Excellent Food, Cozy Place and Attentive Staffs
We had a family dinner there. With all simple, fresh and high quality ingredients, and the chef use their magic hand perfectly cooked and presented in front of us. We ordered Burrata, baby cuttlefish, three pasta dishes, rib steak, and some dessert, The burrata is so silky I have ever had. Baby cuttlefish is fresh and with wonderful flavour. Handmade pasta made perfectly and you can’t say anything, it’s not too soft nor hard, just good, excellent texture with beautiful flavour, delicious like Italian mama cooked. Can tell it’s all made from their heart. Staffs there are all attentive and friendly, we enjoyed our dinner very much, would definitely go back and recommend this hidden gem to our friends.
Be the first to ReplyJapanese Skate Wing (stingray’s fin)
The restaurant was just renovated. Weekend brunch includes several types of salad and a cold cut platter but no pasta nor hot dish. The white wine of the regular free flow is the best. The waiter recommended the seasonal hot dish - Japanese Skate Wing with Potato, Taggiasche Olive and Basil Bell Pepper. The chef has literally cooked it to perfection 👍🏼

food was great as usual we were there for brunch 2 adults and our daughter 10 years old they chargd 398 for her where as she doesn't drink alcohol or fizzy drinks. which we felt was a bit odd compared to several similar brunches. service was good and everyone was helpful.

Went for brunch on a Sunday. The arrangement is a bit strange for me: you pay HK$380 per person for starters, desert and free flowing wine and then HK$170-400+ a dish for a choice of pasta, meat and fish dishes. The quality of the food is excellent. Beautiful burrata, different cold cuts of ham and salami, a selection of excellent chicken, seafood and vegetarian salads and simply delicious home baked (or cleverly sourced) sourdough bread. We ordered two pasta dishes between two - a very tasty pappardelle ragout and a superb spaghetti "chittara" with truffle etc.. The tiramisu was the best I have ever had. The wine free flow was continuous and generous over two hours. The food transported me to simple restaurants in the Piedmont, roadside trattorias in Liguria and a simple canteen in the hills of Franciacorta in Lombardy where I have eaten the best Italian food in my life (for ten euros). In these places you eat what you are given and you wonder why you have never tasted food like it before. Lucale's food is at that standard in my opinion. We watched one of the chefs hand shaping pasta in front of us for hours, as if it was his relaxation therapy. However one thing detracts from the perfection. Overall there is too much cured meat with the starters, and there are too many salads (obviously and understandably to justify the "minimum price") and so the antipasti ends up being a too dominant part of the experience. Overall it is not cheap. This is Hong Kong and they have to have a viable business and I suppose they do this to secure a minimum charge. Overall with the wine etc. it is reasonably good value for money. But the classic formula of antipasti, pasta or risotto, meat or fish, desert, for a reasonable price is the gold standard with Italian food and to order all that from this menu could leave you with a big bill and struggling after a massive antipasti course. Next time I think one pasta dish between two and one meat/fish dish between two will be the best way to order. Despite this small criticism this is far from average food and average service as some have said (at least for our lunch anyway). It is in my opinion the real deal: authentic, fresh and unfussy classic Italian food prepared and served with love and care. This is actually quite hard to find in Hong Kong without paying through the nose..

I did not expect to be treated with such disrespectful service. We kept getting pushed to try the higher priced items and when we asked for a little more time we were met with an ungrateful expression from the co-founder, Luca. Is this how you want your namesake restaurant to be known by?
Be the first to ReplySome great food- albeit a rushed affair!
I had returned with good friends in September and struck a similar'deal" to that of August; namely that the pasta was excellent as were the opportunities to quaff Lambrusco. However, the ambience is not quite up to 'snuff' > One is hustled a bit and the "time is money. Hurry up" attitude from the owners a little too nakedly obvious. i truly believe that 'massaging' the patrons a bit more and adopting a 'catch more flies with honey than with vinegar' approach might serve this establishment better.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food, average service
I was quite excited to try this restaurant as a new Italian spot in SYP which is an upcoming neighborhood for small, innovative eats. You are better off going to Pici, to be honest. The food was average and the service was ok. They might have been short-staffed, but the staff just wasn't very friendly. We asked to change an item on our order about 15 mins into our order and our appetizers hadn't even come and they let us know we couldn't cancel the steak at that point because it was already cooking which made no sense. If we ask for a medium rare steak, why is it already on the grill before we even have our appetizers? Overall, it was an ok experience but expensive and not worth a second trip for me unfortunately.
Be the first to ReplyA good lively Italian restaurant in Hong Kong
This is a lively Italian restaurant, most of the customers are local foreigners. If u are looking casual italian restaurant with your hometown atmosphere, here it is. The italian t bone steak, Tiramisu and cheese platter are must order dish. Pasta is not bad but not the top( I tried sea urchin and tuna pasta - too salty and lack of layers and surprise elements , if the chef add some lemon juice, lemon skin, dills, pasley, little maple syrup and salmon fish roe or caviar, chop raw blue shrimp on top. It will be a much better dish. Another dish that I tried is Forie gras cooked with goose ravioli with truffle on top. This dish lacks of texture and taste. It can be better if the chef add some hams together with truffle on top and add chopped salami, few kinds of chopped mushrooms inside the ravioli and uncook red wine in the sauce. Steak tartar is good but not extraordinary. Service is ok and they charge 25 HKdollars if u want hot water.

I’d heard so many good reviews of LucAle and finally had the opportunity to go there tonight. Our meal didn’t start well. Like many restaurants in Hong Kong, there’re 2 seatings (18:00 to 20:00 and 20:00 to 22:00) for LucAle. Since the 20:00 seating would be too late for my friend, we booked 18:30 and would need to return the table by 20:00. We weren’t very hungry and only ordered a few things to share. Burrata of the Deliziosa brand with 24-month Parma ham was undoubtedly the best dish of the night. The burrata was silky and creamy without being too heavy and worthy of all the praise it’d received. However, the 2 dishes which followed were disappointing. Black and white tagliolini with seafood tasted rather bland though the texture of the pasta was good. While the menu said “red prawns”, there’s only a small piece of red prawn on the top of the dish. The portion of the seared ribeye which I took was alright but my friend said there’re so many veins in the meat of the portion he took. So only 1 dish out of 3 was good and it wasn’t even made by the restaurant. The seating was a bit cramped which was understandable. However, we’re seated in a room which was like an annex of the restaurant and it’s very noisy there. So, please ask for a table in the main dining room. I believe the noise level there would be more bearable. To conclude, it’s an underwhelming dining experience. I’ve no intention to return,
Be the first to ReplyAverage food i with worst service...
Dinner was booked for birthday celebration that night. We picked LucAle as we heard it’s good and is a nice place to visit, however it turned out super disappointing. Food was average, not outstanding with a wow. The service we received and how we were treated were definitely a “wow”. Staff was kind of rude and pushy while they were promoting their white truffle menu. There was an untold minimum charge to reach for our group and can totally feel the impatience while we were figuring out what’s more to order to meet the min. charge... At the end, we kindly asked someone to take a picture of us. Staff threw the bill at the table and said we needed to return table ASAP before she helped with the photo-taking. It could have been okay if they could inform us anything we needed to know in advance nicely. The worst dining experience ever for this year...
Be the first to ReplyRather mediocre experience
Rather mediocre experience on a Friday night.. Food was overall OK, appetisers (salmon and beef tartare) were better than the pastas (which were small for their prices). Bread basket was cold and not great. Restaurant looked kind of dowdy. The waitstaff didn’t look very happy and our server was pretty pushy about upselling the truffle menu/dessert/alcohol. We were in and out in less than 40 minutes, lol. Felt disappointed as we were expecting something better. Definitely not date night material. Surprised to see these many good reviews.
Be the first to ReplyGood food
Nice little restaurant - good food and nice service. Menu was simple but have enough to choose from. The burrato And pasta was impressive. Only set back was again the restaurant had 2 seatings.... other than that - it was overall quite good.
Be the first to ReplyA little gem
A beautiful restaurant and most importantly, the food was outstanding. Pasta dishes were the best we’ve had in a long while. Burrata was epic. Overall a great experience and a really nice buzzy atmosphere.
