Some of the best vegan dishes I’ve ever eaten. Did not miss the meat. Brussels Mushroom tacos were way beyond my expectations. Incredible flavors. Green plant bowl also did not disappoint.

We often try to find vegetarian or vegan restaurants while traveling. Mesa Verde is one of the best we've found. The star was the Squash Blossom Quesadilla - very tasty and filling, too. The Mediterranean Bowl was good - but not as good as the quesadilla. Also loved the Triple-Fried Belgian Potatoes. It has a good wine list and we were able to find one of our favorites, which is not often available. It's a basic place, with lots of plants in front. The best atmosphere is on the covered patio, or in one of the indoor tables that overlook the patio.

Empanadas! Oh my, so delicious! When visiting Santa Barbara, we are dinner here twice! Polenta fries, street tacos & Baklava, amazing, fresh tasting ingredients.
Be the first to ReplyI Designed this Place originally. Owners still owe me $5,000.
Vegans love this place, but as per the Food overall,it is very meiochre. I got some FOOD to go a few weeks back. Of course no one their would know I actually Designed the Place originally for the owners, AND I even NAMED the Place. The present owners can not even TELL YOU where the name comes from. I can. I also was the Original Chef who created the Wine Cask Restaurant in '81 as its first Chef. THESE owners missed out on ACTUALLY having great food they were so cheap. SORRY! BUT all true. Ask Steve, of the now Closed SB Brewing Comnpany. I saved them, and gave them another 7-8 years longer open. p.s. MESA VERDE name came from being on the MESA, and wanting to have an already Famous Name people would INSTANTLY recognize...so from my days visiting there, I Used the Name of the Anasazi Cliff dwellings, MESA VERDE as the name. Still waiting for my $5,000, from 1 year from before they opened.

UNDERWHELMED!!!! Too many potatoes in the Tuscan soup, Belgium potatoes undercook as was the mushroom burger as well as tasteless. Don't waste your time or money!

Best vegetarian food you can find in Santa Barbara - it’s a bit far from the city center but definitely worth it! Food is very tasty and portions are very well sized!

We visited on vacation and we were so excited to find a plant based restaurant since we are vegans x12 years. Unfortunately the 4 dishes we got were mostly nothing like described on the menu. There was no cashew cheese( which the dish really needed). There was no “butternut nacho cheese” on the empanada. The polenta fries were so well done but the dish was served with white beans, olives and squash not black beans, carrots ect… it was super disappointing specially since we spent close to $100 on 4 dishes. It did not hit the marks for us this time but has potential.

My wife is vegetarian, I'm not. I loved this restaurant just as much as she did. The menu is large and varied, everything we had was delicious. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and attentive. Even though the place is basically in a strip mall, they've designed the patio so that it's very shielded from the parking lot, and you feel quite private. It's a few miles from town, so you need to drive or take an Uber, but well worth the trip.

I would describe the décor of the Mesa Verde Restaurant as vintage "Taco Bell". The décor is the only part of the experience that is ordinary. The server who greeted us was attentive and friendly. The food was innovative and flavorful. I ordered the Fried Mushroom Sandwich. The oyster mushrooms were crispy and the flavors bold. The beet ketchup was beautiful and the best ketchup I have tasted. I am looking forward to returning and try their Umami burger.
Be the first to ReplyMeh ... Terribly Over rated!!
Went with my partner for a birthday dinner. Midweek. Seated in the back (it was a chilly night outside) indoors. Stark and ugly. Concrete floors. Poor lighting (single bulb overhead) and extension cords and kitchen trash bucket in plain view. Unbelievable. Amiable server. But that's about it. My partner had the Mushroom Umami burger. Ill conceived concoction with flavors that did not mesh. The beet "ketchup" was good though on the decent fries. I had the Picadillo Empanadas. If you're thinking of ordering this, DON'T. Essentially beans and a pair of crisp shells all for a mere $24. There may well be better options on the menu than our pair of choices (which, of course, the waiter enthusiastically endorsed), but the over all impression that we were left with was - awful, uninspired atmosphere (talk about going cheap in the design of the restaurant) coupled with, at best, uninspired vegetarian fare. You can do better than this place.
