Special Cantonese Dining Experience.
Great ambience. Waiter very helpful with choice of dishes. Scaled down size of dishes as was solo. Delicious wagyu beef dish with crab fried rice. Selection of Dim sims for entree. Will definitely be back again. Thoroughly recommend.

Be the first to ReplyGreat lunch
Delicious fresh clean Cantonese dishes. Cool place. French waiter. We had pork belly, seafood with ginger and scallions, a few dumplings and some sautéed green veg. Very nice lunch. Next time I’m in Sydney I’d come back with a group and try more.

Recommended by our hotel concierge, Mr. Wong is a bustling hot spot in an old warehouse down an alley. It's a Sydney legendary eatery with fabulous food. The menu is massive. Highly recommend the prawn wonton soup, dim sum platter, Peking duck pancakes and stir fried vegetables. It was A LOT of food for just the two of us, but all delicious. Service was prompt and attentive notwithstanding how busy they were.

What a lovely experience we had at this fun restaurant. The food was amazing… don’t miss the Peking Duck! And fried ice cream desert. But the service is what made it the best. A loud group of standing friends encircled the table next to us and the restaurant staff was very quick to realize how noisy it became and asked them to move away. And then apologized. To us. Our waitress, lily, was so helpful in helping us make our food choices and also selected a great wine. The atmosphere is very interesting too. Highly recommend!

Our third visit to Mr Wong in Sydney. Previously we have loved this restaurant for its great food and chaotic atmosphere. Sadly on our latest visit the only wow factor was the bill. It feels like the prices have jumped 30-40% making it crazy expensive. We had a banquet which was just ok. No more Mr Wong for us

Service: mixed feelings about this one Food: good Atmosphere: fantastic, we loved it Location: good Price: too expensive for what you get Wifi: unknown A bit of mixed feelings about this place. We arrived without a reservation. The hostess told us she could put us on the list. All that went very smooth. Once we could get a table there was a bit confusion on where we would sit. Then our waiter was a bit pushy with things and had a little attitude. The food was good, but came a bit in haste.

Staff were pleasant and food was tasty as usual but the noise from the band playing next door at Palmer and Co was annoying, the door could have been shut, bad enough the acoustics are not the best here ! Finished dishes were left uncleared on the tiny table before the next course arrived. Please accept my honest feedback Mr Wong
Be the first to Replyworst dining experience in sydney
one of the worst dining experiences I've had in sydney. when it first opened Mr wong served excellent chinese food at a reasonable cost. This time the food was totally below par. the duck pancake's had been reheated in a microwave. the fried rice was cold and inedible. the waiters had attitude and tried to push a $70 bottle of wine and claiming there was no other choice, They also had no knowledge of the wine they were serving. The pork ribs were tough and chewy and also inedible. At a cost of $395 for three people I felt TOTALLY RIPPED OF. as a tour guide I most certainly will no longer recommend Mr Wong. It was a clue when there were no Chinese Diners at all that night in the restaurant.

First out of the gate, secure a reservation as this place is packed daily. We got a table two nights after first visiting g a worth the wait. Great vibe with all the dinners. You can watch the chefs in action with rows of duck waiting to be prepared. Portions are very generous so think about how much food will be delivered. Started with the cold chicken starter which had amble amounts of heat. They a massive plate of shrimp fried rice arrived to compliment a shrimp platter, kung pao chicken and beef cubes. This for 4 people! Perhaps the best Chinese food I have ever had. Make and effort to eat here.

Mr. Wong’s is a legend in Sydney for Chinese food. Nine of us went for lunch on Sunday and we WAY over ordered but it was fabulous. Personally, I had the lobster and scallop steamed dumplings and the duck fried dumplings. Delicious!
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding restaurant
We were a walk up for dinner on a Saturday night, we got there for opening at 5.30 & were shown straight to a table. From that moment on the service was outstanding. The food was delicious, beautiful dumplings & Peking duck, we lived in Hong Kong for years & the food at Mr Wongs compares equally with the best restaurants in HK. The wine choices were 1st class as well. The whole package made for a very enjoyable night out. One more shout out for the service, 1st class.

We had dinner at Me. Wong and it was a great d perience. We never ever had so fantastic dumplings before. Also the manies where absolut delicious. The restaurant is not easy to find, but it is really worth to look for it. Reservations are nessesary, they are mostly fully booked.

Our "go to" chinese restaurant in Sydney, having visited multiple times ,reviewed according and previously always excellent. This visit on a busy Wednesday a bit of a disappointment. The room was really noisy, lighting way too dark (needed my phone to illuminate a menu that itself needed stronger text contrast) and the food - all dishes we have had before- a bit lacklustre. The white chicken a little too acidic; the pig's ear overdone and verging on brittle; the salt and pepper squid under seasoned and bland while the double cooked string bean and pork dish had masses of bean but negligible pork. None of it quite justified sending it back but everything lacked the usual finesse and precision. Would only return at a quieter time though good luck with that...may have become a victim of its success.
Be the first to ReplyNot you average Chinese restaurant
Not your average Chinese restaurant, this is a very modern and well organised place over 2 floors. The entrance is down a clean but unrecognisable alley adding to the thrill as if you had discovered a gem in the back streets of Sydney. You have to book as this is very busy it is also not cheap although I would consider it good value for money as the service from the sommelier and our waiters was excellent. the food was a modern take on Chinese and was well presented and delicious , the drinks ranged from beer to cocktails and fine wines. Well worth a visit.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding Food & Service!
I visited this restaurant as a group of 4 friends and we were all amazed at how outstanding the food and service was. Booking is a must. When we arrived there was a line up down the street. Each party was greeted by a waiter and taken to their table. The waiters were “on point”, looking after every detail. We watched the chefs cooking in the busy kitchen and got talking to another table who were equally as impressed with the food and service. Highly recommended when in Sydney but remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Be the first to ReplyStunning seafood.
Outstanding food. The quality of the ingredients shines through. Only docked it one star for the noise level and the fact that the cucumber with the toast duck was rather thick. You do need to book. Plus we had to chase up our wine.
Be the first to ReplyAlways marvellous food at Mr Wong
We were a party of 8 so decided on one of the Banquet menus ……our table hostess said ‘leave it to me and you will be happy’. So we left the dishes to her and we were more than happy. Peking Duck, Pork Hock, Lobster dumplings, Fried Rice…..all delicious. Mr Wong is always a hive of activity with wonderful architecture and Sydney vibe.
Be the first to ReplyMy favourite in Sydney - great food/service/atmosphere
Always enjoyable - food is awesome - dumplings/bugs/beef cubes/chicken - but I think whatever you order you can't go wrong here. Deep fried ice cream balls a lovely way to end a great night. Staff are well trained and top class - attentive but not OTT. HIghlight of every trip to Sydney

A family evening for a special meal was delightful. The food is varied and excellent along with an extensive wine list (we didn’t go for the $25000 bottle of Petrus though). Another added bonus was having Margot Robbie sat at the next table so the view was even better than the restaurant’s wonderful architecture.
Be the first to ReplyThe whole dinner was great.
The customer service was good, the food was spaced good. Meaning you had enough time to eat the each course.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambience, average food for an eye-watering price
I went to Mr. Wong for the first time after hearing great reviews about the restaurant from friends and the press. The extremely popular eatery was packed to the rafters and the ambience and vibe upon entering had me looking for a meal to remember. The service was friendly and efficient, but everything else was disappointing. We made the mistake of ordering the lobster, which was extremely expensive. There was not enough to go around, as it was a small one and lacked flavour. The Peking Duck pancakes were disappointing and I have had better at my local Chinese take-away. There was nothing special about the Special Fried Rice and the Wagyu beef dish wasn't at all memorable. The wines were just okay at extremely marked up prices. I suppose you can't argue with the success of the place, as it is packed day in and day out with 20s,30s and 40 somethings taking their selfies and posting them on instagram. I for one will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyReally good food, ambience a little full on, and the upswell disappointing
Ok, so the food is great as you would expect from this restaurant; everything we ate was really good and tasty. What let’s this place down is the tables are fairly closely packed in. I guess they can do this with their popularity. Therefore the general noise is quite a din, with added music also. They also work hard on the upsell, trying to get you to order more than you actually need, and directing you to the most expensive dishes. When you’re left with food at the end of your meal, and didn’t accept recommendations, then that feels like they are trying to take advantage of those that can’t say no.
Be the first to ReplyBest flavours, service and food !!!
Really enjoyed having a family lunch at Mr. Wong, staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. The $118 banquet menu was absolutely delicious with many flavoursome and exciting dishes. Very good value for the money, my family and I were amazed with the amount and diversity of food included in the banquet. I would definitely come back again!!!

Second time here and an out of town traveler from the US. Was first here in 2018 and my review back then was gushing about the food. I’ve completely changed my mind about this place since my second visit earlier this week. Service was pretty bad to the point where I tipped zero. As an American, this is rather hard to do. Had to constantly try to get the server’s attention as I was solo and seated at the bar which I chose to do but in hindsight it was just like being tucked away in some remote corner. Now to the food, crab fried rice was decent. Mapo tofu was pretty atrocious. Over salted and overly sweet. The tofu texture is interesting but I really couldn’t eat it so I fished out the tofu and left everything else uneaten. The roast duck also was disappointing vs my first time. Nothing spectacular all in all and just severely disappointed by this experience. Won’t bother coming back.
