I have been a very loyal customer of Mochi ever since I discovered the restaurant through a blog over 8 years ago. At one point, it was arguably the my favorite restaurant in the world. It was always the first place I would go to to once I landed in Vienna, and sometimes, I would even go again towards the end of my trip. While I always like to try new restaurants and types of food, Mochi was always at the top of my list and the one place I would have to go to. Unfortunately, lately the quality of the food has declined significantly. I went about a year ago and was surprised at the poor quality but I figured it was a rare exception. Then I went again 6 weeks ago and the experience was just as bad. My wife even looked at me and said "I can't believe i'm going to say this, but Mochi isn't good any more", and unfortunately I totally agreed.
Two days later, a friend of mine who lives in Vienna called me and asked me if I wanted to go to Mochi, and I told him that it is no longer what it used to be. He said he agreed and that the restaurant had really declined. He then told me about Mochi Am Markt, he mentioned that the food there was excellent. At first I was hesitant, but then agreed to go. The food was spectacular!! and I was really glad I went.
I'm not sure what happed to Mochi Praterstrasse and why it is no longer what it used to be. Mochi Am Mark was a great experience that reminded me of the old, original Mochi.
