We were so happy and delighted to be able to celebrate our anniversary at Maialino's. However, we are sorry that it is going to close due to "untenable" circumstances. The staff is welcoming, professional and very attentive. The dinner was delicious from appetizer to dessert! We wish Mr. Meyer and his entire staff all the best and continued success!
Be the first to ReplyWent to try Maialino for Restaurant Week.
Their Vitello Tonnato was perfect (5/5) and goes amazing with their bread. There was also a nice crunch from the capers add variety to the texture. The swordfish was done well (a little on the small side) with a very acidic sauce. Personally, not a big fan of the tangy sauce, but won't fault the dish for anything other than size (4/5). Olive oil cake was standard. Slightly chewy and had a nice mouth feel, no complaints there.

Cornelius was an incredible server with a ton of knowledge and so hospitable. I was shocked to learn it was his first day live! The food was outstanding as always. I loved seeing classics like the fegato and fresh dishes like the corn and sundried tomato ravioli. I look forward to returning one day!
Be the first to ReplyAmazing team, true to the concept.
i visit frequently... a couple of requests - food is excellent, but overall tends to be a bit too salty. The menu is great, but as a frequent diner, would love more additions / seasonal changes. The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly,. Lighting is a bit too dim and dismal... would add a lot of energy to the ambience if it can be improved. Always love dining there regardless!

Maialino is the best dames restaurant in Manhattan and the entire team is first class. We love Corey and Cameron (as well as everybody else).
Be the first to ReplyHas a big reputation, but was a huge disappointment.
First the staff were lovely, absolutely no complaints about them. There was a mistake in the orders and they let us have a pasta on the house. The food was the problem. The vitello tonnato was very good and one of my companions liked the pig's head, but things went downhill from there. I know I am more sensitive to salt than most people, but my two companions have no problem with salt and we all agreed that most of the dishes that we had were too salty. The rigatoni carbonara was not like any carbonara I have had in Rome, it was over sauced and too salty. The signature dish, the Maialino, had so much salt that we did not even eat most of it and took it home [not sure what we are going to do with it]. It also was swimming in gravy/broth which was unpleasant and made the rosemary potatoes mushy. The chicory only tasted of salt and was tiny.

The service was amazing from the moment we were greeted at the front desk. The food presentation and taste were great and the menu had very inventive dishes. The ambiance was fabulous and I felt like I was in Italy. Our server was incredible. A perfect dining experience
Be the first to ReplyNegroni was great and started us off swell.
Vitello tonnato superb! Pastas great though oddly the malfatti was overshadowed by the cacio e Pepe and the pistachio pesto special. Great chicory and asparagus. Loved the olive oil cake (which I make at home) and the tiramisu. Ambiance was like the food -exquisite without being previous. and and wine choice by sommelier also top .

Food was great, had the Fegato, Cacio Pepe and Vongole. Pasta was prepared and seasoned perfectly!

Sam and Shannon are the best thing to happen to this restaurant since semolina flour. I hope to visit new york and have the opportunity to see their bright and shining faces again some day! This a nyc gem and your people are your greatest asset. Would highly recommend to my foodie Friends!

First time at the revamped Maialino and the food is as fantastic as always! Tough reservation, so plan ahead. They also have an adjacent wine bar that looked like mostly walk-ins.I tried:+ Burrata + Insalata - highlight #1, the breadcrumbs on top were so crunchy and delicious + Cacio e pepe tonnarelli+ Rigatoni Al ragu - highlight #2, beat out the cacio e pepe for me+ Spinach+ They also sent us a side of beans on the house that were super delicious - would have never thought to order them+ Olive oil cake - highlight #3, perfect specimen of an olive oil cake which can often be dry or flavorlessNeedless to say I will be back!
Be the first to ReplyMaialino, a Roman-Italian restaurant in Gramercy Park
Maialino, a Roman-Italian restaurant in Gramercy Park Manhattan. Casual yet elegant setting. Amazing service and intimate vibe. How was it?: I had "The Godfather" cocktail. It's a good twist on an "Old Fashion"; bitter, strong, and sweet. Now the English translation for "Maialino" is "little pig". Therefore, I had the "Maialino al forno", which is rosemary potatoes with roasted suckling pig. This was way better than I expected! If you love pernil like I do, you will definitely enjoy this
Be the first to ReplyWe were at Maialino for a light early dinner at the bar.
We both had the spaghettini alle vongole. It was cooked perfectly - served hot, silky and just slightly al dente. The tiny clams were all open, meaty, and intensely tasty. The combination was deliciously satisfying - about as good a version of the dish as we've had anywhere. To drink with it, we both had the Ananas prosecco. It was fresh and cold, served in universal Gabriel Glas goblets. The prosecco had fine bubbles and was deliciously dry. It made fir a great pairing. We were advised to share our order of maialino al forno with rosemary potatoes. It was as good as we remembered this dish at the original Maialino: satisfyingly crunchy skin covering moistly tender and delicious meat. Succulent suckling pig. My wife had another glass of the Ananas. I switched the Serralunga d'Alba Barolo, served in the same type of glass. It had clean aroma, good weight balance and flavor. The manager was helpful, the bar staff knowledgeable and helpful, and the service snd timing very good. There is plenty more to choose from on their excellent menus. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyA pleasant space with white tablecloths and good service
A pleasant space with white tablecloths and good service (although after we were seated, it took 5 minFor someone to come over with a menu). The music was contemporary boom boom, soIt added nothing to the atmosphere of eating in an Italian restaurant. Wine by the glass, $16, was just ok. The burrata appetizer with butternut squash was good. ThePastas were good but not outstanding. The problem for us was that there were not enough Choices. The menu is quite limited. So between the lack of ambiance, and few choices of food,We won't be returning.
Be the first to ReplyWe love the new location of Maialino.
Food is excellent and the sommelier is fantastic.
Be the first to ReplyMy husband received a gift card for Christmas for Union
My husband received a gift card for Christmas for Union Square Hospitality Group and I suggested visiting Maialino because it had just opened up in our neighborhood. It was a little difficult to get a reservation and I had to book a few weeks in advance to get a table on a Wednesday night. We ordered the buratta, malfatti and bucatini. The buratta was the best thing we ordered... I didn't enjoy our pastas very much as they had a very distinctive taste. I felt this was strange because I had ordered one of the same sauces from Maialino's Goldbelly shop in 2020 and enjoyed it. I had high hopes for Maialino being my favorite neighborhood Italian but I'm afraid I won't be back based on our experience.

Vini e Fritti was one of our favorite places, so we were excited to be back in the space for dinner at Maialino. We started with the burrata and radicchio salad. Both were quite good. The burrata had nice textural contrast with the pistachio. We then had the cacio e pepe and swordfish. Both were well prepared, though the cacio e pepe was more peppery than most versions. Would come back as the menu changes.

One of our favorite Italian experiences in all of nyc and in an awesome location (right off of grammar park), within a hotel with a great cocktail lounge (rose bar) directly across the lobby. You really can't miss here in terms of menu selections, but the pastas are exceptional and always nicely al dente. The classic Bolognese is one of the best, most authentic in nyc, and the sprint pea pasta (seasonal) is fantastic. If you are coming to nyc and want a great Italian experience, this belongs on your short list.
Be the first to ReplyWe love this place.
Whether it is for brunch, lunch or dinner, Maialino consistently delivers flavor, quality and great service. For brunch, you can never go wrong with the porchetta sandwich (yum), lunch... Carbonara! They follow the classic recipe, no cream/panna. Go give them a try!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food at great price.
Loved the fact that tip was included. The pasta was very good and the fish was on point. I'll be back next time I'll be in nyc for sure.
Be the first to ReplyNice trattoria at Gramercy Park Hotel.
Have only ever been there for brunch which is fabulous. Their homemade pastries are wonderful, get the Pastry Basket. We loved the Burrata, Frittata Bianca and Cotechino. All their pasta is homemade and delicious. The side of bacon was excellent. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Highly recommend.
