We had the sushi course at the sushi bar, reserved one day before. The service is just excellentSushi is okay in general. The fatty sushi roll and the sesame mousse dessert is the highlight of the night. Generally everything is nice, but the sushi sauce and season are slightly too strong.

My foodie friends and I (i don't really consider myself a foodie because I would eat just about anything if i am hungry) were discussing the validity of michelin stars: who are these people judging the excellence of food?; how do they get selected to be the judges?; how do they stay objective when so many factors other than food itself affect the dining experience?; and finally, do these people know the quality of Asian food? Also, is it just us or michelin 3 stars restos are smug about their 3 stars status and don't really try as much especially with the service? According to NYT, as of 11/14/2017, Okuda Paris is still unstarred but who gives a f*** about michelin stars when the food and the service are just top notch and far surpass any of the 3 michelin stars restos I tried. (not that many but i did and my friends had a horrible experience at this very famous 3 starred resto in Paris) Since I am not much of a food critic I can't describe the food much other than I cried a little when I tried the grated turnip soup with shortneck clams/scallops, the grilled red mullet, and apple sorbet/compote/mousse dessert. Wagyu was juicy and tender like a dream too with the fresh wasabi and I am not much of a red meat person. 198 euros per person for dinner without any alcohol but expect to be treated like a special envoy from a very important country. The executive chef, his apprentice, all the wait staff and the maitre d' are all thrilled to be working there and it shows. What an amazing place.

The finest Japanese cuisine in Paris !We ate in a private room, the service was excellent, really available. We drunk for the first time a white Japanese wine, good enough to compete with A good French or Californian one and with their famous sake. Light but nourishing and full of flavors cuisine ! Worst the trip

My favorite fine dining Japanese in Paris! Okuda is only Michelin starred Japanese restaurant in Paris. Amazing amazing creative food! Definite hint of French twist in this traditional Japanese. They have datchi and table sitting. Good tea selection. One waitress is trained in dado (art of tea ceremony) so she makes is enjoyable to watch. Ingredients are amazing and many are locally sourced. I expect two stars coming it's way!
Be the first to ReplyFirst, you should know that Okuda actually consists of two
First, you should know that Okuda actually consists of two separate restaurants; one that is a small pure prix fixe omakase style sushi restaurant that will accommodate no more than eight people at any time and the other a restaurant right next door, also prix fixe serving a menu consisting of other Japanese fare such as Wagyu beef and other cooked items. Second, they have two sittings - 6:00 and 9:00 PM. Third, they are not inexpensive - E 155.00 per person for sushi and E198 for the other restaurant, excluding drinks. Lunches are sightly less. We chose the sushi restaurant for dinnerThe meal consisted of amuse bouches, appetizers,10 sushi pieces, grillades, miso soup, a fruit dessert and tea. We also had an amazing Junmai sake to go with the meal. Tetsuyasu Kobayashi who was the sushi chef that evening was masterful and charming as the host and it was a pleasure to watch how he made the sushi and a delight to eat each piece. They were delicate and elegant and the flavoring with freshly ground real wasabi, not the usual Play-doh glob of green paste that clears your sinuses and a delicate brushing of each piece with a mixture of soy, mirin and yuzu. We have not experienced this at any of the sushi restaurants we've eaten at all over the US and elsewhere. The ambience that is calm and the decor essentially Japanese along with the attentive but not intrusive service as well as the great meal, made this a really memorable experience. Bottom line, you do not have to fly to Tokyo to eat fine sushi at Giro's - unless you really need to have something to brag about, Okuda is first rate and worth the expense for the experience.

Recently opened in Paris, this Japanese restaurant totally blew our minds.Service is simply "extraordinaire", so friendly, discrete and efficient. We made a reservation a few days before Christmas and asked to be seated at the counter, as it is the tradition in Japan. The waitresses wear kimonos, and the entire staff is from Japan. Add the peaceful interior, we felt being transported to the country of the Rising Sun.The 7-course menu changes very frequently and features the best of the kaiseki cuisine.Highlight of the night was the 'wagyu beef' with miso, cooked on a magnolia leaf in front of you. Also, the apple-themed dessert was excellent and offered 4 different ways of cooking the fruit. They have slightly decreased their prices for dinner, and it is definitely worth the splurge.
