Back here for a second visit and had a wonderful meal again.
I was hoping to try their famous burger this time but unfortunately it was already sold out by then (6pm reservation). Aside from the Scotch egg and Crispy pig's head that I'd tried and loved last time, I really enjoyed the Stuffed cabbage and Guinness chocolate cake. Everything was on point. Service was friendly and attentive. It was pretty busy when we arrived - I assume people come early to snag the burger. I'll have to make sure to get here as soon as they open next time!

The burger is highly highly recommended!!! Get there early to be able to enjoy this exquisite offering
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite meals in 2024 thus far.
I went on a double date to Lord's last month, and I was blown away by the whole experience. I got us a 5:30 res, and we pretty much immediately asked about the famous Welsh Rarebit Burger, to which our server promptly reserved two for our party. We got a good variety of eats, and every bite was pretty fab! Curried Lamb Scotch Egg - Iconic, and for good reason. Outer curried lamb sausage was perfectly salty and spiced, the egg was delectably jammy, and it was fried to a good crisp! Great to share amongst a pair; we got 2 for the 4 of us. Radicchio Salad - Not lifechanging, but a good balanced pick and much needed for our greasy, meaty meal. Mushrooms with Marmite Mimolette Sauce - Meaty little mushrooms with an umami bomb sauce that tasted like bougie velveeta. What's not to love?! Welsh Rarebit Burger - This was worth lining up at 5:27 and ordering right away. Definitely in my top 3 burgers in NYC; the pretzel bun was perfectly soft and chewy, the patty was nice and thick and cooked to a medium-ish perfection, and the housemade rarebit cheese sauce and bite of the white onion slab made this a 10/10 burger. Proper English Chips - Great; they taste just like Dame's. Crunchy unlike traditional English chip shop chips, but really fab for this American audience. Best paired with tons of malt vin! Duck Pie - Rich, flaky, hearty, yum. We shared 1 amongst the 4 of us, and I suggest you do the same. Chocolate Guinness Cake - Not too sweet, loved the savoury/sour pairing with the crème fraîche. Apple Crumble - My least favourite bite of the night. Delectable, just the least memorable of the bunch. (That being said, there was an even split down the table between preferring the cake or the crumble.) Definitely a treat meal, but worth the $$$ and meat sweats. All four of us had been to Dame prior and loved it, so I'm not surprised that this meal was great, but I am amazed by how good it truly was!
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance of this restaurant is very upscale pub.
Upon being seated our waitress immediately told us that they were down to their last 2 burgers that can be ordered off menu; they only supply a handful of these off-menu burgers a day. We were able to order one for the table to try and it's probably now my favorite burger in the city. We also tried the curried lamb and scotch eggs (very good), the sirloin steak & chips (very tasty). I got a the rosemary grapefruit collins cocktail that was very interesting. It had an aftertaste of MCD's Big Mac sauce upon first sip

Simple, straight forward dishes, all elevated to have a personal character of the restaurant. Perfectly executed, perfectly seasoned. Casual, cool environment with kind, attentive service. It's pricey - this isn't your local pub. We went for the house signature dishes: scotched eggs (so good we ordered a second round), escarole caesar, crispy pigs head (absolute must), and steak with their signature potatoes. Only thing that I have to say gets on my nerves is this: "we only make 6 burgers a day so you have to come dine before 5pm to get one". Ugh.

4.5 Very happy about most of our dish individually, but all together are quite rich/heavy afterwards, maybe some msg too. *Bottarga Caesar - the only dish we didn't love, the lettuce was wet, we felt like they didn't pat dry the lettuce after washing it so the dish becomes very watery, odd. Crouton was tasted like it's been fried 10 times lol. *Pig Head - tender meat in a fried triangle, very good!! crunchy on the outside and tender shredded meat on the inside. *Grilled Quail - quail was very good, tender and flavorful, but the toast was sorta drowning in a pond of sauce/oil so it felt greasy. *Duck Pie - enjoyed it as I love pie and I love duck, but it's very very rich, felt heavy even just eating half. *Rarebit Burger - Couldn't tell what the cheese was but it has this caramelized color. Patty was red but we don't mind it. the raw onion helped to cut the fat. A good burger but also another rich dish. *English Chips - it was better at Dame. Dessert menu looks very interesting and delicious but we were so stuffed couldn't eat anymore. Service was very good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat menu and great food.
Had the rib-eye along with several appetizers and, of course, dessert. Ambiance is a bit noisy - but the quality of the food compensates. Not a great date place (too noisy and not intimate) - but wonderful to enjoy wine, food, and company.
Be the first to ReplyI was shocked to find how much I enjoyed this meal.
First off, walking by Lords you would not realize that it's British fare. Then I thought, what does British fare even mean?! We all know about fish & chips, and maybe a scotch egg iykyk. But I wasn't sure what else would be on the menu. The server suggested a few plates as some of the portions can be small. That meant we were branching out! First up - the hay smoke trout, celeriac & dill. What I expected - something equivalent to a smoked salmon breakfast. Boy was I wrong. What I got - a delicious crudo of trout in a citrus vinaigrette. The celeriac on top was almost foam and added such a soft but wonderful taste to the mix. I was thoroughly surprised. Up next - the quail on toast. This dish looked as expected. Quail are small birds and you usually get the equivalent of a drumstick. But I was really surprised by the depth of the flavors! What it looked like - standard gravy atop a mini drumstick. What it tasted like - heaven. Seriously though, if you enjoy chicken liver mouse, seared foie Gras, or any similarly gamey flavors done up then this dish is for you. Then came the curried lamb scotch egg. In the photos you'll see what looks to be a soft boiled egg wrapped in bread. What it really is - lamb! Which was crazy to me because lamb is often presented in little riblets. This candidly was not my favorite dish, but when in Rome. For the main course - we shared the duck pie. It's small and compact but actually quite filling. While it's dense in practice it's not necessarily heavy on your stomach. If you enjoy duck, or even if you ever had a Marie calendars chicken pot pie and are willing to branch out, try the duck pie. Somehow we were not yet gorged and opted for dessert. The Guinness sponge cake was so moist and despite being covered in chocolate custard was not too saturated. I practically inhaled it in one bite. Our waitress was lovely, leaving us to talk when we clearly didn't need assistance, but springing up when our drinks or plates were empty. What a nice surprise this dinner turned out to be. I cannot wait to visit again!

Nice ambiance in this British pub, a bit on the loud side for the older folks. The bar is quite comfy, which is where we had a reservation. I had a very stiff Hemingway Daquiri which was quite good and my bf had one of the tasty non-alcoholic drinks. The food isn't exactly up my alley but I was keen to try it out. We shared a delicious bread & butter basket, the escarole caesar salad, the welsh rarebit toast, duck pie, and chips. The chips were outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and crispy. I could have eaten a thousand of them. My bf enjoyed the duck pie. It tasted like burger to me, not a bad thing! Salad was really dressed, which is the way I like it. Overall a really pleasant experience. I'm glad we tried it. If I lived nearby, I might pop in for a drink and those chips.

I was lucky enough to be able to try the Lord's burger last night after seeing so many rave reviews about it, and it did not disappoint! The meat was very juicy and flavorful and cooked perfectly. The bun was delightfully buttery, and the cheese melted perfectly on top! All in all, a delectable blend of flavors. The triple cooked fries had an amazing texture of crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. They were served with mayo for dipping, not fancy but oh so good. We also got the rarebit - it was my first time trying rarebit so I don't necessarily have a point of comparison there but I did enjoy it! Our service was efficient and friendly as well, making it a great experience overall. If you're lucky enough to be one of the first guests of the evening, the burger is a must!
Be the first to ReplyThe food experience at Lord's was just okay.
We ordered bread (which was odd bc they only gave us 3 pieces and we were a 4 top), scotch egg, butter beans with mussels and parsley and the pig's head terrine to start. For entrees we had the steak with chips and ox cheek pie (our friends ordered the steak as well, and got the tile fish). The starters were okay. The scotch egg stood out as the most favored item. Steak was solid and ox cheek as well. Nothing really blew us out of the water, though. What stood out to us the most our server. Through the whole meal they seemed like they were rushing us, which I thought was odd, but didn't put much thought to it. The real issue presented after our meal, when our server dropped the dessert menu. We were a party of 4 and ordered two desserts to split and I ordered a glass of sherry. We were about halfway through eating the dessert when the server came over with the credit card machine and said "I hate to do this, but we have a party waiting. Do you want me to split the bill?" (note, not even an apology as this is occurring). We had reached our two hour mark for dining, however, it was very clear that we had just received our dessert and my drink was still full. If they are super strict on timing, the server should have provided us with a warning before we ordered dessert. I understand why these time limits exist, however, each of our courses took a pretty long time to come out. Taking that into consideration, and the fact that we were clearly in the middle of eating, I think they could have been a bit more gracious about it. It wasn't like we were just sitting there with drinks taking up a table, which is why these time limits typically are put into place. There was food actively being consumed. Instead they just ran up the bill, and then asked us to pay and leave. I was shocked. And we totally would have been understanding if they told us after our meal, "hey, we are really sorry, but you only have until x time with our dining time rule, it may not be enough time to order dessert and just want to make you aware of that before hand".
Be the first to ReplyI've been looking forward to trying "modern British" food
I've been looking forward to trying "modern British" food at @lords_nyc for awhile now, and was so glad that I did! The food was so delicious and the service was really great, too!The pie was so yummy and I ate the whole thing, even though it was quite heavy for one person. Fish was tender and went well with the sauce and vegetables. Absolutely adored the scotch egg. Perfectly cooked and the lamb flavor was amazing.Queen of puddings is photogenic but in reality way too sweet for me to eat. I liked the ice cream more but even that was sweet for me. Overall I definitely would recommend for a nice dinner out! Enjoyed my time there a lot!
Be the first to ReplyIt was fine.
I would only come back to sit at the bar and order the lamb scotch egg as the drinks were good and the scotch egg was very tasty. Everything else was average and unmemorable. The chilled beans were over salted, the Crudo dish was a tiny tiny portion. The tilefish was tasty but nothing special. Their other restaurant Dame is better.

.. Not more, not less...This is apparently the secret behind Chef Szymanski's scotch eggs. Well that and however he seasons the lamb shoulder . I'm not sure what to expect when I visit London, but if it's anything like Lord's I can't wait to visit. There's new dishes that I'm not accustomed to like the rarebit, but the warm beef tongue, the braised tripe, the infamous ox cheek meat pies... impeccable. The space is warm with dark green accents with the cutest dinnerware. The staff were swift but not hovering. And I'm not a dessert person, but the queen of puddings and chocolate custard was absolutely !
Be the first to ReplyI really enjoyed Lord's the new restaurant from the team
I really enjoyed Lord's the new restaurant from the team behind Dame. The fact that you have a chance of getting a reservation is a wonderful thing. Lord's offers a British style menu in a space much bigger than Dame. I had a reservation for 1 on a Friday night at the bar. The staff were very nice and the service was pro. For dinner I had;Bread & Butter - simple, bread came out warm and butter was fresh.Curried Lamb Scotched Egg - this is a must get, the egg is coated in lamb sausage and then deep fried. It is excellent.Venison Tartare - I don't know many restaurants in NYC that serve venison tartare. This was another excellent dish. Glazed Pork Belly, Black Pudding - the pork belly was melt in your mouth great. I've never had black pudding before and after having it at Lord's I'm a fan. It's a great accompaniment to the pork belly.Guinness Sponge Cake With Chocolate Custard - delicious, the cake reminded me of a brownie. If your having a hard time getting a table at Dame, Lord's is an excellent alternative.

Everything was great here, the food, the dimly lit ambience, the incredibly fast service, I could go on. The menu is relatively small and simply laid out. There's something here for everyone. I got the below with a short review of each:- Scotch egg (4/5): interesting flavor, perfectly cooked egg. Probably a bit too dry on the meat side of things but nevertheless pretty good- Rarebit (5/5): Delicious, cheesy goodness. This was my first time having this dish (basically soft bread covered in cheese and toasted). Make sure to have it with the Worcestershire sauce and cut some lines into the cheese for the sauce to drip into!- Venison tartare (5/5): super balanced flavor with the meat and seasoning. Could've used a little bit more crunch with the fried potato slices but it was great nonetheless - Duck-stuffed cabbage (5/5): the cabbage was great but what made it amazing was the mashed potatoes combined with the sauce - Sticky toffee ice cream (5/5): simple way to end dinner. I loved the salty toffee bits inside. Absolutely coming here again soon!

Each of you who has ever liked a meme about British food being bland or uninteresting: Go to Lord's and maybe your sin will be forgiven. The chef here has put a lot of thought into his dishes and it shows. Every item we ordered hit that perfect spot. You obviously can't go wrong with the curried lamb scotch egg. They had a monkfish special that was so flavorful. The proper English chips and Pig head itemwe ordered was fantastic as well and paired perfectly with a Guiness.Ambience is very pub-like and welcoming. Service was courteous but they didn't attend to our table for a quite a while, and when we wanted to place an order for another dish, they said it'd take too long, and we'd end up going over the stipulated 45 minute limit. That soured our experience but the food was so good, we'll visit again. And again.

The escarole salad, citrus salad, tilefish and sirloin stake were all good. No standouts on on the menu from this list. Service was efficient and helpful and the setting nice and pub-like.

I normally don't write reviews but felt compelled given how amazing of a meal and service we had at Lord's! I felt like I was back in the countryside chatting it up about Spare (don't get me started). Anyways, the scotched egg was perfection (just like mum used to make). Caitlin our server was engaging and made the meal truly special. 10/10 - will def go back!

I've never written a review before, but Caitlin, our waitress, deserves one! Lord's is a standout restaurant in its own right. The ambiance is great and the food was all outstanding, but Caitlin made the difference! Her knowledge of the menu was unmatched and even though it was my friend and I's first time there, she made us feel like regulars. I don't doubt the rest of the servers and staff are exceptional since everyone we spoke with was super friendly and helpful, but Caitlin is a star!A couple food pics for additional context. Both dishes were outstanding. The squid and crispy blood sausage dish was a standout.
