True fusion
Llama San had some of the best food I've had in a long time. It is a true fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, and did not disappoint. The price fixed meals were a great deal for a first time visitor like myself. I highly recommended doing the three-course priced fixed meal if you go!
Be the first to ReplyScuz me? Where did the Peruvian influence go?
I was so looking forward to brunch here, but, frankly, I was a little disappointed. They have a prix fixe menu where you choose 3 items. No, you cannot choose two appetizers which makes no sense to me. So I went with the chicharron de calmar, followed by the "poached eggs with huacatay sauce." The chicharron was just plain fried calamari sitting atop potato salad. The eggs Benedict, because that's what it was, were bland and, frankly as average as a Mazda 3 on the road. There was not even a hint of huacatay sauce and the huge avocado seemed to have taken a left turn and parked on the wrong plate. Dessert was good, so were drinks. But no, not worth it, because this place has lost its Peruvian spark. Hasta nunca mas, Llama San.

Very tasty but menu very experimental so hit or miss. Squid very spicy but good. Octopus dish very tasty but shud be a salad and not a rice dish. Way too filling with rice
Be the first to ReplyMore Japanese than Peruvian, but good anyway.
This is not your typical Peruvian restaurant, it is more Japanese with a hint of Peruvian. We had the scallops ceviche with radishes, which was very good, in this one the โleche de tigreโ was the Peruvian flare and the Spanish pork which was really good, well cooked but tender, served with Udon Noodles which had a really tasty sauce. For desert we had the โPisco Babaโ. The meal was great and the service very good and attentive taking the time to explain the dishes. I was expecting more Peruvian dishes but this one is very heavy tipped towards Japanese food on this โPeruvian-Japanese fusionโ. It was pricey, but this is to be expected in NYC and near SOHO. If you want to try Japanese food with a hint of Peruvian this is a good place. They have a great collection of Sake and Japanese Whiskies, as well as a few Pisco brands.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing Peruvian/Japanese fusion flavors
This is definitely not a traditional Peruvian restaurant. However, the chef has figured out how to pair the intricate and bold flavors of Peruvian cuisine with Japanese dishes. Every bite was delicious. Sitting on the patio was considerably better than inside, because the music was a little loud for my taste. Service was friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience, but maybe a little pricey.
Be the first to ReplyGood food, average space
The food and service were overall good but the booth tables were uncomfortably small for four people. The cold dishes like ceviches and starters were amazing but the main dishes were just ok.

Nasty textures, overpowering broths, and mediocre cooking. What could go wrong? Every dish to be honest had a fault. Some not worth the calories, some begrudgingly consumed. Had pizza on the way home though โฆ delicious
Be the first to ReplyWorth waiting for.
Ours was the last seating of the night on Saturday, but I didn't expect to be seated 15 minutes late, or to be told to"just wait outside.." Our server was wonderfully attentive and helpful and the food was beautiful and delicious.
Be the first to ReplyNice try
The consistency of the food is perfect. Nothing is over or under cooked. The flavors are another topic. U can c where they're trying to go with them but in the process the flavor of the main ingredient is often sacrificed or overlooked. This is especially sad when talking about the delicate marine flavors. The aji, the squid and the trout are recognized as a rare glimpse in the see of cumin, cilantro and tomato but are otherwise consumed by the spices. The duck breast makes it through the spices but the more delicate taste of for example rainbow trout does not. 4/5 for the try.

Each dish was exquisitely crafted and tremendously tasty. The oysters, harusame noodles, scallop ceviche, chicken sausage, aged duck, rainbow trout, and meringue dessert are all top-notch. Your tastebuds will thank you.
Be the first to ReplyI would never go back
The food was so so and the prices were high, but I had an especially bad experience. When we arrived, I explained to the waiter that I was gluten allergic with celiac disease. One of our first dishes came, which I was assured was fine for me and I ate it. My daughter then asked after she tasted it if it had soy sauce, and the answer was yes. Wheat is the number one ingredient of soy sauce, not soy. Gluten. People in a restaurant should know this. I asked to speak to the manager who was rather dismissive. I told him I would be sick tomorrow, but he did not seem overly concerned.
Be the first to ReplyOnly in NYC do you get this kind of genius
I just love this place. Peruvian meets Japanese? Seriously! It is sooooooo good. Flavours, innovation, style, originality, cool. This place has it all. I was staying in the neighbourhood and noticed a restaurant without a sign/name but full to overflowing and googled it. And then I knew I had to try it. Stopped in and got a spot at the bar. I was blown away by every sip and mouthful. Seriously good find in NYC. I feel so smart just trusting my gut in the myriad of options in Soho/Noho - not disappointed. Just Go for it. Itโs a delight. How can cabbage be this good? And the scallop ceviche - heaven in a bowl.
Be the first to ReplyBrunch at Llama San. Japan meets South America.
Brunch at Llama San. Great choice if you can lock a reservation on Resy ! Cozy space and excellent dishes, a mix of Japanese and South American flavors. Their flavorful bowls (duck, wagyu, tuna) are great to share. We also tried the japanese style pancakes. Deliciously spicy. Banana-miso-icecream was a great dessert
