I had a great experience here, until the lobby bartender refused to serve me a margarita -- after I watched him serve a herd of underage girls (who bragged to me about their fake IDs) shots of tequila and subsequently dirty martinis. He said I conversed with a group of underage women (who he chose to serve) prior to ordering my first drink. He should have done his due diligence in carding the girls was ashamed or serving before refusing me service.

I recently hosted a birthday party in the private dining room. The event was highly disappointing to say the least. There was absolutely no communication after leaving the deposit on the room. I was mislead to believe that I could arrange a special menu for the event. And instead got a poorly planned 2 course menu even after I had explicitly requested a 3 course menu with wine pairings. After the event I was given a survey to fill out, which I spent some time to give a thoughtful response only to get an auto reply from the General Manager who definitely did not read the survey! I will never host another event there and will be sure to discourage everyone I know!

My husband and I had an ABSOLUTELY delightful experience at this hotel. We arrived a bit early and Angel at the front desk was so accommodating. To make the trip even better, we were acquainted with Jaime and Nate at the bar that are friendly, welcoming, and a lovely fit for the vibe of this hotel. They deserve a ton of props as they are the reason we will be coming back to stay regularly.

Best breakfast in town! Great view, fast service, and clean environment. Highly recommend. Definitely going back.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing.
We booked through the AMEX Fine Hotel program which we have used for The Loden (Vancouver) and The Wynn LV. Those were great stays at fantastic properties. This wasn't. Pros- Friendly welcoming service. The valets were especially nice. Front desk cordial offering waters, champagne, and chocolate. The ladies at the hotel coffee shop, Lyric, were great. The town around it is fun to explore with some cool boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Short walk to the coast. Cons-Room was a disappointment. I expected a more decorated room and I've been in rooms where you just stop and go "Whoa!" This wasn't one of them. The bathroom was cursed. Literally a few minutes into our entrance my daughter found herself stuck inside because there was apparently a screw sticking out of the door wedging itself into the frame. I didn't want to force it open and cause major damage so we had to call engineering. The toilet the next day got clogged. Poor engineer guy must have had his hands full around the compound because it took almost half an hour for him to arrive. There was no signal to the tv. Foot traffic from room above was quite audible. I will comment about the hotel restaurant in a separate review but that would fall under the negative section here as well. Wouldn't recommend.

If I can give this place zero stars I would- yes the property is ok (nowhere near a 4 star hotel) The pool is small and nothing to write home about in terms of rooms. The worst was the NYE celebration. We were supposed to be seated at 830pm but didn't get to eat until 12 midnight past the countdown! People left and right were getting upset , the manager even had food thrown at her from guests who wanted to have a joyful and festive celebration but instead went to bed with an empty stomach. And this was New years Eve! Terrible. Stay away. There are better hotels in the area. Sounds fancy - but far from it. It really should just be called the "Del Mar Inn"- calling it a French name doesn't disguise the terrible terrible property.
Be the first to ReplyDrinks are over priced due to the location.
That is not the reason for my low score. My sweater was stolen from there as I left it unattended while I danced. No one could locate it within minutes. If a sweater is at risk of being stolen, I can just imagine what else goes on. Security cared less. Don't be deceived. It's in a fancy area but people there can still be thugs.
Be the first to ReplyLess than adequate.
Staff not attentive or not do they put the guests as a priority. The room walls thin & not not clean . We had be moved twice due to the uncleanliness of the rooms .
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful hotel, lovely rooms, and super relaxing.
Enjoyed a few WFH days here by the pool and the charming lobby bar.

L'auberge is everything we'd want in a beach house, without having to lift a finger. We thought about buying a house in Del Mar, but settled on going to L'Auberge every few months instead. The hotel is stunning! The lobby is inviting, restaurant is delicious and healthy, rooms are cozy... all with picturesque views of the ocean. Nestled in the heart of Del Mar, you can spend the whole weekend wandering about without a car.

This is the most wonderful hotel I have ever been to in my life! Not only is it beautiful the service is amazing! Everyone that works there from the valet to the concierge are so friendly, they treat you like family! I will continue to make this my staycation forever!
Be the first to ReplyThe good and the disappointing.
Beautiful remodeled property in Del Mar. Made reservations at the restaurant for brunch. Very hospitable hostess, menu has lots of options, food was very good quality. Having said that the menu is pricey and for that the service should also be good, it's expected at that price point. Our server was clearly inexperienced. One dish came out 20 minutes before the rest of the food, she never noticed and we had to inquire where are the other two meals? She never apologized or asked us how the food was or if she could get us anything. We've had better service at Dennys. The management apologized and gave us $8 off a bill that was almost $100 for brunch for 3 people, that's insulting. We are locals who would patronize this restaurant weekly had we been treated better, and we have lots of friends who all frequent the best brunch spots in town. The food industry is a rough business, you have to treat people right if you want to be profitable.

My place for a stop every time that I for long walks with my girlfriends in Del Mar beach. We love having a coffee presented in classy ceramic cups by the cozy area near the fire pit with the neon signage of L'Auberge. We love watching the orange sunsets from the terrace, the bar, the corridors adorned with black and white pictures of the beginnings and immersing yourself in another era through them. L'Auberge is a pre and post party pit stop. We always like to say 'we feel so at home here!'

L'Auberge Del Mar San Diego CA Wed 11/23/22ยฉWe all have vexing routines in the everyday life weighing heavily on us sometimes... and although Leonard Cohen says, "there ain't no cure for love", let the cure of escaping into the luxury of L'Auberge Del Mar transport you to another world for a while and become your escape, however temporary it may be... your extraordinary getaway awaits!Hanging on the beach! Arrived Tue 11/22/22.This is an update review, after pandemic. Please checkout my old review. Shaun Beucler, the General Manager, may no longer be there, but the legendary vibe of excellence remains, if your pocket can stand it, go for it, trust me!The ocean views alone are worth it! Pristine! Then there's very nice private pool and you can order poolside or enjoy your meal inside the restaurant. The setting is very unique, it's a luxury resort after all. Don't forget the bar for your drinks, you really don't need to go anywhere but enjoy the amenities. Blue skies & immaculate lavish green lawns will help with that!Just couple of steps down Camino Del Mar, there's an abundance of little shops & boutiques to explore. And of course your Starbucks in case you prefer their Caffรจ Verona dark roast blend.I had to buy swimming trunks at Rusty Surfboards Del Mar next door, cool little store, with great customer service. Forgot mine when packing while on a work call LOLz.Back to L'Auberge Del Mar. They deliver on the promise imho. I also stayed here several years ago and that experience left unforgettable mark on my mind. Kinda old school experience, professional service from the moment of your arrival (the valet) to the room in a turnkey condition. Things largely stay familiar after pandemic, which is a nice spot to come back to. Every time!Quaint, understated, beautiful, fantastic!*I can't sleep cause what if I dreamOf going back to San DiegoWe bought a one way ticket so we could go see the CureAnd listen to our favorite songs in the parking lotAnd think of every person I ever lost in San DiegoCan't go back to San Diego, can't go back to San Diego[ update Review #738 with 8 pics on Dec 26, 2022 ]Living Life! @L'Auberge Del Mar San Diego CA Wed 11/23/22

Be the first to ReplyThis review is for pre-dinner cocktails in the lobby bar
This review is for pre-dinner cocktails in the lobby bar early Saturday evening. The bar staff are friendly and quick to serve. The is a small variety of local beers on tap to choose from and a good selection of wine. We always stop in for a couple of drinks before dinner, a great way to start the night with drinks in a comfortable setting with ocean views.
Be the first to ReplyI stayed here for my wedding weekend and had the best time.
I booked a suite there for the weekend and they upgraded us to a bigger suite which had chilled champagne waiting for us when we walked in! The night before the wedding we invited friends over for drinks and snacks in the Living Room Bar and ended up taking over their gorgeous outside patio. The service was a little slow which was understandable considering the quality of their cocktails and how many people were there. But the staff was awesome and the server somehow stayed organized with 15 different checks. Everything from start to finish was great. We'll definitely be back!

A night away from the kids, went and watched the ponies run in a circle. An absolutely gorgeous night! The hotel is located in probably the best spot in Del Mar. If you want to be beach front, walking distance to shops and restaurants, and a few 100yrds to get sand in your toes, this is the spot. The room was pricey. We booked thru AMX so we got a few perks, the service was awesome. The pool is small, but the food was outstanding. Probably the best breakfast burrito and lox/bagels we have ever had. Overall, I would give it 2 thumbs up!
Be the first to ReplyLoved our 3rd visit to L'Auberge Del Mar.
The rooms are great. Staff is fantastic. So close to the beach you can walk or take the beach shuttle too. Great views all around. Walking distance to shops and so many great restaurants. We will be back soon!

He makes the most delicious craft cocktails...and I am picky! ;0) His Espresso Martini, French 75, and Paloma are yummy! We also ordered appetizers. Chad took the time to ensure our food was prepared well. As he took such great care of us, next visit, we look forward to trying the restaurant, as well.
