Amazing staff.
Beautiful hotel within the financial district. The included breakfast every morning was superb and in an amazing setting. The only opportunity I would suggest is offering dressers/a chest of drawers in the rooms. Otherwise, fabulous!
Be the first to ReplyI feel like this hotel stole money from us.
We booked using Amex FHR, prepaid $350, 6 months ago, in order to receive the FHR benefits such as free breakfast. The card was cancelled since then, and they would not provide us the benefits we paid since we didn't have another Amex card with us. I spoke with a manager, Josue, who said it was in the fine print that we needed the card for incidentals (we had none) or we would not get the benefits. I asked as a courtesy just for breakfast, but Josue rudely told me there was nothing he could do because of Amex. I said certainly as a manager of the hotel he could comp us breakfast, but he just said he wouldn't do it! I don't understand how he could reach this conclusion, when it would be a simple thing to smooth over the situation. No, they are just keeping the $100 hotel credit and approximately $50 breakfast credit, which I paid for months ago. Highly unethical

My recent stay at the Palace was my 5th or 6th stay and is my go to hotel in San Francisco. The location is ideal right on Market and next to a Muni station, close to the BART, and the Embarcadero. The hotel itself is beautiful and incredibly well maintained. The entire team is well trained, friendly, and dedicated to luxury service. From the time you arrive and are greeted by the door person who warmly welcomes you and ushers you to reception. The front desk team who quickly identifies if you are returning guest or first time guest and proudly announce changes to benefit guest or introduces you to the hotel. If you haven't already made a reservation for breakfast at the Garden Court stop by the concierge and make one first thing! The concierge has always been helpful but learn from me and make a reservation as soon as you book your room. It is a very popular spot for guests and locals. In addition to the Garden Court, I always stop by the Pied Piper for a little bit and cocktail. The food there is delicious and service is always wonderful. The setting of the Pied Piper is that of classic cocktail lounge set under that amazing painting. The rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping staff is incredible. Rooms vary and I have stayed in a standard and deluxe room which are both wonderful. I do love when I'm upgraded to a deluxe room for turn down service with Ghirardelli chocolates and the Toto equipped toilets. Spoil yourself and book a room here!

Should be way better. Slow service, inept management. Lots of dogs running around in the hallways, but when I was there as a refugee as my house had burned down, they refused to accept my cat. If I ever have another crisis, I'll go somewhere that cares. BTW, this hotel discriminates against Americans With Disabilities.

The Palace Hotel is a beautiful and luxury hotel located on New Montgomery Street in downtown San Francisco. This is the hotel that NBA players use when the visit to play the Golden State Warriors. The hotel has an amazing breakfast (buffet and menu item) that anyone can partake in. I went for breakfast with colleagues and was impressed by the decor, food, and waitstaff. Now, the food is pricey, but everyone deserves to be treated luxuriously. Check out the pictures.

As an SF resident, I always visit the GC lounge and Piper Lounge in the palace. It's nice to do some work with a little wine and meet friends for happy hour. I am noticing that the GC lounge is not always consistently open with staff. I hope that in the future they will get more consistent with their hours. Otherwise, this is place has a great vibe, the staff is friendly.

I recently stayed at the Palace Hotel, and it was such a great experience. The customer service is bar none. The entire staff is very courteous and tends to just about every need. One staff member that was the superstar is Emma, she was the bartender at both the Pied Piper and the hotel bar. Great conversationalist, provided outstanding customer service, and her drinks were bar none. The front desk staff was outstanding, especially Jell. She assisted me with many of questions and inquiries. Definitely recommend this hotel for any future travels to San Francisco. I will with no question be back. Kudos to the Palace Hotel and Emma!!!

Home away from Home! Most favorite hotel in San Francisco! This is my personal favorite hotel to stay in San Francisco for several reasons! First one is the location, you can easily take a train from the airport straight to a hotel! Second is the service everybody does their best! Third is the rooms, if you stay at the suite rooms they are quite spacias and big, but be alert that the regular rooms are small but very charming! Entrance and a front desk area and especially breakfast area is grant! It's very beautiful! If you have a chance to stay here don't think twice! Recommended!

We had a wonderful weekend stay from the moment we were greeted by the valet area followed by the front desk to the bellman. The room was very clean and beds were very comfortable! Toilet seat was heated which was a pleasant surprise : ) Attended a baby shower in the main room off the lobby which was so beautiful! Enjoyed the fitness room which was also very clean and had nice cardio and weight equipment for a good workout.

We decided to stay at the palace hotel due its rich history. Once we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the bellmen and doormen Who helped us with our bags and asked us how they could be of service. The warm welcome continued at the check in desk where we were eagerly greeted with enthusiasm by both the front desk agent and front desk manager Mike o'Sullivan. When making the reservation, I had noted that we would be celebrating my daughter's 10th birthday during our stay and to our pleasant surprise they wished my daughter, a very happy birthday and upgraded our room to a larger room! The hospitality did not stop there as once we opened the door to our room, we found a special birthday dessert and note beautifully displayed on the desk. My daughter was so happy and my husband and I were so grateful for the gesture. During our stay, all of the staff continued to be extremely friendly and welcoming. We were even stopped at the door, when going out by a doorman who insisted that it was going to rain that afternoon and offered us umbrellas to use. I'm glad we took him up on the offer because it poured rain that afternoon. I have to admit that this was truly an amazing experience for our family. Not only do the staff make you feel at home and like family, but the hotel is simply beautiful and beds are so comfortable . We will most definitely return to the palace hotel in the near future.
Be the first to ReplyConvenient Location but Room for Improvement: A 3-Star
Convenient Location but Room for Improvement: A 3-Star Review of the Palace Hotel My recent stay at the Palace Hotel was a blend of convenience and frustration, leading me to rate it 3 stars. One of the hotel's standout features is its excellent location, particularly its proximity to the BART station. This made traveling around the city remarkably easy and was a significant convenience during my stay. The service at the hotel was commendably fast, which is a point in its favor. However, there were several aspects that detracted from the overall experience. The most glaring issue was the breakfast pricing - at around $47, it was notably overpriced for what was offered, both in terms of quality and variety. Another downside was the additional charge for Wi-Fi in the room. This is a service most travelers expect to be included in their stay, especially in a well-established hotel. The cleanliness of the room, particularly the bedding, was a major concern for me. I was disappointed to find the sheets dirty upon arrival, with visible brown stains. Although I requested a change, I was surprised when the staff delivered clean sheets but left me to change them myself. This lack of thorough service was unexpected and quite inconvenient. Despite these issues, the hotel's proximity to the BART station is a significant advantage for anyone looking to explore the city with ease. If the Palace Hotel addresses these areas of concern, particularly the room cleanliness and value for money in dining, it has the potential to offer a much more satisfying experience. As it stands, it's a solid choice for those prioritizing location and transit accessibility, but with some reservations regarding service and value.

Wonderful hotel! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful rooms, very clean, excellent room service. Indoor pool was great for kiddos. Highly recommend if staying in San Francisco!
Be the first to ReplyThe pictures do it justice! Oftentimes the photos of hotels
The pictures do it justice! Oftentimes the photos of hotels online make them seem much more glamorous than they are in real life. This one might actually be more beautiful in person. It has a very old school fancy feel without being run down or dated. The hallways are grand, the rooms are classically decorated to make you feel a combination of elegance and comfort. Even the stairs in the hallways are made of marble and have iron banisters. It very much gives off "the shining" vibes. Despite its classy atmosphere, it is still super family friendly. The indoor pool was a massive hit with our kid and us alike. There's a Ghiradelli in the hotel so ice cream sundaes after dinner is a nice treat. It's walking distance to lots of food and sight seeing opportunities. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The room service was quick and delicious. The valet parking is $72 but was worth it for us to not have to worry about parking and we knew our car was safe. The only thing I didn't love was that you have to pay daily for the wifi. It's a pricey hotel and you get what you pay for, but after already spending a lot for the room and parking the additional $15/ day for the wifi seems kind of stingy. Overall, we didn't want to leave. I could have just stayed and lived here and felt like a queen for the rest of my life. We'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyI do not typically stay at hotels like this.
If it has free breakfast and parking then I am there. However, my family decided to splurge on a nice night in the city and this place is definitely worth the cost. The check in situation felt dicey at first because the valet parking was packed and people were holding up traffic. Once we got to the curb, an attendant came out, gave me a ticket, offered to help with baggage, and took the car. It was efficient! There are unlimited in and outs too. The inside of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. I felt transported to a different time when buildings were made with purpose and with heavy long lasting material. The walls and doors in most hotels are thin and plastic feeling with every sound entering the room. My weak carpal tunnel hands could barely open the doors here because they are solid and built well. Our room was a sanctuary from outside sound too. We got a one bedroom suite because our son grinds his teeth like a rock tumbler. We have told the dentist but our son is too young for remedies so save it. Also, we were splurging. The room did not disappoint. It was amazingly comfortable and spacious. My wife really liked the robe and slippers!A large part of what you pay for here is the service. Employees are everywhere and very friendly. Every single employee I encountered greeted me. We ordered room service and the attendant made sure we had everything and more. The person at the To Go breakfast counter was grumpy but she was alone and had to tell guests that she was closed after they stood in line. This is a hotel systems issue that is the responsibility of management to fix and not the person preparing coffee and food. I could write so much more about the awesome pool, hot tub, fitness center, and attached Ghirardelli store, but this is kind of long already. Sometimes you get what you pay for and this place is totally that. It is expensive, but worth it.

Fabulous dining room! Fantastic indoor swimming pool!
Be the first to ReplyI recently booked a reservation for brunch with my family.
It is for a special occasion. I booked a month prior to our celebration. We were all very excited. On Monday before my reservation for Sunday brunch,I received an email that the restaurant is cancelling my reservation for someone who booked the entire place. Well,Isn't that amazing - with 5 days left to go, I get thrown out and am given no options and no compensation for such a rude way of cancelling me. I don't know who it could be but, how is it worth the stress you are putting customers under who booked and thought their day was all set. I have not seen such poor customer service for an upscale restaurant. Not even a phone call to follow up. Beware - this could happen to you - don't make a reservation here and depend on it. They have no regard for their customers, only someone who comes along at the last minute and throws a lot of money at them. I am completely disgusted with how this is being handled.Aggravated,SHARI SHRYOCK

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised! Despite my initial concerns that the old-world luxury might be a cover-up for the ghosts of 1920s-era guests, I'm happy to report that my stay was completely haunt-free. Phew! The location of the hotel is unbeatable, and the service was top-notch. I've never felt so pampered in my life. The staff was always one step ahead of me, anticipating my needs before I even knew I had them. It was like they were reading my mind, or maybe they were just really good at their jobs. The room was comfortable and had all the amenities I could ask for. I would have been perfectly content to stay in the room all day, but the hotel's location made it too convenient not to explore San Francisco.Overall, I had a great experience at the Palace Hotel. The only thing that could have made it better would have been the appearance of a friendly ghost to keep me company. But hey, you can't have everything, right? If you're looking for a comfortable and convenient stay with great service and a touch of old-world luxury, the Palace Hotel is definitely worth a visit. Just don't let the vaulted ceilings of the Shining-esque hallways scare you!
Be the first to ReplyI had an absolutely wonderful stay.
While the hotel is beginning to show wear the staff are absolutely top notch. It was a wonderful interaction from the moment I checked in. Everyone was extremely welcoming and while I normally stay at the Ritz when in town, I would absolutely book another stay at the Palace.
Be the first to ReplyComfortable and magnificent hotel.
But this is not the first choice for me when I was in San Francisco . I think the staff should improve the service .After all , the hotel is a hotel , not a palace.

It's exactly as the rating should be, a mediocre ehhh great aesthetics but leaves you wanting more. First time I came for an event I was wowed by the lobby, but the last time, well, the furniture all felt so tired and cheap the second I sat down. Even the scent of the place was stale. And it weighed on the staff who passively aggressively pressed me to order food when I was clearly on a work call. Oh well, at least the shouting matches between techies crying about why their boss should get fired made up for it while I studied the beautiful ceiling art. A must visit for sure.
Be the first to ReplyThe Palace is a gorgeous luxury hotel in downtown SF.
The pictures don't do it justice. Their garden court / lounge area is adorned with gold accents and beautiful chandeliers. The associates were decent, with some being friendlier and more helpful than others. Our suite was very spacious and clean. I loved the traditional feel of the place. The bed was extremely comfy as well. We were able to enjoy their breakfast and it came with a wide assortment of pastries and fruit. It also included yummy eggs, bacon, potatoes, and french toast. Definitely worth trying if you're staying at the hotel.

We stayed here for a simple birthday celebration over a long weekend, so we knew it may be busier and pricier than most weekends. This was the first time we used a credit card portal to book the stay and boy did we learn a lot. Which is what I'd love to share with all of you reading so you may notice it's geared more to that kind of review but I'll do my best to be thorough. Check in: We were only upgraded to a deluxe room from superior, despite our status with marriott and the AMEX booking portal. This was dissapointing. However, the lady checking us in was really nice and sweet and finally agreed to move us to a room with a better view vs the wall view we were given initially. They don't do a great job explaining the AMEX benefits so if you're new to this, def ask details and get it all confirmed before going to your room. Such as how to book your breakfast. Room: small and cramped. The furniture was dated and carpet was old and dingy, there's no way around it. The bathroom was my favorite part only because the toilet seat was heated and that's my thing! so I give an entire star just for that otherwise it would be 3 stars for this review. I think their ac may be working on a motion sensor, so if you need it a certain temp - good luck. Bed was comfortable and the tv worked. We spent most of the time outside and were exhausted by the time we got to the room, so we ordered in room dining and crashed. But again, it's so small, they could barely fit the dining cart in our room. Housekeeping staff: excellent, especially the gentleman who brought us our extra items. He was sooo so helpful, I wish I got his name. In room dining: the biggest issue was everything was luke warm by the time they brought it to us, which sucks because this is not cheap. They charge 21% service fee, tax, plus delivery fee. So when you add all that up, you expect your food hot and fresh. The menu item description did not match what they brought, but the staff was actually really understanding and appreciated that the manager quickly took care of it, the only issue was it took 30 minutes to get the correct order. So after a long day, we couldn't even enjoy that last entree since it came so late and as mentioned we were exhausted, which stinks, but we put it in the fridge in hopes we could eat it the next day if they can heat it up. Doorman: so helpful, and they need their own shoutout, probably some of the best I've seen in a long time. Always ready to help and go out of their way to do so. Reminded me of old school hotels and how helpful the Doormen and bellmen were back in the day. Gym: pool is taken over by kids/families, so don't expect to use it as a lap pool. Gym was clean, equipment not as up to date as used to from other hotel brands, but decent. Towels, normal and cold ready for your use, plus headphones. Found it empty when we went. Water station. Overall, I'd probably stay here again to give it one more try, maybe on and off weekend vs long weekend.
