Not the best meal in Tokyo!
After 8 days of fabulous Japanese food, NOBU Tokyo was our worst dinner. Food felt over spiced and the freshness of ingredients did not come through. My introduction to Japanese food was NOBU but now after having authentic fresh Japanese live prepped meals NOBU Tokyo just didnโt do it for me!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing experience and customer service at Nobu Tokyo
I was initially impressed with Nobu Tokyo during my last visit 7 years ago, but my recent experience has left me thoroughly disappointed. Despite my previous positive encounter, my recent planned visit with a group of 10 turned out to be a complete disaster even prior to attending. Upon booking, we were asked to pre-order our meals to expedite the process since its a big number of people. Fair enough, I thought, wanting to accommodate the restaurantโs request. However, my plans took an unexpected turn when I fell ill on the same day of our reservation. Sensing that I wouldnโt be able to make it, I promptly called to cancel one person from our group (myself), a full four hours before our scheduled time. To my shock and dismay, Nobu Tokyo proceeded to charge me the full amount for the canceled meal, totaling a whopping 19,300 yen. Their explanation? They claimed that since the food had already been prepared, it would go to waste if not served, hence the charge. This excuse left me utterly perplexed and dissatisfied. Are they suggesting that they serve pre-made food, reheated and possibly not fresh? Or is this simply a ploy to justify borderline extortion by charging for a meal that was never consumed? The lack of flexibility and understanding in this situation is truly disappointing. While I had initially enjoyed my previous experience at Nobu Tokyo, this recent encounter has left a sour taste in my mouth. I expected better from a restaurant of such repute and will certainly think twice before considering another visit.

Brilliant food and service! The seafood was wonderful and the accompanying sake absolutely delicious! The coconut sorbet was beautifully presented and a delicious dessert!

Donโt bother. Have visited Nobu in the US, Dubai, Singapore, London. This is by far the worst. Understaffed. Items not available, upsold different dishes which were undercooked. Wagyu skewers were inedible. Creme Brulee was made by someone who had never tasted a real creme brulee. Nigiri was good quality. Tacos were fine. Wagyu Tenderloin was just OK. Never at one point did everyone in our group have a plate in front of them at the same time. Strong tourist trap vibe. Did mention all this to a manager. Got a full bill and weak response. Waste of money and time. For some reason when you pay with credit card they take the card away, run it, ask for the pin and leave again with card. Never seen that method since the 80โs. If card data shows up stolen I guess I know who did it. LOL.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful dinner - best we had our entire trip in Japan.
We actually dined at Nobu for lunch one day and dinner the next. These were the two best meals of our entire trip. The Miso black cod is always good. We definitely recommend this restaurant as the food is always good and worth the money. Nobu Matsuhisa - Nobu Owner/Chef also known as Nobu was there when we were having dinner which made it even more interesting as he was clearly making certain all was as he expected.
Be the first to ReplyA great experience and a highlight for our Tokyo vacation.
The service was impeccable and friendly. We had the Omakase dinner and were especially impressed with the wagyu steak and crispy prawn roll. Excellent in looks, taste and texture. Soba was much too salty but everything else was very good. We felt the quantity was reasonable and the experience was memorable.

Business dinner during our visit to Japan. We had a seven course dinner accompanied by white and red wine. The food was of high quality and the staff was very attentive. They were very cooperative even when we decided to order more sushi and wagyu beef. I would rather rate in somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, however thatโs currently not possible in this app.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic staff, food missing the point
I had a nice evening at Nobu in Tokyo. The staff were excellent, polite and made good recommendations for cocktails. The food, on the other hand, felt average and didn't really live up to expectations. We chose an omakase set. I felt like the food I ate at Nobu reminded me of any type of meal I'd have outside of Tokyo, but in comparison to some other Japanese restaurants that I've dined at in Japan, Nobu didn't come close. We were still hungry after our meal and had to get something else to eat afterwards, which was a real shame. I'd still rate this a 3 for the staff, ambience and location. Definitely not what I would expect for the price.
Be the first to ReplyAverage food. Nice ambience
The food here was below our expectations. They had a seperate vegetarian menu but whatever we ordered from it was very average. The ambience was really nice and fancy. But food (sushi, rice, noodles) etc was very average.
Be the first to ReplyWhat A Disappointment!
After having skipped Japan for three years due to the pandemic, we were happy to be back in Tokyo and headed straight for Nobu's. However, we were sorely disappointed. It looks like they have a new main cook. Nobu himself was coming in a few days, I hope he can do something about the quality of food at this Nobu's. It was not very tasteful, the fish was dry. Wasn't the miso dish made with sea bass at other times? The black cod was certainly not worth the price, it was almost difficult to eat because it was so dry. The vegetarian dishes lacked creativity. The only dish we really enjoyed was the dessert. The chocolate cake and the sesame ice cream, as good as ever.

We had an excellent time at Nobu Tokyo. The staff and service was good, Chef Nobu was also around and very happily posed for pictures, making the evening more special. They have a vegetarian friendly menu and had a great choice.
Be the first to ReplyTokyo must!
Food and service were exceptional. Everything we ordered was delicious! Our waiter was very accommodating and friendly.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent Food and Friendly Service
In a short 10-day visit to Tokyo, we dined at Nobu's three times. The service and the food were consistently excellent, except for the salads. Although we tried several of them, none really appealed to us. On the other hand, the fish was totally fresh and tasty. We tried several dishes, our favorites are listed below. We also had various kinds of Sushi, all excellent. The desserts are to die for. The chocolate cake is famous, and the Crรจmes Brรปlรฉes were very special. I especially enjoyed the Soya Crรจme Brรปlรฉe! The Mochi Ice Cream is also worth trying.

We went Japan for our honeymoon and of course we wouldnโt want to miss the original and authentic version of our โgo toโ restaurant in almost every country Nobu.
We had Christmas eve dinner at Nobu in Tokyo and we absolutely loved it! Because we loved it, we went back again the next day for lunch, which is on Christmas day. Thats how much we love Nobu Tokyo.
Night out at Nobu Tokyo
Exuisite cuisine, very friendly and attentive staff made for a most memorable night of dining out. The restaurant is beautiful with a view over chefs, working in the kitchen. Prices are steep but we had the best Wagyu beef ever. I would love to return if I ever had a the opportunity.

Be the first to Replynot my fave...
having been a few times to the Nobu in Nyc and loving it, I was surprised to be meh about the one in Tokyo. I know a lot of people who would disagree but my meal said nothing about mushrooms on the menu and it came out covered in them. when I didn't touch the meal the manager didn't seem concerned and they also didn't get back to me on instagram when I complained numerous times. the dinner cost us an arm and a leg but it really wasn't up to snuff. in retrospect... maybe you're supposed to get sushi there? we had some type of beef and pasta dishes, mostly.
Be the first to ReplyNobu Quality not what it used to be
Really disappointed in Nobu Tokyo. Quality has definitely gone down.. shame! I recall the first one I went to in Miami and then again in New York.. it was amazing! But it seems each time I go it gets worse. Nobu Milan was also horrible. In both places, the fish was stringy and not fresh . The meat not tender, cold and full of grizzle. At least the staff in Tokyo was really nice unlike Milan. Will not go to any more Nobu Restaurants. will not waste my time or money.
Be the first to ReplyDelightful! First class all the way, from greeting at the door to the service.
The presentation was superb for our 'bento box' type lunch. Plenty of choices, sushi and sashimi and tempura. Salmon was especially delicious.
