Good Dim Sum
My wife and I recently re-visited Lei Garden and found the food very good. We enjoyed the Shrimp Dumplings (all shrimp) and the Steamed BBQ Pork Buns. The Beef Chow Fun was just OK. The wait staff was efficient and helpful.

Just avoid this place. Not worth a visit. Waiter is rude, food is bad, and they cheat in the receipt. They tried to charge something we did not eat. After that, they did even say sorry. Pretty screwed up place as a restaurant business. Not sure how this place is in business still. See other reviews below. They are all true stories.
Be the first to ReplyUnprofessional and RUDE
I ordered by phone a peking duck yesterday for pickup today. Today I called and confirmed my order. I sent my son to pick it up. He came home with the duck AND an $88 order of crabs in the bag. I did not order the crabs. So I took it back right away.
The woman who greeted me INSISTED that I added the crab to the order. I told her that is not possible because I had two crabs cooked at home tonight.
She graciously refunded the $88.
Then, when I asked her to clarify the refund amount, she said something VERY RUDE to me and about my son. That was very unprofessional of her. Her boss was standing next to her, heard the conversation, and said nothing.
People make mistakes. No big deal. Admit it and go on. I understand time is hard for restaurants these days but such rudeness is really uncalled for. They clearly do not want me to come back for more (food or her rudeness).
So I won't and I will let all my friend know about my experience with Lei's.
Upscale Chinese Cuisine
We enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner with friends. We can heartily recommend ( best to very good) 703 ribeye and scallops, General Tso, Chow Mein with chicken, prawns and walnuts with a pot sticker appetizer. Now we want to come back for the dim sum!
Be the first to ReplyBad food with bad service by waitress and owner
see this place has 4 star, but i think it is definitely overrated. If you can, avoid this place. We used to go to Dynasty nearby for dim-sum, but unfortunately, they closed down due to Velco redevelopment, we were kinda forced to go to this place. Today, we came here for Dimsum, waited for 20mins at 2pm. After we got seated, we noticed the waitress was extremely rude. She did not bring ice water as we asked twice. It is well known the waitress or waiters are pretty bad at this place, but the lady we had today was extremely bad. Since they were about to close for lunch, we ordered food from the menu list. My kids wanted to order crab balls, and The waitress said it would take 15min. We waited for 30min, and it did not come out. we asked the waitress the status, and She said with barely understandable English ‘I said 15min wait!’. Well, my wife said it is 30min passed, and she ignored. The food came out finally after ~35min, and it was not well cooked inside. The crab inside was raw and icy cold. So We told the owner (standing at the cashier) about the situation and wanted to cancel the order, and she was even more rude, completely ignoring my comments. WTF! They are running a prosperous business here in Cupertino, but it looks like they completely forgot about customer service. It is not like their food is good. I think people go there because we got no other choice. From now on, we will not go to this restaurant any more. This kinda people need to understand why they exist and what a restaurant needs to do to serve their customers. At check out, we left $3 tip on $70 bill. The waitress was complaining in Chinese to his owner, and we ignored. I should have left $0 tip. Plus, we all live in America, right? Perhaps speaking a little bit of English when serving may help?
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Dim Sum!
This restaurant has not disappointed! If you are looking for good Cantonese style dim sum, this is the place. They still bring the carts by the table, or if you want specialty items cooked, you can also order additional items. They have all of the authentic dishes you would expect from a great dim sum restaurant. Loosen the belt and get your chopsticks ready!
Be the first to ReplyWaiter and people are not friendly and over charged
When we need service, it was taking long time to get service. after you make order no one come to comfirm with you and waiter over order and over charged to us. We had bed experience when we had dinner in there. Make sure after you make order, ask waiter to confirm with you.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Hong Kong dishes
I have a dinner with my friend in this Hong Kong style restaurant in a weekend.
We chose this restaurant because we dined late (after 8pm PT) and it is the only restaurant that will be closed at around 930pm PT on Sunday.
Since we came late, no advanced reservation is needed as many people have already finished their dinner and so there are many tables available.
The menu is extensive. There is also a special menu for seafood and chef recommendation. I can say the price is more high end but the quality of the food is great and the quantity of the dish is big too!
The cooking style is really like those in Hong Kong and it is not fusionized!
Its OK in a pinch for dim sum
Having been to Hong Kong at least twice a year for the past 12 years makes it hard to find a comparable place for dim sum in Cupertino.
But compared to others in the area, it probably ranks higher than most other dim sum places.
Its OK and sort of satisfies my craving, but certainly does not compare to dim sum in Hong Kong or Guangzhou. Nothing great, but nothing bad. Does get crowded as its not that big of a place. I find the quality of the food goes down on weekends when its a lot more crowded.
They do offer dinner too, but have not done that in years so cannot give them an accurate review of dinner fare.
