Full disclosure: we came here when we couldn't get into another restaurant we had read about in Le Fooding. Those guys had barricaded the door and left a sign that they'd be back the Monday after Easter. Well, it's the south of France. So, Monday really means Wednesday. We wanted to eat local food-not random fake Italian or tourist crepes or croque monsieurs. So, Lou Pistou seemed like a great alternative. I would recommend all of the niรงois classics-the daube, the ravioli with daube sauce, and the tripe. Stockfish is a local dish that is hard to find and also available at this restaurant! The service is great. PSA for my American friends-if you want the check, all you have to do is ask. ;-)
Be the first to ReplyI had a glorious evening here at Lou Pistou.
ย The owners were so delightful. The food was very satisfying - lovely wine, delicious beef stew and onion tart, and the clafoutis dessert was nice as well. ย Just a charming, homey, unpretentious little place with very friendly clientele. ย Loved it!
Be the first to ReplyIt's just by the harbor and great location at Monaco.
They serve truly fresh oysters. I've tried some oysters in European countries and I believe the oyster from France is the best thing. Of course the oyster from Monaco was good as well. They close the kitchen at 2:30 pm so if you want to have lunch, l recommend to plan to go earlier than 2:00.

This place was not wow even though they have high rating from others. We needed to make a reservation and got lucky to get a spot an hour later. It's a small cosy restaurant and we happen to go there since the place next door was closed. The menu is suppose to be different each day and more homemade. The waiter spoke English. They serve olives and bread while you wait for your food which is a plus. The menu said salade but it ended up a pie. I would go back to try other foods here. I was told Europe is slower pace and the waiting time for the food slow. It was understandable at this place since only one person was doing everything (host, bus boy, server...). They don't have wifi. The toilet is unisex.

This small restaurant is next door to a famous one, La Meranda - which always seems booked, crowded and noisy. So we peeked into Lou Pistou, came in and enjoyed a wonderful dinner served by one of the owners. And behind him we could watch his partner do the cooking. An artist! I would highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I came here a couple of times for breakfast and were pleseantly surprised. We thought it would just be super touristy and lame, but they have fresh squeezed orange juice, good coffee (we ordered capuccino and espresso - both were great), and their croissants are good. We had a friendly, English speaking waitress and the weather was nice on the patio tables.

Nothing has changed. It is still the most charming restaurant in Nice. I could eat there every day.

Imressive decor and very good serviceAll starters are very good (we have ordered 5 of them). Fish dishes are very well prepared and visual presentation makes you curious about the quality. It is very good. Frendly service and impressive wine list. It could be a bit less expensive, but it's Nice!
