It was a great August day 2020
great restaurant show experience, really nice waiters, great food and bomb drinks, the mai tai's there taste just as great as a mai tai in moloka'i. loved the shows and the reenactment of Waikiki's history. love this place, best Hawaiian food in all of fort Lauderdale. will go back again, for sure. great place for children or date night.

What more could a nostalgic wistful sarong dress wearing wahini ask for than an authentically retro-tastic Polynesian restaurant complete with show. Perfect place to end your weeki-tiki getting lei’d in the Molokai lounge. Level up by spending ohana gatherings having dinner together and avoid awkward intrusive family conversations because of the drum beating and fire twirling Polynesian show occurring nightly in the main dining room. Grab your coconuts, wrap that skirted grass around your a$$ and get to the Mai-Kai! While we wait for the drums of rum to once again roll into Mai-Kai support the legacy of Mai-Kai by following their reopening efforts on social media and start planning your future visit.

Well couldn't get to Hawaii this year, so we brought it to us. Absolutely FANTASTIC!
The food selection is well worth the trip, not to mention the show.
Excellent show and food!!!
Excellent show and food!!! The atmosphere was incredible! Very relaxing. The waiter was very attentive and exceeded our expectations. The entertainment was very good. Visited 10 yrs ago on our last visit also. Definitely will be back again.
Be the first to Replyfabulous Polynesian show is the only good thing
the whole place is very-VERY DARK., even in the rest rooms- probably to hide all the dust and dirt. Food that we ordered did not look pretty, sort of just put on the plate. the drinks are costly $12 +++++ each. Tough filet mignon in a never seen before teriyaki like sauce. The waiter, serving another table, dropped a large glass of cola=splashing us all on our legs and shoes. We were told that men needed to wear long pants- but most were in shorts. Making my male friend not happy. I wore a lovely sun dress, when some wore exercise wear. The show is good, on a small stage, but excellent dancers and music. Mai kai really needs to wash the place- and retrain wait staff- who never told us that there were "specials"

Great ambiance, beautiful decor, amazing outside garden. Everything is very well maintained and cared for. The food comes in big portions accompanying rice. Dinner and a show are great. Also, wide variety of cocktails. Great experience overall.

Mai Kai is a legend that still delivers. Best Happy Hour in South Florida with a delicious menu and all Umbrella drinks at 50% off cannot be beaten. 50% off everything! Large plump shrimp cocktail at a buck apiece were cold and delicious. The atmosphere is as original as the day it opened and still authentic though over 60 years old. It breathes history. Happy and friendly servers in Polynesian costumes make it a very unique experience to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. Quit analyzing and second-guessing and just go! You'll love it and thank me for it.

While visiting Fort Lauderdale we made plans to visit the Mai-Kai restaurant. My wife had gone there as a child and loved the food, atmosphere and show.
I called for reservation when we arrived and found that there were dinner times available but no show openings. So, we went for dinner the first night and made a second reservation for later in the week for dinner and a show. The menu had a large variety of Asian options all very good. They also have daily specials.
The show is a
Polanisian Review. Men and Women Hola dancers, very talented performers. They have a live band that played polanisian themed music. Dinner and the show took about two hours.
We would definitely return for another dinner and show.
Birthday fun
My daughter picked this place for her birthday dinner with family. It was a great choice. I can't believe that as long as I'm living in Florida, 30 years, I've never been to this historical Fort Lauderdale tourist spot. I'm so glad I finally made it. The let us bring our own cake for the Birthday celebration, but the show was what made it the most fun. The, by the way, was very good. We ordered off the showtime pkg menu, but there are more interesting choices on the menu as well. It's a little on the expensive side but not over the top. If you order their Polynesian drinks, your bill will be very high!! Give it a try, it's a place you're going to have fun. If you live near Fort Lauderdale, you got to go at least once.
