I was so excited to try after hearing so many great things
I was so excited to try after hearing so many great things about Louie's. We, a party of two arrived for a late evening reservation on a Thursday. The ambience was cozy, the room was dimly lit and bustling with conversations. We started with Brussels sprouts which were a win. The lemon and pecorino brought them to life in such a lovely way. The bread is something I was excited about. However it arrived to the table cold and bland. Not the warm herby goodness I was expecting. Our server who was great by the way, obliged when we asked for it to be warmed. However it appears the chef just stuck it under the broiler and burned it. I went back and forth between the chicken and the mussels. I ultimately decided on the roast chicken. My partner chose the Roman gnocco which was actually pretty tasty for what I can only describe as a lasagna and shepherd pie baby. My chicken however left much to be desired. The chicken had an overwhelming salty flavor. It actually was reminiscent of the rotisserie chicken you pick up at your local warehouse grocery store. I do plan to return because the signature drinks and the stellar service, not to mention the ice cream sandwich were worth another try. Seriously so lovely.

I really enjoyed coming here I most definitely will come here for my birthday and I'm really excited to eat all the good food and meet a lot of really great people.. this place makes me feel like home
Be the first to ReplyThis is the kind of restaurant that you save your 5-star
This is the kind of restaurant that you save your 5-star reviews for. The food is insanely incredible, the staff are sweet angels, and you're treated like royalty once you step in the door. The environment is charming and welcoming while not overwhelming, with dimmed lighting and beautiful artwork. I left my phone at home when I went last night but I would have taken a picture of every dish and drink if I'd brought it. The broccolini (and the vinaigrette!) is a must-have, as well as their various breads and the prosciutto. Everyone's meal was a favorite, and the Rosa y rosie drink was divine. We greatly enjoyed our time and will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyLouie is such an amazing and cozy dinner place! My friend
Louie is such an amazing and cozy dinner place! My friend and I arrived around 6:30 pm without a reservation. The restaurant seemed packed. However, the hosts worked a way out for us. We were lucky enough to be seated within 10 minutes. They offered a variety of options on the menu - all looked great. Our server was great - friendly, fun, and knowledgeable. She recommended me a few options for wine. But I went with a cocktail - Rose y Rosie. The drink was great but a bit strong (in my opinion as someone who doesn't drink often). For food, I had the Margherita pizza. It was super delicious. Overall, I had a great time at Louie. It's a great place for having a date night, catching up with friends, or hanging out with family members. However, it's hard to find a parking spot on De Mun. I'd recommend parking further away if you're confident with your parallel parking skill.
Be the first to ReplyWe all know they have great service, great cocktails, nice
We all know they have great service, great cocktails, nice atmosphere, but let's talk about the brocollini pizza. I've been to the best spots in New York, small towns in Italy, hole in the wall Chicago spots and I've never had anything like this. The wood fire crust, the flavors, the creativity without overdoing it, the freshness...it's one of the most delicious single items I've ever had. Don't ever remove this from the menu Louie, it's a local treasure.
Be the first to ReplyHands down me and my husbands favorite spot in St.
Louis. We look for any excuse to go--anniversary's, birthdays, any kind of special occasion. The ambiance, service, and food are unmatched. It has ruined other restaurants for us because of how much we love it here!!! You can't go wrong with any dish, but we always, always order the Roman Gnocchi as a main dish and the prosciutto as an appetizer. We live in Illinois and it's 100% worth the 40 minute drive. Can't recommend enough!
Be the first to ReplyI made a reservation for Louie on Valentine's Day.
.. or so I thought... once we arrived we soon figured out that my reservation was for Louie's wine dive . Even though they were fully booked, the hostess was so kind and worked her magic and managed to get us at a table within 5 minutes. Our server was amazing, knowledgeable, and fun. The food was delicious. The wine was wonderful. The overall atmosphere was great. I highly recommend this place for a nice date night or a good place to start for a night out with your significant other.
Be the first to ReplyI came here twice and both times were fantastic.
I had the mussels and WOW were they fresh!! I have not been a huge fan of mussels in the past but here at Louie they are really out of this world. And the broth the garlic and tomato really complement the seafood beautifully. I loved dipping the bread into the broth at the bottom!! I also had the cavatelli special with calabrian sausage and broccolini which was to die for. I love when restaurants have fresh pasta and Louie really scratched that itch for me :) I hate to say it but I'd take this place over any restaurant on the Hill. Food was 10/10! I had a cocktail (the Rosie and Rosa) which came in this cute little crystal glass and was just such a tasty combo between sweet, citrusy and aromatic. My only small complaint is that it's pretty loud in there but I don't really mind it. If you're looking for a quiet atmosphere though maybe go early / on a weeknight.

Stopped in to get a drink and a nap, but ended up staying for dinner! They do make a great martini. I somehow lost all of the other photos I took, but I was able to find one. The Cauliflower Fritto was amazing! Like seriously I dreamt about it. It was kind of like fried pickles lol if you like those. It's a pickled cauliflower that is deep fried. So so good! Can't wait to go back and try it again. The Bartender definitely was right on that one because we were questioning our choice at first. Make sure to get a reservation. Because this place is always packed! But it's also a very cozy vibe, low lighting... Perfect for a drink and date night.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular, Impressive, Stellar and Delicious are the
Spectacular, Impressive, Stellar and Delicious are the first four words that come to my mind when describing a meal at, Louie and the service can be summed up as, impeccable. My most recent visits, had my tastebuds dancing and celebrating through the entire meal. Being a single diner, I always sit at the bar and the service is super attentive as if I were seated at one of the many tables. Being seated at the bar, I enjoy watching the bartender(s) masterfully make my cocktail. They truly know their skill and present a refreshing adult beverage. I recently expanded my choice of a starter and I am glad I did. I typically always begin my meal with, Brussels Sprouts. My new experiences were, their Italian Salad and Broccolini. Keep in mind both are big enough to share if you're also getting a main dish. The Italian Salad is made with Romaine lettuce and has Chickpeas as a ingredient. I am a fan of Chickpeas in a salad, so this makes me happy. The Broccolini, blew my mind. It was grilled, crisp and extra full of flavor. I could not finish it all and brought half of it home. I used the leftovers to make a omelette in the morning and it was spectacular. Best leftovers I have ever brought home from a restaurant. My two most recent main dishes have been the Broccolini Pizza and their Mussels. The pizza has Ricotta as its cheese and also has lemon and Calabrian Chili as additional toppings. It's one of the best vegetarian themed pizzas I have enjoyed. Their Mussels are absolutely mind blowing. I'll say they are the best I have ever had and I eat a lot of Mussels. The white wine broth, with shallots, garlic and tomatoes was a perfect bath for the mussels and for dipping the grilled Focaccia. If I could of brought the leftover broth home, I would have. A minor detail that impressed me, was the fact that not one of my mussel shells were missing a mussel. If you enjoy mussels, I highly recommend that you order these. I also want to give a shout out for the staffs attention to details. They provide extra and appropriate serving pieces for each course. I am dining at a bar and I feel as if I'm receiving white linen table service. Great job! If you have not been to Louie, you are missing out and need to add it to your bucket list of restaurants.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite restaurant in St.
Louis. I love the pizza, bread, and hummus. The location is good, as well as the service. The dining area is dark and warm.
Be the first to ReplyWhat more can be said? Another 5-star mealat Louie.
As always, the service was impeccable and the food was delicious!
Be the first to ReplyBest food and best service.
I was in town for work and didn't have a reservation and just stopped in and both the hostess and server were so kind. Even though the restaurant was very busy I still received excellent service and the cacio was fantastic!
Be the first to ReplyThe first host who we talked to lied and said that two
The first host who we talked to lied and said that two people could not sit in a four top booth. They wouldn't let us sit down in a booth despite us asking and i had to make a fuss to sit at a booth because other couples were already sitting there. Later the host admitted that they had no justification for preventing me from sitting in the spot I wanted when I alerted the manager.... Unprofessional & newly trained. I got the grilled Spanish octopus, roast chicken and cod which was the special of the day. The food was not remarkable; the chicken was way too salty and overwhelming and octopus portion was teeny tiny it was mainly potatoes and the fish was bland.
Be the first to ReplyHad a late dinner with a friend at Louie.
It was both of our first times there. Cannot speak more highly of this place-- from the service, to the atmosphere, to the wine, and of course, our amazing dishes. Every bit of dinner was perfection. Will definitely be back!

Miserable service - food was good but the service was really bad. He brought the entrees along with the appetizers and was annoyed when we complained.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible dinner, pastas and chicken really stood out.
Very warm ambiance and fantastic service! 5Stars all the way
Be the first to ReplyOverall great food and service with a hip and dark romantic
Overall great food and service with a hip and dark romantic vibe. Reservations recommended and be ready to spend a little dough. This has been on my list to try for 2-3 years and finally went for a special occasion. Coco was an amazing bartender with great recs! Everything is good and buratta is exceptional. So is the complimentary focaccia - it was towering and the tallest I've ever seen. We walked in on a Friday night at 5pm and next available 2 top was 630 at the bar. You need a res here or be prepared to wait. We were willing to wait so went to Barrio nearby for pre-drinks. I will say the hostess was very well trained and explained that while the restaurant looked empty that it would be entirely full in 30 minutes. She was pleasant, she was right, and she was great at her job. I really enjoyed the bar seats once we were seated. Then again, I always love sitting at the bar. I ordered the Pork chop (cooked perfectly) with Shishito peppers. Wife had the gnocchi but it was more like mashed potatoes on top of a Ragu. I would try a pasta dish next time but couldn't pull the trigger for the $25 butter and black pepper pasta special (Cacio e Pepe). I get that it's hand made pasta, probably with imported butter and cheese, but that seems like a pretty high mark up without a protein. Panna Cotta desert was well balanced with crunchy caramelized nuts, a fruit sauce, and not too sweet. Nice ending to the meal. 1 Appetizer, entrees for two, 2 glasses of house wine each, 1 dessert, 1 coffee plus tax + tip = $170. About what I thought it would cost for a nice night there but just FYI.Check it out if you haven't. I would definitely return for another special date night.
Be the first to ReplyService was abysmal.
Food is drenched in oil. Overcooked pasta. Asked for no cheese or dressing on the salad. 2 times it was wrong. Restrooms need toilet paper.

Haughty attitude by maitre d' exemplified disappointing experience. Never going back. Try Sasha's next door - great staff and atmosphere makes it a great place to visit
Be the first to ReplyThis is not my first time dining at Louie's on Demunn.
Always an incredible meal. The service is attentive without being obstructive. The food (I always order the special entree) has NEVER disappointed. It's a little noisy too be "intimate" but the energy is so positive that it really doesn't matter too much. I always get a bottle of wine. The bartender tends to know more about the bottle only selection (understandable) than the service staff, but the honesty of the service staff saying that they don't know something is invaluable. She went and checked on the flavor profile of the wine WITH THE CHEF and it was perfect. Long story short, this is an incredible dining experience from the atmosphere (vibe), staff, food etc. I will keep coming back and recommending this restaurant. Thank you for making my birthday dinner celebration so wonderful. (I wish I remembered the server's name, but after a bottle of wine....You know who you are and you are wonderful)
Be the first to ReplyFood is delicious.
Most that I have had here is amazing, and if it isn't amazing it's still really good. I only had one thing here that I didn't enjoy and they took it off my bill without me asking when they noticed we hadn't eaten more than a couple bites. The vibe is also really cool although does feel a bit crammed at times. Only thing they could really do better is logistics as they sometimes are overbooked and don't really know what to do with you. Oh they should also do takeout.
Be the first to ReplyAbsolutely the best restaurant in STL- from food to service.
I've been quite a few times and have never gotten something I didn't love. The Brussel sprouts are a must, get them every time!
Be the first to ReplyThe food here is amazing but I would say the excellent
The food here is amazing but I would say the excellent customer service is what makes this place brilliant. Our waitress Courtney was so attentive during our dinner. She went above and beyond to make sure our table was clean and that we were taken care of. I ordered the Chitarra and my date order the roasted chicken. We enjoyed our meal. Will be back.
