Cassoulet in Paris
I chose this restaurant because when I did an internet search for "best cassoulet in Paris" this was the first restaurant to come up. It's a bit of a trek to get there. The food was pretty good, and I had the cassoulet which was well done. The service was very good, and we had a pleasant evening dining there.

The reception was correct after however sending 3 confirmation emails, a credit card imprint and a threat of debit. The decor was minimal and quaint. As a starter we ordered a pâté-croute (€21 for a slice of around 5mm), then we let ourselves be tempted by the famous cassoulet which was sure to delight 2 people. In fact for the beans no problem but as for the meat it was really reduced to a minimum and certainly not consistent with the photos on the site. This restaurant needs a big freshening up on all levels. Big disappointment, we will not go back.
Be the first to ReplyA delight ! We will return there to taste everything. Because the menu is so delicious.
We had a great time. Tasty cuisine. Well done cook. Efficient service and good choice of wines. The menu is also very interesting.

Muscular welcome, we come for the cassoulet. Rich in beans, poor in meat (cut with a microtome*) despite the 6 announced in the press. Very expensive wines, from the cheapest on the list 50€ they had not been delivered :-( A hefty bill, a missed evening... It was the night they should have kissed me because I'm never going back there again. * microtome= device allowing very fine cutting of 2 to 25 microns.

Home cooking and fresh produce but at slightly high prices. Ditto for the wine list which starts at 50 euros, would deserve one or two wines at 25/30 euros if only to attract a younger clientele… Excellent cassoulet, the house specialty, to share with 2 especially if you take starters. Desserts, a treat. Impeccable service, very attentive sommelier.
Be the first to ReplyA big disappointment, at a high price
An overpriced restaurant for average quality food, despite rave promises on its website. In the homemade cassoulet, its "flagship" product, I did not see the "six meats" promised on the restaurant's website, at most one or two, lost in an ocean of white beans; for dessert, the floating island tries in vain to satisfy the customer. But let's recognize that the candied mackerel as a starter was more sought-after and satisfying to the eye and palate of the customer, if not his wallet. And why serve gigantic portions of cassoulet? This establishment lives on an overrated and unjustified reputation.

The plate is tasty and well served, however there are quite a few negatives: the slates are not up to date, bottles of wine are at least 55, sorry for wanting a wine by the glass. The unpleasant waiter tells me: I have lots of things, I prefer to decide. In summary the service needs to be improved, agree to pay a lot but it was not enchanting
Be the first to ReplyLong wait for my cassoulet
We were extremely pleased with the welcome we received. Of the three of us, only one ordered the cassoulet which had been highly praised in the NYT. No e of us ordered a first course. What left us disappointed was the long wait for our food —- over an hour which is not acceptable. Their reason was that the cassoulet had to cook. We assumed that it was already cooked but just need to be reheated in the oven. In any case, they should have alerted us to the long wait. My trout with leeks was delicious but the trout was scanty. I have NEVER been served such a small portion of fish anywhere. Since I am not a tourist, I might return just to see if they could get everything right the second time.

Great good and great service . Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic French food . Value for money . For sure we will come back again .
Be the first to ReplyGood but expensive
Good traditional cuisine revisited, but a little expensive for modest portions. A sommelier (unusual for a small house) offers wines (possibly by the glass) but without specifying the prices. We notice it when we add it, it's too salty.

Extremely good dinner experience. The cassoulet was the best we ever had and all the other dishes were fantastic as wel. The staff was very friendly and had great knowledge of the wine they were serving (which also was of very high quality). We ended our night with crème caramel, baba au rhum and île flotante, all of them to die for. Definitely would recommend to make a reservation here if you want the perfect French traditional diner.

I visit this charming place since 30 years Until about 15 years ago run by Lulu, now new owner During her days a luxury place with lobster salad and the like, now much more modest Still worth 3.75 points
Be the first to ReplyWonderful traditional French bistro
We received a warm welcome, very efficient but friendly service on a busy Saturday night (reservations were a must). The cassoulet is outstanding, as was my husband’s evening special - duck stuffed with foie gras en croute. This was our second visit and we will return the next time we are in Paris.

I was in Paris for over a month and this was, by far, the best meal. The Cassoulet is worth a trip to Paris. The wine was the perfect complement. As others have shared here, the food is classic, not fussy, perfectly cooked. Friendly, unpretentious service.

We recently went for dinner in mid-November. With the temperatures in Paris dropping, this is the perfect bistro to tuck for a warm feast. The menu is limited (vegetarians might have trouble -- but most French places aren't super vegetarian friendly), but I get the feeling that everything on the menu is a home run. We knew that Chef David Rathegaber is known for his cassoulet, so we ordered it and one order was definitely two portions. It was delicious. I think we shared everything (escargot, cassoulet, and a Napolean). It was all delicious. It's not too fussy. The wines by the glass are all delicious and reasonably priced. I've read that the cassoulet can sell out. So we went early (about 7:15 pm), by the time we left a few hours later, every table was taken. Side note, it's not like I discovered this place -- it makes Eater's Top Parisian Restaurants - and it's clear that we're not the only ones "in on the secret." The dining room was a mix of Parisiens and traveling Americans (and yes, the Americans were much louder than the Parisiens). Also they checked the Pass Sanitaire and the waitstaff wore masks.
