Rude staff (food may be good though!)
I asked if I could sit and eat for one and the maitre-de started laughing and pointed at the door. đthey are busy but to be fair I also asked if I could make a reservation for another night as I could not find a website online to do this. The guy at the front and some of the wait staff gave me such a dirty look and he just shook his head and pointed at the door. For reference I am a white woman from America wearing a dress and nice shoes. I spoke very politely in a mix of French and English. It may have been the American accent they didnât like, which is understandable right now. Have not had that experience yet! Iâm guessing may be good. I was not given the ability to find out.

As close to a perfect Parisian dining experience there is
Wonderful, affordable food served in an informal, friendly environment. We looked on at each course ordered by our neighbouring tables, started talking with them and even took each others wine and dessert recommendations as the evening went on. Staff were helpful and attentive. Im almost cautious about recommending Le Baratin too highly in case I can't get a table on my next visit. But cooking and vibes like this deserve to be supported. I can't recommend Le Baratin highly enough.

Lamentable Parisian experience
I was in the restaurant business for many years and consequently am extremely forgiving when things go wrong because I know how difficult and stressful busy times can be. I am always respectful, kind and grateful to restaurant staff. But I have never experienced anything close to what the 4 of us experienced at Le Baratin. From the moment we were seated we were treated with nothing short of disdain. After sitting for at least 30 minutes with nothing other than water being offered, the menu blackboard was slammed on our table and the waiter took off. When he came back sometime later with a pad and pencil for our order we said weâd like to order a cocktail, and he replied âNo, only wineâ. There were bottles of whiskey on the bar so that was confusing. Anyway we said weâd like to order wine. He replied we needed to order our food first, which we did, and again he took off. Sometime later the first courses came out and we told that server that we wanted to order wine. He asked what wine. We asked for a menu and he pointed to the blackboard on the wall, which was featuring about 12 wines. I saw a bottle of wine behind the bar which I recognized and which was not on the blackboard, and instead asked for that. He went and opened it and slammed it on the table and left. We then saw an order of clams go out and hadnât noticed that on the menu, so we signaled that server and asked for an order of that as well. We were told ânoâ. Our server then brought our main courses. All this time we watched our server chatting, interacting, and laughing with other tables, not to mention bringing them bottles of wine before they ordered their dinners. The food was mediocre. It did look like they had a nice selection of natural wines, but the selection was kept hidden from us. I should also clarify that all my interaction with the servers was done in French. One of our dining companions got up to pay the bill and much to our chagrin walked over and gave our server an additional 20 euros. We were all appalled, but it was like flipping a switch. We were then treated to big smiles and âAu revoirsâ. The experience did nothing to dispel the stereotype of the surly Parisian. Having spent an enormous amount of time in France over the years, Iâm very careful to avoid being an âugly Americanâ. Iâm at a complete loss to understand the foul treatment we received. Again, I normally post only positive reviews because having been in the business I know how aggravating poor reviews can be. However, this experience was nothing short of shocking, and completely unprovoked.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* FamousStation67, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* FamousStation67 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to FamousStation67 for any questions Peter may have as FamousStation67 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* FamousStation67 now uses their connections at Le Baratin Paris to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If FamousStation67 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, FamousStation67 receives the $200 reward which is credited to FamousStation67's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Le Baratin Paris!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
