a true treat. I highly recommend this dining option as an alternative to the touristy venues and touristy prices common throughout San Francisco. If you take the chance, youโll experience an authentic cooking style, flavors and aromas that will be memorable for years to come at a very reasonable price.

The most expensive microwave food I ever had, I'm from Nicaragua took my husband and his friend to Las Tinajas thinking I was going to impress them, and what happen we all got sick, all our was re warm in the microwave, I talk to one of the server and ask her why was everything cold and she told me that they cook everything early in the morning for the day. And the lady behind the counter act she is doing you a favor by you eating there. I wish we had a more decent Nicaraguan restaurant in SFO

the cleanness is good and hygiene good. the portions of food are generous and a very good deal for your Money. this is a NICARAGUAN restaurant on the mission in San Francisco the food you can choose between all choices since is at front of you the staff is friendly and kind. the cashier is like over whelmed with her job and I believe is the owner but she don't give you an attitude, she just seem want to get your order as soon is possible. the refreshment made of natural fruit and grains are delicious but if you want soft drinks they have it too. going there even if I am not Nicaraguan makes me remember the way the food was serve back home.
