I wanted to love this place but left incredibly disappointed. We went on a Thursday night and found parking behind the restaurant. Score. We ordered a lot of items to try and planned on taking some home to my husband. The sourdough and butter were delightful as was the chefs choice salami. The sous vide octopus was tougher than I would expect, but I enjoyed the flavor. Then the pastas... What should have been the highlight of the meal was the biggest disappointment. We ordered a browned butter pasta and the ragu Blanca. Both were severely over salted to the point we could hardly eat them. I considered asking to have them remade, or better yet, removed from our ticket but my dinner companion didn't want to complain. We took a large amount of leftover pasta home. I tried reheating it the next day after rinsing the sauce off, but there was no salvaging either. We had already ordered a fish entree which was just ok and ended up skipping out on dessert. My friend did order a fig infused old fashioned and that was quite nice. Overall though we won't be back.

Great ambiance, good food, and definitely good service. Will go back again for sure. It is a must go to restaurant, highly recommend it. Cleanliness and food presentation with a proper temperature.

We all felt the waitress tried to upswell us and was not happy that we didnโt order one of everything and didnโt order bottles of wine. She was just too invasive We also didnโt like that we were required to order everything at once. The bread and butter were amazing, the pasta was ok Just donโt understand the hype.

My husband & I recently were able to obtain a reservation for an early dinner at Lucia. We were seated at the bar, which was fine. You can easily observe the kitchen & bar staff diligently & professionally creating all the delicious dishes that were soon to arrive on everyone's plates. As soon as you are seated in the small but warm & lovely restaurant, the feeling of mouthwatering anticipation washes over you. The level of the staff's professionalism & high competency is apparent from the start. They take your drink orders & bring you a warm, savory dish of gourmet olives. Our server explained the menu & then took our entire order up front, except for dessert. The timing of serving the different courses was perfect. We started with the red wattle spec, similar to a proscuito & a crostodo with a delicious topping. Next came a farro grain & mushroom secondi dish that was delicious, as well as a wonderful ravioli dish. Finally we ended the meal with a seared cod over some type of red lentil like beans in a savory sauce. we were just in awe of the superb level of skill & creativity of the dishes served to us. Chef David was there overseeing all of his staff. Dallas is lucky to have a chef of such amazing skill & perfectionism. Yes, it's hard to get a reservation here. You have to try their website a lot, but it is so worth it, especially if you are foodies & admirers of this truly stellar type chef driven restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyAn expensive grease fest
For all the hype and how difficult it is to get into this restaurant once tried, you understand, it is small and not necessarily about the food. An off-putting smell like a cauldron of melting beef tallow greeted us. Little did we know grease would be the connecting thread throughout the meal. To start, the stuffed prunes coated our mouths with a greasy fat used to whip the Foie gras into a mousse. The plate of cured beef tongue with sun chokes and celery root was bland, chewy with the thickly cut vegetables in a state between par-cooked and raw, mostly raw. The risotto was perfectly cooked, the beef cheeks divine, but the giant brontosaurs-sized bone with roasted marrow only added more grease to a dish clearly finished with butter. An undercooked cavatelli ate more like a heavy, lump of gnocchi covered in a grainy cheese sauce. The chewy, bitter greens had no place in the dish. We noted the service was off and not because the server placed our flatware backward. When he asked if we were hungry, the obvious answer was โDo we look hungryโ? Maybe we had chewed through the antipasti too fast, or he mistook the disheartened look on our faces. Hell, what did he care, he could have spit in the food or slapped us and would still get the mandatory tip they include on the bill. In final, the Berkshire pork three ways had a nice smoke flavor for the loin after cutting around the fat and gristle. Armed with a toothless butter knife I had to fight to cut the tough cabbage-wrapped pulled pork into bites as well as the rib. A sausage with the texture of loose and greasy spam and seasoned with enough coriander to make a lady spit finalized the meal. Later at home, even our dog who eats everything spat the sausage out. At no point did they offer the homemade bread boasted about on highly publicized reviews.

We enjoyed our meal at Lucia very much. The antipasti was excellent and extremely fresh. The prima was excellent as well. The portions are extremely generous and served family style for possible sharing. The service was beyond excellent. An excellent meal.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced food, average atmosphere.
After a family member raved about this place and how hard it is to get a reservation. We decided to go and see what she was raving about. To start, if you are a foodie and have no concept of money, you may like this place. Even then the food falls flat. We had three different pasta meals and we shared. None of them are worth discussion, but here is a synopsos. The beef was served on a significant amount of oil. The rabbit dish was pasta and very little rabbit. The oysters are served with a sliver of grapefruit. Interesting is the only way to describe any of the food. Not good, but interesting. Throw in a bottle of wine and you are now $250 for three folks. Just not good, wish them the best, but not worth the price of admission.

got very lucky and we got reservations of the past week. The food was absolutely wonderful. The antipasti Salumi filled a wooden platter with a meaty goodness and the pastas perfected coated with deep sensual sauses.
Be the first to ReplyBetter 2nd time round!!
I visited In February without reservations, we arrived a bit too late and couldnโt get seated at the bar area Immediately, so we were told pop back a bit later and suggested we visited their local restaurant around the corner. When we returned our appetite was gone but ate anyway so the experience did not match the hype.... Second time round the experience was much better... booked well in advance and arrived hungry... I would not recommend the octopus as was not as flavorful as when itโs grilled also Iโve had better charcuterie boards... try the prune with foie grass that was unique.. Ravioli, tagliatelle with chocolate, and linguine was among the best pasta Iโve enjoyed.. The pork belly was ok... but my wife thought amazing so not sure if I just got a bad one. Overall a good/better experience and will be going back again.. and I will be sticking with the pasta..but as it takes so long to get a reservation I guess that will be in 2020! :/
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, but very noisy
This is a hard place to get into, reservations must be made well in advance or you may have to be on the wait list but persistence paid off. The venue is very small and worth the pain to get a reservation. Food was excellent and authentic. Portions were generous and not over priced. The only negative I would have is that the night we were there it was very noisy making conversation a bit of a struggle. That said, the food was excellent.
