Graduation celebration
Visited last night to celebrate my daughters graduation. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The food was very good too. The little touches in recognition of the graduation were really appreciated, balloon, table confetti and a dessert plate. Fantastic will definitely be back
Be the first to Replysunday lunch
Had the best Sunday lunch ever in a restaurant. Food was perfect with Yorkshire puddings to die for. Service was excellent. Will go again.
Be the first to ReplyLovely Sunday dinner
Had a really nice Sunday dinner at Marco Pierre whites. Very good service and very nice Sunday roast. Probably the nicest I have had for a while. Will definitely return and Recommend it to everyone.
Be the first to ReplyNot good
Just been tonight for a meal with my husband. Our table was booked for 5.15 so not many people in. The man who served us was lovely and could not have done his job any better
We both ha d steak, i had fillet which is usually very soft and just melts in your mouth tonight it was so chewy and tasteless , my husband had ribeye again a very dry steak, withvery little taste. We had asked for them to be cooked medium but they were both very over cooked.
We were asked at the time if everything was alright be didn’t really have time to make a fuss and be told we ll make you another.
Tonight I would not recommend this restaurant
18th Birthday Celebrations
Yet another excellent evening at this fabulous Restaurant, celebrating my sons 18th. Classy but not pretentious and reasonably priced, amazing food, but it is the service that is always outstanding. A big shout out to Megan who was an absolute star. Will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplySuper food, terrible city!
After a rough couple of years of cancer therapy and shielding from the pandemic, it was great to be able to venture out again. We decided to try the Marco Pierre White steakhouse in Nottingham. Booked by phone, couldn't fault the process, managed to get a table with 48 hours notice, for a Saturday night, even though the restaurant was busy (we discovered when we got there that every table was booked, and they were looking after a bridal shower).
Service was efficient and extremely polite, and the food was excellent although the menu is a little limited. Still it's better to cook a few things well than to try to ruin a larger range.
I thought that a quality meal for 2, including drinks and service at less than £70 was good value, some chain pubs would be similar cost without the kudos.
The only disappointment was Nottingham. The meal was disturbed by a bouncer in the casino having to eject 2 drunks and a violent fracas in the foyer. When we left the restaurant we were confronted by 2 men urinating at the back of the Royal Concert Hall, and we had to take a detour to get back to the car because the police were dealing with an incident in another bar, which had to be closed. All this before 8pm! Goodness knows what is was like later!
So, will we go back? Absolutely. Just not on a Saturday night
Not what we expected
My wife and I tend to keep MPW's for special occasions as in the past we have never had a bad meal there, however on this occasion, our wedding anniversary on the 2nd September I wish we had not bothered.
We arrived at the restaurant, to be warmly greeted and shown to our table and was served bread and olives, we then proceeded to order some drinks and ordered our meal, my wife had the chicken in a mushroom sauce and I had the Mr. White's steak and ale pie with a portion of onion rings, the meals duly arrived and to say I was disappointed was an understatement, my pie was in a shollow dish, the same type as the onion rings were served in, with a flat pastry crust planted on top, once the pastry crust was broken the meat content in the pie was minimal, with hindsight I should have returned the meal but as it was our wedding anniversary did not want to spoil the occasion.I did however report my discontent to the maitre'd who really did not take the complaint on board.
We have in the past had some tremendous meals here and actually met the man himself but I'm sure he would not be happy with a meal like this being served under his name.
Nice meal and atmosphere
Came here for an anniversary. The look of the place is amazing and received a warm welcome by FOH.
The tables are a touch to close for my liking but they did offer us a couple of alternatives.
Calarmari starter was very tasty and a good portion.
The steak selection wasnt amazing but the food was great, great seasoned steak and tasty sauces, hot crispy fries. We also had the onion rings.
Food was priced about right for being in town in a casino, drinks were horrensously over priced. £11 for a PSM.
Dessert was a bit of a let down, soggy bread and butter pudding, and a supermarket cheesecake.
Service was good and they left you alone.
They gave us an "anniversary" taster plate which was a nice gesture.
Had a good night overall, but nothing memeorable.
Nothing to do with Marco
Firstly, trying to find this place.
The address on their website and on Google is correct. Wollaton street opposite the Crown Plaza. Unfortunately, if you ask Google Maps, it puts a pin in next to the entrance to the Corner House where Langtry's pub is. Don't go there.
As for the restaurant itself...
The staff did their best and were all excellent.
The steak I had was also excellent.
Unfortunately, that's where the good things ended...
They 'bother' you.
I booked online. I got an email asking me to confirm my booking - I did. Then I got a phonecall asking me to confirm my booking - I did.
The phone call even asked if it was a special occaision. I told them that it wasn't, but we got a 'Habby Anniersery' sweet treat at the end of the meal anyway! Yes, that's how they spelt it - see photo.
It's supposed to be a steak restaurant specialising in steaks.
There were three steaks on offer - or you could have one of their 'signature' steaks - which were all their smallest 6oz steak with different sauces.
No t-bone. No tomahawk. Very disappointing indeed.
Finally, there were the chips...
Formally frozen oven chips! And they were disgusting!
It has been confirmed to us that Marco does not own the restaurant and it has in fact changed hands a couple of time since he did. His name is still on it as a brand thing.
Unfortunately, if they aren't listening to him on something as basic as serving frozen chips in a supposedly upmarket restaurant, then it's just another restaurant and his name on it means nothing.
If you want something upmarket, this is a place that cuts corners rather than tries to excel. Go somewhere else.
Fabulous…..again
Me and my friend had our monthly visit to Marco Pierre Whites for Sunday lunch yesterday. In our opinion it is the best Sunday lunch you can get for the price of £12.95. I don’t know how the chef creates the flavours on the plate but it is fabulous. This, coupled with the absolutely fantastic quality of the service we receive, the pleasantness of the staff and the restaurant atmosphere makes us return month after month. Well done to you all, a team to be proud of Marco!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing is an understatement!
The moment we walked in it felt we were going to have good food and great service but how wrong could I be!
The service was not bad, but the staff could not answer basic questions about the menu. Accepting that we ordered drinks which the cocktails were excellent the knowledge regarding the wine was terrible from the staff .
The menu was surprisingly basic but what was to be served was nothing less than basic and awful
The starters was supposed to be appetising sadly not the case, three starters orders and nil hit the mark, luke warm at best and not at all tasty presentation was ok but not what you’d expect from a restaurant with a name suggesting excellence!
The main course was steak, not much option in alternatives but what arrived was shocking to say the least ! The steak itself for the price was small by any standard however cooked very nice and no complaints at all, the accompanying potatoes etc was the biggest shock of all !!! FROZEN everything was frozen ! How can a chef of MPW reputation serve frozen chips ? I asked for a side salad and had to ask then what to put in it, they originally sent some leaves with dressing ! Come on guys ! That’s not a salad by any stretch and the dressing was poor shop bought ! Needless to say that was the biggest disappointment of the evening . Marco Pierre White serves frozen food at a premium price !
Desert ! Well here come another disappointment. I asked the waitress if the deserts were made by the chef and was told absolutely yes ! So as I have a sweet tooth I thought go for it ! Apple crumble was order and nothing short of mediocre but what really annoyed me was I ordered chocolate mouse which should be light fluffy and tasty
What came was best described as a brick in a glass !
So thick and heavy you needed and knife to cut it !
So bearing in mind a special occasion, we had a good time but the food was so bad it’s taken me all this time to write a review.
If this should get back to MPW I’d be ashamed of myself putting my renound name to this kind of food !
My advice to anyone thinking of going ? DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY
So many more options available with better service quality and value for money
Personally I don’t mind what I pay for excellence but I totally object to paying to what’s basically rubbish food, I can think of many places who are better less expensive and the service is excellent.
A splendid return
We've been waiting to go back to MPW'S since before the last lockdown. It was worth the wait! Lovely, friendly waiting staff, fantastic food and good prices. Highly recommended. The cocktails are particularly nice.

We have just had our first social works get together. We were given the private dining area. Food was lovely service was excellent. Staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. I would visit again if we came to Nottingham.
