Morimoto: crispy whole fish, rock fish tempura, sea urchin, spider roll, bourbon & gin cocktails. Busy casino, good service, mediocre sushi for the price.

Morimoto is an upscale "Japanese" restaurant inside of the MGM Grand. Overall, I gave it a 4/5 stars. For the price, I would have anticipated more sushi options and Japanese-based dishes similar to those I found on my travels throughout Japan. However, it seems that the menu has been "Americanized" and includes items like a California Roll, which I would never have guessed to be on an upscale Japanese menu. Outside of their sushi, it's largely a seafood based restaurant. I have a tough time considering this a true Japanese restaurant and being that Japanese is my favorite food, I was pretty disappointed in the menu. Our server was kind and I would give him a 5/5. I honestly forgot his name (shorter male of Asian descent I believe if he sees this - thank you). When we did get our food, we ordered tacos, soup, and sushi (pictured is every tuna option they had). The food was tasty. I just wished they would steer more towards authentic Japanese rather than it being "Americanized" and serving entrees that you would find in a seafood restaurant.

My dining experience at Morimoto in Las Vegas was an evening of elegance, flavor, and artistry. This restaurant, known for its exquisite ambiance and culinary mastery, particularly shines with its sushi bar, which boasts a captivating white collage backdrop and the mesmerizing sight of sushi chefs at their craft. Our dinner began with a trio of appetizers: the Toro Tartare, Tuna Tacos, and Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. The Beef Carpaccio was a standout, melting in the mouth with a symphony of yuzu soy, ginger, and garlic--a testament to the quality and finesse Morimoto places in each dish. The Tuna Tacos, while familiar, didn't leave a lasting impression compared to the myriad of versions available at other venues. However, the Toro Tartare was a visual and flavorful delight. Presented on a flat platter with a decadent spread of Toro and accompanied by an assortment of sauces including wasabi, nori paste, sour cream, and caviar, it was both a feast for the eyes and the palate, though those seeking a more texturally varied or filling option might find it lacking. For our main course, we delved into the restaurant's signature offerings with the Pork Sticky Ribs, Salmon Jalapeno Roll, and a visually striking square cut roll not listed on the menu but known among patrons and featured in their Las Vegas Strip advertisements. The ribs were tender and succulent, effortlessly falling off the bone, while the Salmon Jalapeno Roll impressed with its fresh flavors and texture. The square-cut roll, however, was a marvel of sushi artistry, both in taste and presentation, making it a must-try for any sushi lover. Service was attentive and friendly throughout our meal, enhancing our experience in the bustling yet surprisingly serene dining environment. While our overall experience at Morimoto was positive, marked by beautiful surroundings and skillfully crafted dishes, it might not warrant a return visit, not due to any shortcomings in service or quality, but rather because none of the dishes singularly captivated us to the extent of longing for a repeat experience. Nonetheless, Morimoto is a premier choice for those seeking an exquisite dining experience in Las Vegas, offering visually stunning and deliciously crafted dishes in a serene atmosphere. It's the perfect venue for a special evening out, even if it might not become a regular spot.

Atmosphere was fantastic- a little loud, but we were against a wall that helped cut the noise. Great vibe and decor though. Food was all amazing - best we had over 3 days in Vegas: tamarind ribs were delicious, the laksa noodle soup good, heavy on spice and very filling. Topped it with spicy tuna maki and negi hamachi roll - tuna wins hands down on flavor. Great meal and pricey drinks. Would recommend for a great experience

Food was 3/5 - good with some daring, though not quite hitting the mark fusion Service was 5/5 Ambiance is 4/5 - kinda loud but still nice and the dim lighting makes it feel intimate Value was 3/5 - more expensive than Gordon Ramsay's bougie Michelin Star restaurant at Harrah's but not as cohesive flavor wise nor satisfying The Napa location is better. Go there instead.

great ambiance nice setting and friendly staff but food was just not great at all. Soft shell crab roll was stone cold tasted like the crab was fried days before and the roll was just cold and it was supposed to be a hot appetizer. Hamachi tacos were good. Chef choice chirashi tasted awful none of the sashimi slices were fresh and tasted very very fishy could barely finish the bowl and the rice was bit soggy. it was really bad as the sashimi pieces were warm..... never coming back again.

Have eaten at the now closed NYC location, Maui, and Las Vegas. All of them are a great meal and good experience. Go and explore what a delicious meal they offer.

The sushi was wonderful. Kate our waitress was lovely.

My visit to Morimoto in Las Vegas was impressive, especially given the competitive dining scene of the city. Organizing a dinner for a large group on a Saturday night seemed daunting, but making a reservation at Morimoto was surprisingly straightforward, setting a positive tone for the evening. The ambiance of Morimoto was elegant yet welcoming, preparing us for a high-quality meal. The menu offered a wide range of contemporary Japanese dishes, with the pork belly and braised black cod standing out for their excellence. Both were prepared with precision, the pork belly tender and flavorful, and the cod soft, flaky, and perfectly seasoned. The drinks from the bar, including a well-crafted old fashioned, complemented the meal. Service was efficient and attentive, remarkable for a group of our size. In Las Vegas, where dining options abound, Morimoto shines. The quality of the dishes, particularly the cod, and the ease of reservation make it a standout choice. My experience was not just a meal but a highlight of my visit to Las Vegas, making Morimoto a recommended destination for those seeking quality dining in the city.
Be the first to ReplyFood was ok.
The service was good, we went due to the ambiance, but waaay over priced. I'm not used to Vegas casino prices and i learned the hard way, i realize it takes alot to afford a place like this but 20 something dollars for 1 piece of sushi, not for me. I had a hot bowl with 2 small pieces of fish on a small amount of rice that they cooked in front of me. Kind of cool but not really after considering costs. Took the good vibe away from the whole table that we knew we were getting ripped off.

The famous Iron Chef's restaurant, thought it would be exciting to try but it's nothing spectacular. The food was all right except spending $450 on a nice box of Uni, it's the only thing that is worth eating. Sushi was okay... ordered the Omakase and I thought it would be special but it's very plain Jane. However the desserts are better than the sushi. Service was great, no complaints. After all you are paying a premium price to eat.

Amazing service, waiter was friendly and had the recommendation on point. He checked in often to make sure I was ok, even when he didn't say anything. The food was great. I had the sticky ribs which were very soft and fell of the bone. Flavor was on point! Yellowtail tacos were delicious and the sushi bowl I think they call it was also very amazing with a nice assortment of different sushi and a roll! One of my new go to in Vegas!!!
Be the first to ReplyWe had a group of 4 and dined in on a Friday evening.
Here were our opinions1. Service was good2. Services were average - so was the wine list. Sake list was probably much better3. Gluten free options were very limited4. Good was 1 star. We had shishitos, edamame (probably the best part of our meal), tofu bop, pork bop, fried whole fish and 3 spicy fish rolls. The fish tasted old and everything was VERY bland and boring + $$$ I would expect that this place will close within the next year. It doesn't keep up with competitors or sushi that I have had in Wisconsin ...
Be the first to ReplyCame with great expectations of this place.
Made reservation online and was here with good friends The ambience was modern and hip. And as usual, the place was quite crowded. Service I thought was ok. Didn't feel like the waiters took too much time to explain the menu My favorites were the tuna tartar and the black cod. Cod was cooked beautifully and super juicy , tender and flavorful. Tuna tartar was rich, and the design was very pleasing to the eyes. Though the portion was quite minuscule. Also ordered the sushi pieces. Thought the pieces were not bad. Salmon was fresh and delicious. Hamachi was mid. The ume shiso roll was refreshing. Oyster was not bad but the teriyaki sauce was a little overpowering Overall the experience was not bad. But for the price, and small amount of food, and some mid food qualities , will have to give it a 3. Since I'm measuring against other high end places. May be nice to eat here once to experience.

Amazing fine dinning service and fresh to taste seafood any woman's dream come true! Every item we ordered had favor so pure and powerful I was very surprised I left with a Togo box, in my defense it was mostly rice and some egg leftover in my sushi bowlCan't wait to go back!
Be the first to ReplyFabulous restaurant.
This one is definitely in our top 5 favorites. Food, service, & atmosphere were top notch. We ordered more than we could eat, and had it packaged for 2nd dinner at home .. however it somehow got tossed before making it back to our table. The manager kindly reduced our bill in good faith. Being downtown at MGM on a Friday night, we probably seemed like tourists. Nope - we live here, and will most certainly put this restaurant in our dining rotation.

The first stop in Vegas that you will never forget! We checked this place out when we first arrived and we're lucky enough to find a table. Always reserve ahead, this place is always busy busy! When you walk in the ambiance is perfect, slightly dimmed lights and it makes you fee perfectly relaxed. The service was fantastic and they always checked on us, which is impressive since this place is always busy. We got a couple drinks to start the night off and they were a good pour, and tasty. They recommended some appetizers that were too good to pass up, blue fin fatty tuna, and white fish carpaccio. You have to try both you'll remember the taste of both for ages!We then slowly made our way toward the entrees, of which they had a great selection but it wasn't overwhelming. They even talked us into some delicious sorbet, which you will come back to try again because it's so good!Check this place out, it's a perfect dinner place, impeccable service, and the price wasn't bad at all and it's well worth it!They can be

Sushi and rolls but other Asian delicious bits to choose from. Fish and steak are the basic menu items, but glorious creations of food. Beautiful presentation of dishes as well.

Our server was friendly and informative. The food was awesome. The noodle soup will fill you up. Shasimi was fresh, with no fishy odor or aftertaste. Pricey but worth every $$$. Make a reservation for this place.

This review is solely based upon my interaction with the staff. Every single hostess is beyond rude. I made reservations for 9, I came around 8:56 to ask if we were on still on schedule. I then received an extremely really rude interaction from two of the hostesses at the front. I kindly asked a simple question and I was met with attitude and annoyance. If you cannot be a people person and put a smile on your face, then you should probably find a new job. Needless to say, I decided to eat elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and hire new gals.

It has been a dream of mine to eat at Morimoto, and I was thrilled to have the chance during a recent trip to Vegas!! Firstly, reservations for dinner are pretty much mandatory, even on a weeknight. I booked 2 months in advance, but there were definitely decent time slots around 3 weeks out also. I ordered the toro tartare appetizer, and every single component of the dish was amazing. I'm not a big wasabi person, but there was something about this wasabi that was absolutely amazing.. I probably could've eaten a small bowl of wasabi alone! The smoky-flavored soy sauce was also great, and I really enjoyed the nori paste. Then I ordered an assortment of other items so I could try different things. The soft shell crab roll was great, with much more food at a similar price point as the nigiri. I treated this roll as my entree and the nigiri like sides. :)The oh toro nigiri was heavenly, absolutely the best I've ever had. The sake/salmon was excellent too, so buttery and melted in my mouth! I also got a scallop nigiri, which was disappointing but fine. I think the bar was set really high with the other two pieces, and I was expecting magic. Something to note is that the nigiri prices were for single pieces, as opposed to 2 (which is standard in many sushi restaurants). I'd recommend splurging on this amazing fish and ordering 2 of each, maybe instead of a $20 cocktail or appetizer, if you're looking for the best bang for your buck.My dinner at Morimoto was truly special and I will always remember it.

I finally got to eat at Morimoto inside the MGM Grand! This was my very first time and I was beyond excited!I made a reservation and was greeted/welcomed by the amazing hostess once I got there. They took us to our table and while walking to our table I was very impressed by the beautiful design of this restaurant. I loved every detail of it. The artwork behind the sushi bar was definitely my favorite.Matt T & Aries were our servers for the night. I was very pleased with their knowledge of the restaurant/food. It was a busy night, but they made us feel like we were the only ones having dinner. They recommend some delicious items on the menu. They were friendly, professional and welcoming. This is what we ended up ordering for dinner:Whitefish carpaccio - OMGGGGGGGGG this had to be my favorite dish of the night. The flavor was so perfect, and the whitefish tasted so fresh.Tuna and Hamachi tacos - I loved then equally. It was a nice size of taco shell and fish.Rock Shrimp Tempura - had my mouth full of some many different yummy flavors. The spicy kochujan sauce and wasabi aioli with a little ranch made it worth every bit.Ishi yaki buri bop - try to say that 5 times fast lol. This dish was another favorite of mine. It's yellowtail on rice cooked at our table right in front of us (get your cameras ready) in a hot stone bowl.Sticky ribs - delicious, delicious and yummy, delicious. The meat was so soft, and it fell right off the bone. The spicy tamarind glaze was worth every finger licking lol (don't worry they have hot towels to wipe your sicky fingers) We ordered a side of rice, and it went very well together.Dessert: Fiery chocolate tart - if you LOVE chocolate like how I do, then you MUST save room for dessert and order this. When they say fiery, they really mean it. (Get your phone ready for this presentation) the food runner Daniel presented this dessert at our table and did an amazing job explaining the dessert.Throughout the night Mark G and Juan did an amazing job in making sure we had fresh plates, water was always filed and made sure our table was nice and clean for our food. Huge thank you to Mark G for making an amazing cappuccino. It was well needed at the end of an amazing dinner. Overall, I highly recommend Morimoto to everyone. I will definitely return again! Thank you everyone that made my first visit here very memorable.

Hostess was polite and accommodating! We did not have a reservation but she made room for us at the bar. Everything ordered was Devine! Wasn't too rich and every bite exuded the many layers of flavors without being overwhelming. MRKT price for the whole lobster was $90- and worth every single penny. Very meaty and cooked to perfection! Only reason this wasn't a 5 star rating was the bar tender was very obviously stressed. Minimal eye contact, and while he was quick- it also turned into been my rushed a bit. For a $300 check- you'd expect more from The hospitality side.

Ok so the foie tacos are a secret , well sorta but if you can swing it get it. And that's why I'm giving it 4 stars, bc it's humble critic does not give out 4 stars easily. Try their sushi also bc it's decent , skip the lobster and go to Chinatown, get a fun over priced drink bc it feels right and end on sharing all the desserts. You're welcome, peace
