Best Italian EVER!
First of all I don’t understand the bad reviews this restaurant has as I have been coming here for a number of years and it just keeps getting better and better. When you go to little Italy expect the finest of traditional Italian cuisine. On my last visit to little Italy with friends we had a fantastic night, starting with a browse of their extensive wine list which has a bottle for everyone( we opted for a bottle of Amarone) which they had plenty to choose from with over 10 different options for Amarone alone. We also had a bottle of Sicilian insolia while the amarone was left open to breath which was impeccable. We all had a 3 course meal and every course was faultless. I had started with the baked aubergine which was best I have ever had. My main course was the tagliatelle with lamb and I have to say how succulent and delicious this was. I had to finish this off with their home made tiramisu, “Mama Mia” comes to mind. My friends all opted for different dishes and they all looked fabulous. The service was fantastic from start to finish with knowledgeable and very very attentive staff. We finished the evening with coffees which were just like Italy and complimentary limoncello. For value for money this restaurant gives exactly that and we will definitely be back soon (hopefully we can explore more of that wine list) Thanks again team John smith.
Be the first to ReplyExpensive, standard Italian
Very expensive for what was standard Italian fare. A glass of Montepulciano 175ml £14, disgraceful! Hubby and I shared some focaccia, didn’t have a starter, 2 main courses, 2 beers, 2 glasses of wine £97, not good value for money, these are tourist prices! We will not return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat experience
Had another amazing visit to our favourite restaurant in StAndrews. Staff amazing, food delicious. The addition of their new wine bar adds to the overall experience. Well done to all. If in the area make it your first choice.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful first dinner in St. Andrews.
Three of us had a lovely dinner here. Service was great, pasta and pizza was so good, dessert was perfect, and overall experience was great. Would come back again and would recommend.
Be the first to ReplyOver priced average Italian
Been trying to go here for years, after recommendations and checking the reviews. I managed to get a table with the family and was looking forward to the authentic Italian experience....all I can say is do not bother!!! completely overpriced pizza and pasta. £15 for 2 small slices of bruschetta. Over £20 for each pasta dish which tasted the same as my local Italian at over double the price. Also do not expect a high end Italian restaurant to place the used cutlery back on the table after the starters. Save your money and go elsewhere in st Andrews load of good value and quality restaurants like forgans.

Managed to get a booking for 5 people 'earlier' in evening (by visiting restaurant) when I was told over the phone that 8.30 was the earliest for a groups of 5. What size group usually uses the round table earlier in the evening? Welcome and staff excellent in this very busy restaurant, the "on the house" canopies were very welcome and much appreciated. The menu is extensive with most Italian dishes catered for, pity no risotto!!!! The portions are large and expensive, we are large eaters but a 3/4 portion, at a lower price would one ample, especially when you have a starter, (also large), maybe with smaller portions, desserts might be a temptation! For a future 'after 5pm' visit, the £5 charge to share a meal looks likely! 5 starters, 3 mains, 2 pizzas, bottle of house wine, 2 beers and a coke £230!
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced
We have now been to Little Italy a couple of times now, once just before the pandemic and recently (6 weeks ago). The first time we went we both agreed the food was pricey but very good, the drinks were pricey. Our recent visit was an eye opener, the food prices had basically doubled. Again we could not fault the food it was very good, but extremely pricey. As for the drink, that was an absolute rip off, £14 for a glass of white wine and £5 for a small bottle of coke. We won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyGreat meal with family !
Enjoyed a lovely meal at little Italy this week upon our trip back for the Christmas holidays, atmosphere great and a warm welcoming. We have visited on a couple of occasions. The food was excellent!! The complementary bread given was authentic and a nice touch. A bit pricey but you can’t complain when the food is 100% worth it. Especially for that limoncello at the end. Service is welcoming and attentive however we did witness an altercation where a waiter shouted at our waitress for saying yes when I ordered a Diet Coke for my son…but I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone!! Perfect for a date night or a family meal. By far the best place we have eaten on our trip back to St Andrews! New bar is looking great by the way!
Be the first to ReplyLovely little Italian restaurant
We had a lovely meal in this very friendly, cosy restaurant. I had some concerns having read mixed reviews however our meal could not be faulted. The complimentary bread and olives along with a glass of limoncello with the bill were very nice touches. Our server was polite and attentive in fact all of the staff were very friendly. The food was excellent and no more expensive than most restaurants that we have visited recently. We will certainly go back.
Be the first to ReplyGraduation dinner that didn’t disappoint!
In a very small town (St.Andrew’s) is a very good Italian restaurant! We each had pasta dishes with seafood and they were all delicious. The sauces whether cream or broth or wine based were all just right. The house salad was exceptionally good. In such a tourist town, I was expecting mediocre but it was quite the opposite. It was a delicious dinner with great service and a warm atmosphere. I’m from Chicago where we have a lot of Italian restaurants. This is one I’d go to again and again if I could.

I grew up in St Andrews and when ever I’m home we always come here - bringing all Our grown up kids or a quiet lunch with my husband and mother The food is real mamma Italian - the atmosphere is amazing and just a great place to eat - frankly the best in st andrews A special mention to Freya who was new to being a Waitress- she was lovely and welcoming and excellent at the chat !! Please visit but make sure you book !!
Be the first to ReplyDecent Food but Extortionate Drinks Prices
Popped in here for a meal on a Saturday evening. The food is pretty good value for money, tasty and fresh and the portions are substantial. I will say the downside to this place is the extortionate price of drinks. I was driving so had a Diet Coke and that cost £3.90 for a 200ml bottle and the wife had an average large glass of white wine for £10.50. These prices are more expensive than just about every bar in town. Unless something happens and the drinks prices are drastically reduced we will not be back to visit.
Be the first to ReplyNice selection of dishes, but they lacked in taste.
The atmosphere was lovely (just a bit cramped though), and the selection of dishes was also very nice. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Took a while for the waiters to actually take our order. The starters were probably the best part of the meal, the focaccia being especially great. The garlic bread with mozzarella was amazing, and probably the best garlic bread I’ve ever had. The main courses were big portions which is great but they were all a bit too salty. They weren't exceptional in taste, which sucks because of how expensive the dishes are. I had the gnocchi (£18) and they were okay. The staff was all very lovely and provided us with everything we needed.
Be the first to ReplyLovely meal
Lovely meal, expensive but worth it for a treat.I got the Prosecco prawn pasta was lovely but only 2 prawns which was disappointing but delicious, lovely sauce. Complimentary bread didn’t arrive till after the mains, can’t fault the service though as server was great and she was running about everywhere. Delicious dessert. Wine list extensive. Definitely pricy but really enjoyed it. I’d go back
Be the first to ReplyToo expensive for lunch
I like the ambiance of this restaurant, the staff were very nice and I like the location. My problem with it is that it is very expensive for lunch. The prices are dinner prices. We had 2 pastas, one was a veg spaghetti pesto at £17 and the other a prawn pasta at £24. I don’t mind this in the evening but I found it expensive for lunchtime.
Be the first to ReplyGood god its eyewatering expensive
Party of 4, no starters, 3 pasta dishes, 1 Chicken dish, no dessert no coffee bottle of house red. £110, Pasta was OK, wine was only wine on the list which was remotely reasonably priced, all the others were extortionate, sorry but Primitivo at £92 is taking the piss. Cramped restaurant even with the very small tables constantly juggling things to make space. Would I go back? No,
Be the first to ReplyFirst visit
We were a party of 4 having dinner. Now i must admit I am not a great fan of Italian quisine but the other 3 were. We had no starters but ordered 2 portions of garlic bread which came in 2 slices at £2.50 per slice! Next the ladies had the same pasta dish withe no veg. I ordered the only fish course on the menu which was sea bass and prawns which was ok. My friend ordered the steak and veal which he thought was excellent. Both came with sauteed potatoes and nothing else. I had an ice cream which was £12. We only drank tap water. Bill came to over £133 which I thought wa extortionate. This is a very busy restaurant which packs in as many covers as possible which I can appreciate but it is cramped. Would I return again. No, because of the price. Make your own mind up.
Be the first to ReplyFood good expensive wine
Very popular with nice decor with a big choice on the menu. Although very busy the service was good. The aubergine starter was excellent . Four of the five meals were enjoyed . Mine, the veal dario, however was so sweet almost like it had ice cream and not cream in it. Shame because it sounded so good. As mentioned in other reviews a huge mark up on the wines. Yes the prices are on the menu but not on the website.
Be the first to ReplyGood but my lord it’s expensive
Went with family for a simple bowl of pasta and a bottle of wine left £160 lighter. The garlic bread is tiny and unnecessary which really wound us up. The pasta is very impressive but the wine list is frankly terrifyingly expensive, +£40 for a bang average red. Good but yoiks is pricey. There is a reason why Pizza Express across the road was busy and we could get a table here on valentines as a walk in.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and friendly staff. Gluten free no drama
Friendly staff knowledgeable with the menu. Tilly is a great server who will look after any allergies your group has. The staff allow you to enjoy the food whilst managing to ensure you are satisfied with your drinks or by other fold you would require. Recommended Italian restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyCant get booked, phoned over 100 times
I would like to make a complaint. I have phoned your restaurant over 100 times to book a table with no answer. This is unacceptable. With phone being the only way to contact them any other way. I really like the place and the food with staff being extremely friendly but not being able to book is a joke.
Be the first to ReplyBest pizza I've had since being in Italy
Very busy restaurant which says a lot for it however we managed to get a table on spec. The atmosphere had a great vibe. We had pizza and rissotto which were both exceptional. There is an extensive menu which we will be returning to sample.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic Italian Food
This was our first visit to Little Italy and we will absolutely be back. The food was outstanding. We both had the Bruschetta to start with which was delicious. We then had a pasta and chicken dish, both of which were again of a very high standard. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, overall it was a lovely cosy atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back.
Be the first to ReplyGrossly over rated and very expensive
You could make better food at home for a fraction of the cost. Avoid unless starving. A couple of nice dishes but generally underwhelming.
Be the first to ReplyMy special lunch
I had my lunch here today - I've never had such nice food before. This place feels very special, from the moment you step in to sitting down, approach of the waiters, waitresses, the boss, the, serving, the way the sauces are made, through to the very end. Everything is so freshly sourced and cooked, you can just tell by the taste. I'll be here again very soon and yes I don't mind the 4 hours round trip!
