Deserves Its Michelin Award
Ming Dynasty is one of Sacramento's best restaurants, as the Michelin folks finally recognized.
The food is outstanding, the service is excellent and tasty dim sum is available all day. The regular menu is full of authentic Chinese cuisine and the seafood selections are swimming in tanks waiting for your order. One must usually travel to San Francisco to find this quality of Chinese food. You will enjoy the experience and want to return.
Best In Sacramento!
This is another place I found on Uber Eats. I noticed they offer Dim Sum, but I would like to dine in for those items.
I ordered the Beef Broccoli, spicy, with a side order of Lotus Leaf Sticky Rice. The beef was as tender as one could hope for, the broccoli fresh, the sauce made the entree. Very nice!
I have not had sticky rice in a long time. Ming's is outstanding! The order came as two packets of rice in the lotus leaves. Nice presentation for delivery food.
I did order their Kung Pao Chicken to eat on the flight back to the east coast tomorrow. It looks delicious too and smells spicy, which I like!
I will order from here again, if even for the sticky rice only!
Michelin Bib Gourmand Dim Sum
Michelin bib gourmand all-day dim sum eatery. Stopped by on the way down from Lake Tahoe back to LA on a Sunday, and left with happy tummies. There was a short wait (write your name and party size on the paper by the hostess stand) for indoor dining (no outdoor dining available). Takeout is also available. Free parking is available in the back of the building and in the alley. Credit cards are accepted. Bathrooms are available in the back right and side of the restaurant. They have tea service ($1/person).
Food-wise, everything was on point. We got ~11 dishes for four people and still a couple of dishes leftover. To summarize each dish:
- The siu mai was super moist and piping hot - we ordered four.
- The har gao had juicy shrimp but the skin was a tad thick
- The green tea mochi was super chewy and I loved the filling
- The BBQ pork bun was large and pillowy, but had a small portion of meat
- The fried shrimp dumpling was a bit cold but still good; it came with a sweet pink sauce
- Similar to the above, the shrimp and scallop dumpling was cold but had a good amount of stuffing
- The spareribs were soft and juicy; my mom really liked them
- The custard buns come with a lot of custard filling and are just the right amount of sweetness
They have cart service so you can easily eat a variety to your heart’s content. They had several tables good for large parties (8 people or so). Overall, it’s a delicious restaurant that truly merits a Michelin distinction.
I would have never thought the Ming Dynasty would return during my life time...
I noticed a lot of Asian restaurants have a lot of things on the menu. If there was 1 thing I liked, I would go back. This place has several things I like during their Dim Sum service. Service here is better than average. Parking can be a pain sometimes though.
They currently serve a limited menu.
Asian food
I had the shrimp appetizer and an egg dish that were very good. Service was good and quick. The atmosphere is very nice.

We tried this place for lunch for the first time last week. We couldn't understand the servers and they couldn't understand us. The manager had to come over to our table a few times to interpret in English for us. They use multi-layered paper table cloths, so when you're done, they just peel off the top layer and the table is ready for the next guest. Interesting. They came by our table fairly quickly with dim sum, which was fine for my husband. I ordered potstickers and veggie spring rolls, which were good, but it took a long time to get them to the table. And getting a fork to eat them with, instead of chopsticks, was also somewhat of an ordeal. We won't be back.
Be the first to ReplyNo more Fortune House! Ming has taken over with great success.
I have been many times to Ming (mostly lunch) and never disappointed. With one friend or with a group (mostly Chinese) of up to 12. Food quality is consistently good as is the service.
Can't help thinking about the former establishment at this site, and it was mediocre at best; might this explain why new owners arrived on scene?
Family Dining Fun
Hard to beat the dim sum restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley, but this place easily matched them. The carts kept coming, filled with everything from shu mai to chicken feet. It helps when you have a Chinese relative calling the shots. Great ambience and fast service made it more enjoyable. Definitely a go-to on my next visit.

My favorite Dim Sum is in San Francisco, but that is a ways to drive when you get the craving for dumplings and pork buns... Ming Dynasty does a fine job overall. Food is delivered hot and fresh. We have held several pop up dim sum gatherings here and been happy with the food and setting. Good selection well prepared.

The food was good and the service excellent, we had about five or six waitresses helping us. We tried several dishes and all of them were good.
