OAK Restaurant Bath Reviews from The Last Year
Our first vegetarian restaurant visit
We have recently found our way toa primarily plant based diet and while visiting Bath we decided to try Oak for dinner after a bit of research. What a lovely meal with a tapas style concept. Every dish we had was better than the last. Do not miss the homemade bread. The treatment of the fresh vegetables and flavor combinations were inspiring. The service is top notch. If lived in Bath, we would be regulars.
Food is so good, I've never had a bad meal once there.
Price ain't bad either here, especially eating out in Santa Barbara. Always had great service, nothing to complain. Ambiance is great too, especially outside.
Incredible vegetarian restaurant
This was my second visit and just as wonderful. There's a lot of care and thought and love put into their plates. Incredible vegetarian food- some plates I never thought I would try nor enjoy and I was beyond impressed. And completely full when I left. Their bread is some of the best bread I've ever had but warning- leave room for your plates and dessert! Oh, the vibe/energy of OAK is perfection.
Fantastic veggie or vegan food, brilliant service, all round a winner!
This small veggie restaurant serves food in the 'small plates' style and also offers a tasting menu. Every dish was really delicious. Stand out ones in terms of flavours were the agnolloti with asparagus, and the flatbed with pesto, riccotta and broccoli, as well as the beetroot hummus too. Very much enjoyed the food, service, ambience. Staff were very knowledgeable, engaging and chatty. Thoroughly recommended.
Stand out flavours to make your eyes pop!
Wasn’t sure what to expect, none of our party are vegan, but the menu looked interesting so we gave it a try based on reviews. Wow! Outstanding, unique flavours, subtle and clean, haven’t tasted anything quite like this before, such clever flavour combinations with an abundance of smokiness. No one flavour was overpowering in any of the dishes, flavour even jumped out from the smallest morsel of trimming. We had eight small sharing plates between three of us which was sufficient, and a great way to taste the menu. Some of the plates are more filling than others as some have flatbread or bread, and others are more delicate. The produce is high quality, sweet and earthy. Highly recommend, we all plan to revisit with our families in the near future.
Did not offer an experience commensurate with the price
We are not vegetarian but as a first time experience I decided to try it out. Dishes were on the whole tasty but other than 2 dishes from the total of 6 or so tapas style offerings really impressed. We found it quite pricey for the experience.

Must say we were looking for a good meal here at the Best Western. The food was really good, delivered to our room. Fish, fresh veggies, nice mashed potatoes. Reasonable price. Im going back!!!
The salmon dog treats were a plus.
Beautiful place and friendly people. Food was great.
A Hidden Culinary Jewel
In the heart of Bath, Oak is a delight, A gem where culinary arts ignite. Dishes bloom with vibrant flair, Each bite a canvas crafted with care. Flavors mingle, bold and new. In combinations thrill and hue. A spot so warm, inviting, and bright, Oak shines as Bath’s dining highlight. Step through the door, take a seat. Prepare for a meal that’s sure to treat. For here at Oak, every dish is a treasure, And the staff you ask? Well they’re a pleasure.
Live Oak was a great spot to grab good breakfast at.
I ordered the Santa Barbara Wrap and my boyfriend got the Avo Bacon Omeltte. Everything was pretty good, a few of the side potatoes we got were uncooked which was a bummer because they tasted great. Otherwise service was good and it was a cute little spot.
Lovely solo find
Was actually on my way to eat somewhere else when I stumbled upon this place and had a lovely seat at the window I only had the broccoli flatbread infused with wild garlic and it was more than enough for lunch. It was one of the tastiest things I have eaten (I love garlic) and service was exceptional Will come back again and try other dishes with friends
I recently met a friend here for lunch and it was great!
I recently met a friend here for lunch and it was great! Super easy to get a table at the lunch hour on a Friday, though still shocked by how many people were dining there at that time. We were seated right away and our server was very attentive. I opted for one of their grain bowls with chicken and chose the wasabi spicy sauce to go on top. It honestly wasn't very spicy but the bowl was delicious. Very filling. I was curious about the marinated egg but it was good! They do have a parking lot but it was full upon my arrival, so I opted for street parking which was still easy to snag. Definitely a great spot!
Everything is amazing
Visited Oak for lunch for the first time. Everything was amazing - location, food and service. Good selection of wines and drinks too. Definitely will be back.
Disappointing
We eagerly looked forward to dining here. Sadly left feeling very disappointed. The dishes, of which we had five, had no nice clean flavours. Many were overpowered by smoke and were rather sickly. We love vegetarian cookery when done well. But as locals we will not be returning.

The service was great and the food is very tasty and the birds are wonderful!! Every time my daughter comes to Santa Barbara from Oceanside (once or twice a month) we come here.

I stopped into Live Oak Cafe after visiting a friend in the Cottage Hospital a couple blocks away. Live Oak is basically a Cafe attached to a Best Western but that is where all resemblances stop for Live Oak is doing things with care and attention to detail: things you don't usually find in a motel restaurant. We were initially greeted by a huge smile bestowed upon us by a pretty woman (sorry, i did not get her name) who, along with Javier gave us primo service throughout our short stay. The decor of Live Oak is straight out of 60's Cafe' attached to a Motel decor which was a bit off putting but the proof is in the pudding and so we marched on. Plus 2 of my Yelp friends had raved about this joint: so there is that. We were hankering for a great waffle and Goodlands was not open. so, based on Yelp's cumulative score: we walked on down here. We ordered A Belgian Waffle, A side of Onion Rings, a Spinach, Mushroom Omelet. I returned the waffle because it was not cooked enough and i ordered it plain: with butter and maple syrup and well cooked. The second one was perfect: yeasty, crispy and slightly sweet. The Omelet was stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and cheddar and light, eggy and accompanied by savory green onion skillet potatoes. The Onion Rings were ok not great: obviously frozen but of a good quality but out of a bag nonetheless. And finally the Syrache. What the Hell is that? Syrah? Grenache? Yeah: a combo of the 2? Yes, I think, Well it is a very good, chillable red wine with fruity ( as in Blueberries) and floral notes yet not cloying on the tongue. I enjoyed it with my waffle and also with the Omelet. So i guess you could say that it is a great Breakfast wine! Who knew? Service was very good and Javier was personable and helpful. Oh yeah: the coffee is great: produced with beans from Greenstar in Goleta. But good coffee only comes from the melding of the proper amount of water to ground coffee ratio. They do it right here. Live Oak is the perfect place to go for a drink (they have a nice cozy bar) and the greenhouse room is attractive and warm feeling. Cheers.
Came here for breakfast the other day.
I was expecting a place that was maybe airier or newer based on the look of their website, and it's pretty dated. Why outdoor furniture if you are seated indoors? The server was great, attentive, very nice. My daughter had the lemon zest French toast, which she liked. I ordered the garden veggie omelet, which was just weird. The vegetables were not really cooked enough, and the eggs were draped over. There were huge hunks of red onion, nearly raw, and small pieces of woody kale stalks, almost all of which I pushed to the side. I asked to add cheese and most of it was stuck to the plate, under the vegetables. The "scallion potatoes" on the side didn't have enough scallions to advertise them by that name. I think if I had ordered something else it would have been better.
My wife and I were in the area to visit a friend
My wife and I were in the area to visit a friend post-surgery and arrived too early to visit and happened upon this very cute cafe. If I'm not mistaken it's the restaurant that serves guests for the "Best Western" hotel but non-hotel guest are welcome as well. Let me say that during our visit it was pouring rain and didn't want to venture too far away from our destination and the cafe was a welcome sight. Despite the massive down pour, we found parking and sat in their covered and heated patio area enjoying our breakfast to the pitter patter sounds of the rain bounce off the metal roof. My wife had the Avocado Bacon Omelet, which she absolutely loved it came with bacon and described it as divine; crispy and not chewy. I chose the French toast combo...the French toast was cooked exactly to my liking. Delicious! With a soft fluffy texture. I too cant say enough about their delicious bacon. We were fortunate to have the patio area to ourselves because of the rain. That said, their food is so good that one is likely to wait in line on some weekends and weekdays. What brought us to the area wasn't great but this wonder cafe provided us a little touch of peace that we both cherished. Overall great food, food service and definitely worth visiting again.
Wonderful food and so accommodating for gluten-free
The food here was really wonderful and the staff were so kind and helpful. I'm very sensitive to cross-contamination so usually book in advance but even though we just turned up on the day it wasn't an issue and they even offered to adapt if we wanted! It's rare to find restaurants that offer dishes that are exciting and different, where you don't know what to expect, and we loved all the flavours and the freshness of the ingredients. Worth a trip back to the city for this restaurant alone!
Outstanding flavours!
Outstanding flavours, every plate a delight! The roasted cauliflower soup tasted amazing with the home baked bread, the broccoli ricotta flatbread & potato terrine both outstanding & packed with flavour. The custard tart with nutmeg ice cream was out of this world! Really special birthday lunch followed by a film at the Tivoli, perfect on a drizzly February day.
One very happy Vegetarian!
Lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff, and some of the best food I've ever tasted; I highly recommend the Jerusalem Artichokes with Ajo Blanco sauce!
Out of this world
unbelievable flavours. On reading the menu it looked so simple but the thought that must have gone into these amazing dishes can be nothing but simple. Every mouthful was a delight and the passionate knowledgeable staff who were only too happy explaining how the dishes were made, really enhanced the experience. This is restaurant redefines food...just amazing.
I'll just cut to the chase.
..LOC is the best cafe in town! Food, Service, Ambiance it's all there!
