Service was excellent. The level of noise to a point that we wonโt be back. Steaks (one petite filet and one bone in filet) very average. Two of us had rack of lamb, really really good. A full rack each (8-ribs) that required take home. A real mixed bag review here but at the prices they charge we all expected more.
Be the first to ReplyExtremely Expensive and Very Loud
We found the experience to be over rated. The dining room was so loud you could barely hear each other talk. We have no problem paying $50 -$60 or even $70 for a prime steak, but other items were very expensive. Large Shrimp at $35 each!!! And to charge $45 for crab rice side is outrageous! Not to mention the high charge for all sides. And $5 for bread...Seriously, at the prices Mastro's charges for drinks, sides, etc., to add a $5 for bread was more like slap to the face at an already overpriced menu! We will be back, Nope! We will take our business to Morton's, Mitch's, Walley's, Ruth Chris, etc. as the atmosphere and the noise level far exceed what we experienced at Mastro's!

We dinned at mastros in indian wells on 1/26, party of three 7pm reservation.. .We ordered a bottle of wine which took longer than typical to arrive. Waiter finally came back to take our order. Onion soup and 1/2 wedge salad came out. The salad was finly chopped, served on a small bread plate with no dressing or bacon. Waiter never came back to check on our table so had to flag down a bus boy to ask for dressing and bacon. Took a long time but finally got dressing no bacon. We waited for dinner to arrive all the time wondering why to two tables seated long after us received their meals? Our Meals Finally arrive, one filet ordered medium was served very raw as if it hadnโt touched any flame , the scalloped potatoes had no taste and were gritty like flour was not mixed. In all the way . The second 1/2 wedge salad was better, served in a bowl( not a small plate) with bacon but with no dressing. Still the waiter never asked us how things were. Other servers brought the food not the waiter. He never checked on anything. We asked someone elseโs waiter to find our waiter. Our Waiter finally came and we told him the steak was way under cooked. He took one of our forks then stabbed the steak grabbed a bread plate from our table and put the stabbed steak in it and left. No apology or comment. Before that happened we also told him the wedge salad again had no dressing, he challenged the comment and made us prove and show him there was no dressing. Again no apology. At that time we told him the first salad was horrible, it was finally chopped( not a wedge) no bacon or dressing. He left the table. No apologies . As we waited, we had no water and our wine glasses were empty. We tried to flag a bus boy down again. The first one walked past and gave Betsy a slap on the hand she was holding up to flag him and kept walking - as if we were giving him a high five- very unprofessional. finally we got a bus boy to stop and we requested water and another bottle of wine. Waiter came back 15 minutes later with again an undercooked Steak. It was charred on the outside and still raw inside and wine still had not arrived. We ended up sharing the other persons filet we had ordered that was cooked right. Our Waiter finally came with the bottle of wine 20 minutes after asked for it and we told him donโt open, we are done with our meals. he seemed annoyed with us. Again no apologies. He asked about the under cooked steak, we told him it still was not cooked properly, he said he could take it back again and we said no, too late we are done. We noticed other tables who had arrived after us had already eaten paid and left and we were still waiting. We then asked to speak to the manager. Stephanie the manager came to the table, we explained our experience and disappointments. She offered to take the items off our bill acted all concern and wanted to buy us a cocktail for our troubles but we were done eating , so we said no thank you. She then suggested dessert raving about their โworld famous butter cakeโ and a piece of chocolate flourless cake. We said fine, we will try those and she said great Iโll get those over to you right away. We waited another 15 minutes no cakes. We asked waiter for our check and after we paid, still no cakes. Again no apologies. We waited a little longer and finally left disgusted. We heard such great things about Meastroโs and were looking forward to dining there while in Palm Desert since 2 of us had never been to a Mastroโs however, ended up being a complete disappointment!

I have had "Butter Cake" before....but this was a masterpiece of buttery heaven! This dessert was topped with vanilla ice cream and a yummy caramel drizzle and fresh fruit with a side of fresh whipped cream. It took me somewhere I've never been. The live music and attentive service was wonderful as well. Can't wait to visit again.
Be the first to ReplyThe total experience is not worth the trip.
The prices are too high for the experience. The parking is difficult unless you valet. The food is average. The restaurant is too dark. The dress code is too restrictive for the desert.

In November 2021 my wife and I made our first trip to Mastro's in Palm Desert. We were there as friends gave a wonderful gift certificate for our anniversary. My review was negative to say the least. A very poor seat near a very noisy, busy bar in a dimly lighted room. Service was very good; steak was very poorly cooked, well done instead of medium rare, sides mediocre at best. I made no complaint, just was not in the mood. Well on 8/20/23 we returned, against my better judgment, with the friends who gave the anniversary present. COULD HAVE NOT BEEN MORE DIFFERENT. Same very good service, a much different and better seating away from the same noisy bar and the steak was EXCELLENT! Cooked as ordered, very flavorful. Based on the second experience someone made some adjustments as I will be back and not against my better judgment.

Went for our 58th anniversary as we did on our 50th and everything was great. Our server Matt M was friendly and fun. We shared an 8 oz filet and our cousins shared a 16 oz NY strip steak. Two shared salads and 4 shared sides. The scalloped potatoes were buttery and rich, the broccolini was made perfect, the mushroom gnocchi was very good but enough as a main course as we only ate half, and the mushrooms were great. They have live music in one of the rooms which we could hear in the space we were in and a lot of people, tvs and noise in two other bar type areas. We were in a quieter space which we preferred as when you get older it's hard to hear your companions across a table! Two bottles of PG white wine and total bill was $351.00. ๐ณBe aware that when offering you a choice of butters for your steaks the truffle butter was an added $15.00 which we didn't realize that any butter other than clarified butter or any sauce incurred an additional charge. Will return for our 60th perhaps?๐

What a wonderful dinner and evening at Mastro's! My husband and I chose to have dinner here based on various recommendations, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was nice and welcoming for an elegant date night while in the Palm Springs area. Kevin, our waiter was personable, friendly, and attentive. Dinner was really good. Ceasars salad, lamb, filet with lobster-- all great! We had the warm butter cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. IT WAS AMAZING! I usually do not order anything that is not chocolate, but be advised that this is well worth ordering. We split the dessert, and there was still more than 2 of us could eat! I highly recommend for a special night/date night out. The whole team was wonderful. Thank you for a special night! Absolutely would visit again and again!

A special evening celebration of a dear friend turning 60. Very upbeat venue. Wonderful entertainment and still able to carry on a table conversation. Very see and be seen atmosphere. Nice breads, excellent onion soup, loved the pork chop, potato and brussels sprout add-ons were a bit ho-hum, fabulous butter cake. Everyone loved their beef entrees prepared to perfection. Professional service. Nice for a change. A night to remember, including the tab. Maybe I can afford to go back again in about 6 months. LOL! You won't regret.
